New & Used 2026 Lexus IS for Sale nearPrinceton, NJ

Is the 2026 Lexus IS a good car?

The 2026 Lexus IS earns an expert rating of 6.8/10. The standout strength is Performance at 8/10.

Lexus refreshed the IS for 2026 with updated digital instrumentation, infotainment, driver-assistance tech, exterior styling, and interior design, and it also retuned the steering and suspension. That lines up well with the car’s mission as a small sports sedan for you if you want an enjoyable drive and a premium cabin.

The trade-offs are clear: the lineup is simplified to a V6-powered IS 350 with rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, and the car gives up some breadth in the process. It is also held back by poor fuel economy, limited cargo space, and incomplete safety ratings.

With 40.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market gives you some room to shop carefully.

Is the 2026 Lexus IS reliable?

The 2026 Lexus IS is described as a quality-focused sports sedan with a long-standing reputation for reliability, and the expert verdict says it should appeal if you want a small sedan that feels polished and durable. The refreshed model also keeps the smooth, refined character that helps it feel well sorted in daily use.

Its V6 is described as smooth and refined, and the car’s structure showed an uncanny amount of rigidity in testing. Lexus also says that, with proper maintenance, it will likely last a long time without requiring many repairs.

You also get two complimentary scheduled maintenance visits, though both happen during the first year of ownership.

For used buyers, the long-term risk is more about operating costs than durability, since the car’s fuel appetite and premium-fuel requirement can add up over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Lexus IS?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are considering a higher-spec example with more equipment. Focus on overall condition, because the car’s appeal depends heavily on how well the cabin, electronics, and chassis have been maintained.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Three trim levels are available, all wearing F Sport nomenclature. The F Sport Design is the least expensive, while the F Sport sharpens the focus on performance and offers an optional Handling Package. A limited-production run of F Sport Special Appearance Package models is also available. The base setup still gets the modernized interior with a 12.3-inch digital driver display and a 12.3-inch touchscreen, but the better-equipped trims add more of the sporty and convenience-focused hardware you may want.
• Powertrain: The IS 350 uses a 3.5-liter V6 with 311 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. Rear-wheel-drive models use an eight-speed automatic, while all-wheel-drive models use a six-speed automatic. Lexus recommends premium fuel, and the car is rated at 22 mpg combined.
• Safety package: Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 is standard and includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, pedestrian/cyclist/motorcyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, intersection/oncoming vehicle assist, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, lane-centering assist, evasive steering assist, traffic-sign recognition, and high-beam assist. Blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert, and a safe-exit warning system are also standard. Optional upgrades include a surround-view camera system, parking assistance with automatic braking, rear cross-traffic automatic braking, and Traffic Jam Assist. The Technology Package also adds lane-change assist and front cross-traffic alert.
• Infotainment: The cabin gets two 12.3-inch displays, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the Lexus Interface infotainment system. The connected-service setup includes features such as native navigation, a conversational voice assistant, remote engine starting, and an SOS emergency button depending on the plan.
• Fuel efficiency: The IS 350 is EPA-rated at 22 mpg combined, and the test car returned 22.5 mpg on a mixed route, 20.4 mpg on a mountainous loop, and 17.8 mpg in city-only driving.

Which 2026 Lexus IS trim should I buy?

The 2026 Lexus IS is offered in 3 trim levels: F Sport Design, F Sport, and F Sport Special Appearance Package.

Here's the short version:

• F Sport Design: This is the least expensive way into the lineup, and it gives you the refreshed IS 350 formula with the modernized cabin and standard safety tech. It makes sense if you want the new look and core V6 performance without paying for extra chassis hardware.
• F Sport: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds a firmer suspension and unlocks the optional Handling Package. If you want the most rewarding driving experience, this is the one to target.

Should I buy a 2026 Lexus IS or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 40.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Lexus refreshed the IS for 2026 with updated digital instrumentation, infotainment, driver-assistance tech, and retuned steering and suspension.

The bottom line: The 2026 model is the right pick if you want the updated cabin, the latest tech, and the sharpened driving feel in a simplified V6-only lineup. If you are more price-sensitive, a nearby model year may still be worth considering, but the 2026 gives you the most modern version of this formula.
