New & Used 2026 Dodge Charger for Sale near Illinois

Is the 2026 Dodge Charger a good car?

The 2026 Dodge Charger earns an expert rating of 7.2/10. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

It’s a uniquely powerful modern muscle car, with 550 horsepower and 531 pound-feet of torque from a turbocharged SIXPACK High Output inline-six, plus standard all-wheel drive and drive modes that still let you do smoky burnouts, drifting, and donuts. It also offers two- and four-door body styles and enough interior room for adult passengers, so it can work for you if you want muscle-car character with some everyday usability.

The trade-offs are clear: poor visibility, large exterior dimensions, and interior materials that feel cheap. For the right buyer, that’s a worthwhile compromise, especially if you want a performance-first car with some practicality. Good and great deals account for 24.3% of listings, which suggests there’s at least some market opportunity if you shop carefully.

Is the 2026 Dodge Charger reliable?

The 2026 Dodge Charger is presented as a modern, mechanically straightforward performance car, with a turbocharged inline-six, an eight-speed automatic transmission, and standard all-wheel drive. Its performance setup is described as strong throughout the rev range, with more than 90% of peak torque delivered between 3,000 rpm and 6,000 rpm, which points to a powertrain built for broad, usable output rather than peakiness.

On the ownership side, the cost-effectiveness discussion frames it as a car for buyers who prioritize horsepower over frugality, and it notes that the EPA had not yet published fuel economy estimates for gasoline versions at the time of writing. That means you should expect long-term ownership costs to be shaped more by performance-oriented use than by efficiency-minded commuting.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Dodge Charger?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 100% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

Even with clean inventory, you should still run a history report and inspect the car closely for signs of hard use, especially if it was driven the way this car invites you to drive it. Pay extra attention to the condition of the tires, brakes, wheels, and interior surfaces, since performance cars can show wear quickly. You should also make sure the parking aids and driver-assistance features work properly, because the Charger’s size makes those systems especially useful.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The interior is spacious and modern, but the cabin materials feel cheap, and the car’s large dimensions make parking with patience and care important. The four-door shape is the more practical choice if you want easier passenger access and a more family-friendly layout.
• Powertrain: The gas model uses a turbocharged SIXPACK High Output inline-six with 550 horsepower and 531 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive. It also includes Launch Control, Line Lock, and a rear-wheel-drive mode for more playful driving.
• Safety package: Active Driving Assist is standard and can manage acceleration and braking while keeping the car centered in its lane. Standard equipment also includes Forward Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking with Vulnerable Road Users Detection, Active Lane Management, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go, Blind-spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Path detection, Traffic Sign Recognition, and Drowsy Driver Detection. The Scat Pack Plus adds Turn Signal Active Blind Spot View and a 360-degree camera.
• Infotainment: A 12.3-inch touchscreen is standard, along with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Plus models add built-in navigation and a wireless charging pad, and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster is standard.
• Fuel efficiency: The EPA had not yet published fuel economy estimates for gasoline versions.

Which 2026 Dodge Charger trim should I buy?

The 2026 Dodge Charger is offered in 2 trim levels: R/T and Scat Pack.

Here's the short version:

• R/T: This is the entry point if you want the Charger’s standard all-wheel-drive muscle-car formula with 420 horsepower and the same basic body style flexibility. It gives you the core Charger experience at the lower rung of the range.
• Scat Pack: This is the best-value trim if you want the full personality of the car, with 550 horsepower, standard all-wheel drive, Launch Control, Line Lock, rear-wheel-drive mode, and the strongest performance focus in the lineup. If you care most about the Charger’s headline appeal, this is the one to target.

The Scat Pack Plus model adds Turn Signal Active Blind Spot View and a 360-degree camera, which are especially helpful given the Charger’s size.

• Choose the 2026 if: 24.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Choose the 2026 if: Accident-free inventory is excellent at 100% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Choose the 2026 if: It delivers 550 horsepower from a turbocharged SIXPACK High Output inline-six, standard all-wheel drive, and the kind of burnouts, drifting, and donuts that define the Charger’s personality.

If you’re more price-sensitive, you can wait for a better deal or shop the market carefully, but this year already gives you the core performance, practicality, and standard equipment that make the Charger stand out.
