How much does the 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan cost?

There are 4,500 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for used shoppers.

Is the 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan a good car?

The 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan earns a 6/10 expert rating.

The model scores 6/10 across Look and feel, Performance, Form and function, Cost effectiveness, Technology, and Safety.

It brings a redesigned exterior and interior, a more modern interface, and the German look and feel that helps it stand apart from many compact SUV rivals. It also fits the compact-SUV brief well, with a comfortable ride and a quiet cabin.

The trade-offs are clear: it does not separate itself much from the crowd, and it has not much cargo space.

There are 44.4% good or great deals in the market, which gives you a decent chance of finding a strong value.

Is the 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan reliable?

The 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan is presented as a comprehensive improvement over its predecessor, with a redesigned cabin and updated controls that address earlier interface issues. Its powertrain is described as smoother and more linear than before, and the suspension and cabin tuning emphasize comfort over drama.

The expert evaluation also notes that the drivetrain delivers power confidently for everyday driving, while braking feels easy to modulate and the cabin stays quiet even on rougher pavement. That points to a used SUV that should feel composed in regular ownership.

Volkswagen also says the base model comes very well equipped, which can help reduce the need to add options just to get the essentials. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a compact SUV with limited cargo space may feel less versatile than you expect over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 94.5% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and verify that the specific car you’re considering has a clean maintenance and accident record. A pre-purchase inspection is especially useful if you want to confirm that the electronics, driver-assistance features, and cabin controls are working as intended. Pay close attention to interior condition and cargo-area wear, since space is limited and family use can show up quickly.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base S trim gets the standard digital instrument panel, 12.9-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the core safety suite, while higher trims add more convenience and luxury. The SE R-Line adds a head-up display, and the top SEL R-Line adds a surround-view camera system, traffic sign reader, semi-automated parking, illuminated exterior accents, massaging front seats, and a 15-inch display with native navigation.
• Powertrain: Every Tiguan uses a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Output rises to 201 horsepower, and 4Motion all-wheel drive is available on all models and standard on the top SEL R-Line.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, safe passenger exit warnings, parking proximity sensors, automatic high beams, a driver condition monitor, Emergency Assist, and post-collision braking. The SE R-Line adds a head-up display, while the SEL R-Line adds a surround-view camera system, a traffic sign reader, and a semi-automated parking system.
• Infotainment: All trims get a 12.9-inch touchscreen, a digital instrument panel, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a wireless phone charger. A 15-inch display is available and standard on the top trim, and it includes native navigation.
• Fuel efficiency: The base S trim is estimated at up to 26 mpg city, 34 mpg highway, and 29 mpg combined. With 4Motion AWD, the estimate drops to 22/30 mpg city/highway and 25 mpg combined.

Which 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan trim should I buy?

The 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan is offered in 3 trim levels: S, SE R-Line, and SEL R-Line.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the best-value choice if you want the Tiguan’s core strengths without paying for extras. You still get the standard digital instrument panel, 12.9-inch touchscreen, wireless smartphone integration, and the full safety suite, plus the base trim’s better fuel economy.
• SE R-Line: This is the step-up trim if you want a more upscale feel and the head-up display without jumping all the way to the top model. It adds useful convenience and presentation upgrades while staying closer to the middle of the range.
• SEL R-Line: This is the fully loaded choice, with standard 4Motion AWD, the 15-inch display, native navigation, massaging front seats, surround-view camera, traffic sign reader, and semi-automated parking. It makes the most sense if you want the Tiguan’s most premium equipment.

The safety package is strongest on the upper trims, where the SEL R-Line adds the most advanced driver-assistance and parking features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan?

This looks like a buyer-friendly market for the 2025 Tiguan, with meaningful deal availability and softer pricing than a year ago.

• Deal availability: 44.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 4,500 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.84% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 94.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $30,105, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan's resale value?

The current average of $30,105 sits slightly below last year's $34,943.

That price movement suggests the Tiguan has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation in the used market. If you buy at the current average or below, you’re starting from a lower cost basis than shoppers had a year ago.

For a future seller, that can help if the market stabilizes, but it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on trim, condition, and mileage. Well-kept examples with desirable equipment should hold up better than plain, higher-mileage cars.

Is the 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan safe?

The 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan’s crash test results are not yet available from either the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard advanced safety features include frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, safe passenger exit warnings, parking proximity sensors, automatic high beams, and a driver condition monitor. Emergency Assist can slow the vehicle to a stop and activate the hazard lights if the driver is incapacitated, and post-collision braking is also included.

The SE R-Line adds a head-up display, while the top SEL R-Line adds a surround-view camera system, a traffic sign reader, and a semi-automated parking system. In expert testing, the safety and driver-assist features worked as intended without false alarms or over-sensitivity.

Should I buy a 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 44.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 94.5% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.84% compared with last year.
• The redesigned cabin fixes earlier interface issues and adds a more modern, comfortable feel.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $24,435, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $30,105 average.
• It adds more desirable safety tech as standard and offers strong value.

Consider the 2026 if:

• It adds a more powerful top trim with a stronger performance and luxury focus.

The bottom line: If you want the newest design, updated tech, and a broad mix of comfort and value, the 2025 is the primary path to consider. If your budget matters most, the 2024 is the better price-first alternative, while the 2026 makes sense if you’re willing to pay more for the top-end performance upgrade.
