Summary
With 1,578 currently listed for sale and an average price of $62,011, 34.5% of 2026 Volvo XC90 listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.

Why it stands out
The 2026 Volvo XC90 stands out as a luxury midsize SUV that blends elegant Scandinavian design with family-friendly practicality. Volvo’s flagship SUV has long been known for its safety focus, and this generation adds a more modern look, advanced technology, and a refined interior that gives it a premium feel. It also appeals to buyers who want three rows of seating without giving up a sophisticated, understated character.
For this model year, the XC90’s cabin is especially well equipped. It features a vertical touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the interior uses top-quality materials with a layout that makes access easy. Space is a strength, with good room in the second row and a third row that Volvo says can comfortably accommodate passengers up to 5'7" tall. Some versions also add a crystal gear shifter made by Orrefors, which reinforces the SUV’s upscale personality. Standard equipment on today’s XC90s includes four-zone climate control, cross traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, and leatherette upholstery, while air suspension remains optional.
The 2026 Volvo XC90 also offers a broad range of powertrains. The T5 uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 250 horsepower, the T6 is twincharged and rated at 316 horsepower, and the T8 Twin Engine plug-in hybrid delivers up to 400 horsepower along with impressive fuel economy. Safety technology is another major draw, with City Safety, Pilot Assist, and a 360-degree camera system included. The main tradeoffs are that base models are underpowered and ownership can bring higher maintenance costs, but for shoppers who value safety, comfort, and a polished luxury experience, the XC90 remains a compelling choice.

Is the 2026 Volvo XC90 a good car?
Yes — 5/5 is a strong user rating for the 2026 Volvo XC90, and it fits well if you want a luxury midsize SUV with three rows, a premium interior, and a family-friendly layout. The XC90’s appeal comes from its elegant Scandinavian design, advanced technology, and practical cabin space, including good second-row room and a third row that Volvo says can comfortably fit passengers up to 5'7" tall. It also brings a polished feel with top-quality materials, a vertical touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and upscale touches like an available crystal gear shifter. 34.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2026 Volvo XC90 reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The XC90’s reliability case is supported by its safety-focused design, standard driver-assistance features, and a cabin built with premium materials and a straightforward layout. Its strengths are especially clear if you value comfort, technology, and a refined ownership experience over sporty simplicity. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that maintenance costs can be higher than average.
What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Volvo XC90?
Accident-free inventory is excellent at 95.9% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies. You should still run a history report on any candidate and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or a vehicle with optional equipment. Focus your condition check on the cabin, infotainment operation, and overall maintenance records so you can confirm the SUV has been cared for properly.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2026 Volvo XC90?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile options.
- Deal availability: 34.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,597 listings available.
- Clean inventory: 95.9% of listings are accident-free.
Should I buy a 2026 Volvo XC90 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2026 if:
- 34.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is excellent at 95.9% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2025 if:
- It received a substantial refresh that improved styling, materials, and ride comfort.
The bottom line: If you want the most current version of the XC90’s luxury, safety, and family-friendly packaging, the 2026 is the primary path to consider. If your priority is stretching your budget, the 2025 is the better secondary path because it delivers much of the same core appeal with a refreshed setup that may be easier to price-shop.
