How much does the 2026 BMW X3 cost?

Prices have softened 4.23% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,746 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing trims and prices.

Is the 2026 BMW X3 a good car?

The 2026 BMW X3 earns an expert rating of 6.7/10.

The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

BMW positions the X3 as a compact luxury crossover for you if you want sports-sedan feel with SUV practicality, and the 2026 update is aimed at making the base model look and feel a little more upscale inside. The X3 is also described as fun to drive and comfortable, which supports its broad appeal.

The trade-offs are clear: the design may be polarizing, the interior materials can feel cheap, and the technology is quirky.

With 33.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2026 BMW X3 reliable?

BMW describes the X3 as a refined, smooth, and accurate performer, and the 48-volt mild hybrid system helps make the automatic engine stop/start system barely noticeable. The base 30 xDrive is also presented as a satisfying choice if you want the model’s core strengths without stretching to the M50.

BMW includes complimentary scheduled maintenance for three years or 36,000 miles, which is a useful ownership perk if you plan to keep the vehicle for a while. The X3’s cost-effectiveness also benefits from strong fuel efficiency relative to rivals.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the X3’s technology and cabin complexity can make condition and feature verification especially important.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 BMW X3?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 97.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a heavily optioned example. Focus on cabin condition, technology operation, and whether the vehicle’s driver-assistance features behave as expected in real-world use.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The X3 is offered in 2 trim levels: 30 xDrive and M50. The 30 xDrive is the value play, while the M50 adds a more aggressive look and feel along with more performance-oriented hardware.
• Powertrain: The 30 xDrive uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 255 horsepower, while the M50 uses a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder with 393 horsepower and 428 pound-feet of torque. Both come standard with all-wheel drive, and the base model is described as remarkably sprightly.
• Safety package: The available Driving Assistance Professional Package adds lane-centering assist, lane-change assist, evasive steering assist, and adaptive cruise control with hands-free traffic jam assist. Standard features include forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, and an active blind-spot monitor.
• Infotainment: The X3 uses a 12.3-inch digital driver display and a 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It runs BMW Operating System 9 with QuickSelect, includes cloud-based navigation, Augmented View video, app-store access, and in-vehicle gaming and video streaming capability.
• Fuel efficiency: The X3 is described as reasonably fuel efficient, with an official combined rating of 27 mpg for the M50 and 24.1 mpg observed on a test loop.

Which 2026 BMW X3 trim should I buy?

The 2026 BMW X3 is offered in 2 trim levels: 30 xDrive and M50.

Here's the short version:

• 30 xDrive: This is the trim you should target if you want the best value. It keeps the X3’s core appeal intact, including standard all-wheel drive and a sprightly turbocharged four-cylinder, while avoiding the M50’s much higher price.
• M50: Choose this if you want the quickest, most performance-focused X3. It adds the turbocharged inline-six, stronger hardware, and the most dramatic driving experience, but it makes the price jump much harder to justify.

The available safety package is the Driving Assistance Professional Package, and it adds several advanced driver-assistance features beyond the standard suite.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2026 BMW X3?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it makes sense to compare listings carefully and move quickly on strong examples.

• Deal availability: 33.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,746 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.23% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 97.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $51,808, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2026 BMW X3's resale value?

The current average of $51,808 sits slightly below last year's $54,096.

That price movement suggests the X3 has softened enough to help you buy more selectively today. If you’re planning to sell later, the current market points to a model that may not command the same premium it did a year ago.

For you, that means the X3 can make more sense as a purchase now than as a short-term flip. A well-kept example should still appeal to shoppers who want a compact luxury SUV with strong performance and broad usability.

Is the 2026 BMW X3 safe?

The 2026 BMW X3 earns four-star ratings in frontal crash and rollover, and five-star ratings in all other NHTSA tests. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave it a Top Safety Pick+ rating.

It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.

BMW’s standard safety suite includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, and an active blind-spot monitor that can add steering to help prevent unsafe lane changes. The available Driving Assistance Professional Package adds lane-centering assist, lane-change assist, evasive steering assist, and adaptive cruise control with hands-free traffic jam assist.

The system also includes features such as rear emergency braking, traffic light and traffic sign recognition, speed limit warning, safe exit warning, and an emergency stop system. Even so, the review notes a few hiccups in real-world use, so you should verify that the driver-assistance tech works properly on any used example you consider.

Should I buy a 2026 BMW X3 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 33.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 97.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.23% compared with last year.
• BMW’s 2026 update makes the base model look and feel a little more upscale inside.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $44,940, the 2025 costs less than the current year's $51,808 average.
• The 2025 is a bargain-minded, driver-focused compact luxury SUV with strong comfort, technology, and value.

The bottom line: If you want the newer model-year updates and can find a good deal, the 2026 is the better all-around target. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2025 remains the smarter value play.
