The 2026 Equinox is a balanced, well-rounded compact crossover with stylish design, a well-executed interior, and easy-to-use technology. It’s aimed at buyers who want a straightforward SUV that handles the basics well, and it fits that role without trying to be something it isn’t.

The trade-offs are clear: less cargo space than rivals and fairly pedestrian performance. The transmission can also be irritating, especially when you want quicker response.

Its performance notes also suggest a vehicle that is adequate and composed in normal driving, even if it isn’t especially quick or exciting. That kind of straightforward mechanical character can be a plus if you want predictable day-to-day ownership.

Which 2026 Chevrolet Equinox trim should I buy?

The 2026 Chevrolet Equinox is offered in 3 trim levels: LT, Active, RS.

Here's the short version:

• LT: This is the value play if you want the most straightforward Equinox experience. It gives you the standard tech and safety setup, plus the cleanest entry point into the lineup.
• Active: This is the best-value trim if you want the most distinctive look and a more rugged vibe without changing the Equinox’s core mission. It adds the model-specific exterior treatment and unique interior touches.
• RS: Choose this if you want the sportiest appearance, with more black trim, a wider grille, and larger standard wheels.

The standard safety package is strong across the lineup, and the available Safety and Technology Package adds useful upgrades if you want more camera and alert coverage.

• Inventory: There are 6,386 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.95% compared with last year.

What is the 2026 Chevrolet Equinox's resale value?

The current average of $27,387 sits slightly below last year's $31,106.

That price movement suggests the Equinox has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future resale stability if you buy at the right price. If you’re planning to sell later, a lower entry point can reduce the amount of value you need to recover.

The model’s broad appeal, strong tech, and well-rounded packaging should help keep it relevant with used buyers. Still, resale will depend on how well you preserve condition and mileage relative to the market.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

The Safety and Technology Package adds a surround-view camera system, digital rear-view mirror, rear pedestrian alert, and traffic-sign recognition. The mixed IIHS results mean you should pay attention to the safety package content on any used example you’re considering.

Should I buy a 2026 Chevrolet Equinox or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 40.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.95% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It keeps the redesigned Equinox formula focused on everyday usability with a standard drive mode selector and new Polar White exterior color.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $25,830, the 2025 costs less than the current year's $27,387 average.
• The redesign adds fresh styling, new standard tech, and more value.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2026 if you want the latest version of the redesigned Equinox and can find a good deal. If your priority is saving money, the 2025 is the smarter value pick because it delivers much of the same core appeal for less.
