Is the 2026 BMW M4 a good car?

The 2026 BMW M4 stands out as a high-performance coupe or convertible that blends serious speed with everyday usability. It uses a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six, and the standard models make 473 horsepower. BMW also gives it a more modern cabin than the first M4, with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 12.3-inch driver display, and a 10.25-inch center display. Standard Adaptive M Suspension adds another layer of adjustability, and the car’s well-equipped nature helps it feel like more than just a track-focused toy.

Its character is also defined by the way BMW has shaped it visually and mechanically. The exterior features the brand’s huge vertical twin kidney grilles, wider bodywork, extra air vents, and race-car-inspired details, while the interior includes heated M Sport seats and leather trim. Buyers looking for more performance can find Competition models with 503 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque, and M xDrive all-wheel drive is available on M4 Competition models only. Even so, the 2026 BMW M4 remains appealing because it is quick, richly equipped, and still offers the kind of involving driving feel that has long defined BMW M cars. 34.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you a moderate amount of market flexibility.

Is the 2026 BMW M4 reliable?

For used buyers, long-term ownership risk is best managed by prioritizing maintenance history and condition, since a performance car like this can be costly if it has been neglected.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 BMW M4?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and verify that the car’s past matches the seller’s story. Put inspection priority on wear items, signs of hard use, and any evidence that the car has been modified or tracked. Focus on overall condition, because a performance coupe or convertible can hide expensive problems if it has been driven aggressively or maintained inconsistently.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2026 BMW M4?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have some room to shop carefully without expecting a deep bargain on every listing.

• Deal availability: 34.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 199 listings available.
• Clean inventory: 93.0% of listings are accident-free.

Should I buy a 2026 BMW M4 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 34.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

Consider the 2025 if:

• It adds a light refresh, a small power bump, and updated infotainment.

The bottom line: The 2026 is the better default choice if you want the current-year version with strong market availability and a well-equipped cabin. If you are more price-sensitive, the 2025 is worth a look because it keeps the same core formula while adding useful updates, which may help you find a better value.
