New & Used 2026 Mazda CX-90 for Sale nearRocky Mount, NC

Is the 2026 Mazda CX-90 a good car?

Yes — you rate it 5/5, and CarGurus experts rate it 6/10. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel and Safety.

The 2026 Mazda CX-90 is a three-row midsize crossover SUV that blends family-friendly space with a premium look and feel. It is aimed at buyers who want something practical but still enjoyable to drive, and its strong handling helps it deliver on that promise. The CX-90 also earns solid safety ratings, which adds to its appeal as a family SUV.

The main trade-offs are an unrefined powertrain and a cramped third row. It is also not the best choice if you want a rugged overlander, and the technology can be unintuitive.

With 46.2% of listings priced as good or great deals, you have a fairly favorable market to shop in.

Is the 2026 Mazda CX-90 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The CX-90 is described as fairly fuel efficient in standard gasoline form, and the available plug-in hybrid broadens its appeal if you want more flexibility. Mazda also frames it as a value play for shoppers who want a luxury look and feel at a competitive mass-market price.

The powertrain is also described as clunky and uneven at times, especially shortly after startup, which is worth keeping in mind if you plan to keep the vehicle long term. For used buyers, that means you should pay close attention to how smoothly it starts, shifts, and behaves in everyday driving.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Mazda CX-90?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.8% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are considering a higher-mileage example. Focus on how the powertrain behaves at startup, how the transmission feels in stop-and-go driving, and whether the cabin tech works the way you expect.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base Select trim gets the smaller 10.25-inch infotainment display, wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and fewer parking aids than higher trims. Other trims add the larger 12.3-inch screen, wireless smartphone integration, and wireless charging.
• Powertrain: The standard turbocharged 3.3-liter inline-six uses a 48-volt mild-hybrid system and idle-stop technology, while the CX-90 PHEV pairs a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with a 68-kilowatt electric motor and a 17.8-kilowatt-hour battery pack. The standard gasoline setup is rated at 25 mpg combined.
• Safety package: Standard driver-assist features include forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert, safe-exit warning, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability. Premium Sport and higher trims add active blind-spot monitors, head-on traffic avoidance steering assist, Cruising & Traffic Support, and post-collision braking, while Premium Plus adds front cross-traffic alert, automatic intersection braking, automatic rear braking with pedestrian detection, and a surround-view camera system.
• Infotainment: The base Select trim has a 10.25-inch display, Amazon Alexa compatibility, text-messaging support, and wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Higher trims get a 12.3-inch screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and wireless smartphone charging.
• Fuel efficiency: The official EPA rating for the CX-90 3.3 Turbo and Turbo S is 25 mpg combined. The CX-90 PHEV has an electric-only driving range of 26 miles.

Which 2026 Mazda CX-90 trim should I buy?

The 2026 Mazda CX-90 is offered in 9 trim levels: Select, Preferred, Premium Sport, Premium Plus, Premium Sport, Premium Plus, Preferred, Premium Sport, and Premium Plus.

Here's the short version:

• Select: This is the entry point, and it makes the most sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the CX-90 lineup. You still get the core safety suite and the standard 10.25-inch infotainment display, but you miss out on the larger screen and wireless smartphone integration found higher up.
• Preferred: This trim is a better fit if you want a more complete everyday setup without jumping too far up the price ladder. It adds the richer tech and convenience mix that makes the CX-90 feel more upscale.
• Premium Sport: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it adds more of the safety and convenience content that makes the CX-90 feel fully equipped. It also brings the higher-trim driver-assistance upgrades that improve the overall experience.
• Premium Plus: Choose this if you want the most fully loaded version of the CX-90. It adds the surround-view camera system, extra braking and cross-traffic features, and the most comprehensive safety package in the lineup.

Should I buy a 2026 Mazda CX-90 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 46.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.8% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Updates are minor, focused on wheel, color, and trim changes that unify the lineup.

Consider the 2025 if:

• It offers unusual powertrain choices and a more distinctive feel than most rivals.

The bottom line: The 2026 is the better pick if you want the latest version with favorable market conditions and strong safety credentials. If you are shopping mainly on price, the 2025 is worth a look because it delivers much of the same core appeal and may be the more budget-friendly path into the CX-90.
