New & Used 2026 Nissan Sentra for Sale nearGrosse Pointe, MI

Is the 2026 Nissan Sentra a good car?

The 2026 Nissan Sentra earns a 7.67/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Cost effectiveness and Technology.

That lines up with the car’s value-first mission: the 2026 Sentra emphasizes bright touchscreens, comfortable seats, and a stylish design rather than chasing more power. It comes across as a stylish and safe compact sedan with impressive technology at an attractive, affordable price.

The trade-offs are clear. Performance is lackluster, and rear-seat legroom is tight, so you’re not buying this sedan for excitement or maximum passenger space.

With 37.9% of listings priced as good or great deals, the market gives you some room to shop carefully.

Is the 2026 Nissan Sentra reliable?

The 2026 Nissan Sentra is positioned as a smooth, quiet commuter with a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, and Nissan says the new transmission has been tweaked to provide smoother acceleration. The car’s value-focused setup also points to simpler ownership, since the engine is designed around smooth operation and cheap operating costs.

The expert evaluation also notes that the Sentra’s structural gaps have been closed off, which likely helped on the road. On the cost side, Nissan says the naturally aspirated engine’s simplicity should translate to lower maintenance costs over time, and the model’s fuel economy remains reasonably good for a non-hybrid compact sedan.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that you’re still choosing a car that prioritizes efficiency and comfort over excitement, so condition and maintenance history matter more than chasing performance.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Nissan Sentra?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper history review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on the cabin electronics, driver-assistance features, and overall interior condition, since this Sentra’s appeal depends heavily on its equipment and presentation. Also pay attention to rear-seat space and seat condition if you plan to carry passengers often.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The S trim gets the basics, including LED headlights and taillights, but it rides on 16-inch steel wheels with plastic covers. The SV adds aluminum-alloy wheels, while the SR and SL bring the strongest visual appeal with larger wheels, full-width LED taillights, and heated wing mirrors. The SL also adds a power moonroof and quilted leatherette upholstery, while the S and SV use cloth.
• Powertrain: Every trim uses a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 149 horsepower and 146 pound-feet of torque. All Sentras are front-wheel drive, and Nissan says the CVT has been tuned for smoother acceleration. Fuel economy is rated at 29 mpg city, 38 highway, and 33 combined in the S and SV, and 28/36/32 in the SR and SL.
• Safety package: Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard, with automatic emergency braking, lane-departure mitigation, forward collision warning, blind-spot intervention, high-beam assist, and traffic sign recognition. A surround-view monitor and Nissan ProPilot Assist are standard on the SL and available on the SR.
• Infotainment: Every trim gets a 12.3-inch center touchscreen and smartphone integration. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard on the SV and above, while the S requires a wired connection. The digital driver display is 7 inches in the S and 12.3 inches in the SV, SR, and SL.
• Fuel efficiency: Nissan estimates 29 mpg city, 38 highway, and 33 combined in the S and SV trims, and 28 mpg city, 36 highway, and 32 combined in the SR and SL.

Which 2026 Nissan Sentra trim should I buy?

The 2026 Nissan Sentra is offered in 4 trim levels: S, SV, SR, and SL.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the entry point, and it already gives you a 12.3-inch touchscreen, smartphone integration, and a strong safety feature set. It makes sense if you want the lowest price and can live with the smaller digital display and wired phone projection.
• SV: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds alloy wheels, a larger 12.3-inch digital driver display, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It’s the trim that most clearly improves everyday usability without pushing the price too high.
• SR: This is the style-and-features sweet spot. It adds the more aggressive wheel design, full-width LED taillights, heated wing mirrors, and available upgrades like the Premium Package, Bose audio, wireless charging, and ProPilot Assist. It suits you if you want the most polished mix of appearance and equipment.
• SL: This is the most upscale choice, with standard heated front seats, quilted leatherette upholstery, a power moonroof, wireless charging, and standard ProPilot Assist and surround-view monitoring. It’s the one to choose if you want the most complete Sentra experience.

ProPilot Assist and the surround-view monitor are standard on the SL and available on the SR.

Is the 2026 Nissan Sentra safe?

The 2026 Nissan Sentra has not been crash-tested by NHTSA or IIHS at the time of this writing.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard, and every Sentra includes automatic emergency braking, lane-departure mitigation, forward collision warning, blind-spot intervention, high-beam assist, and traffic sign recognition. A surround-view monitor and Nissan ProPilot Assist are available on the SR and standard on the SL.

One caveat is that not all advanced driver-assistance systems come standard on every trim, so you’ll want to check equipment carefully if safety tech is a priority.

Should I buy a 2026 Nissan Sentra or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

• 37.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• The 2026 model stands out for its stylish redesign, strong technology, and value-focused equipment.

The bottom line: If you want the most modern Sentra with the strongest tech and a more upscale feel, the 2026 model is the one to target. If you’re more price-sensitive and can live with older tech and a less dramatic design, a nearby model year may be worth considering for a lower purchase price.
