Is the 2025 Volkswagen Taos a good car?

Generally — the 2025 Volkswagen Taos earns a 4/5 user rating, which points to solid owner satisfaction. It stands out as one of the roomiest entries in the subcompact SUV class, and that extra space is a big part of its appeal if you want a practical, comfortable cabin without moving up to a larger SUV. Volkswagen also gives it a higher seating position, composed driving manners, and a cabin that balances everyday comfort with useful equipment. For shoppers who value space, practicality, and a well-equipped small SUV, it makes a strong case. The market also shows 35.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2025 Volkswagen Taos reliable?

Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2025 Taos benefits from a mid-cycle refresh that brought an improved powertrain and more standard safety tech, and Volkswagen also standardized the smoother eight-speed automatic. That matters because it helps address the jerky behavior that could show up with the earlier setup. The Taos is also described as practical and comfortable, with a roomy cabin and useful everyday features, which supports a more reassuring ownership experience.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure you avoid examples with unresolved condition issues, since drivetrain smoothness and overall maintenance history matter more than flashy performance in this model.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Volkswagen Taos?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.6% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report to confirm the car’s background and verify that the listing matches the seller’s claims. Prioritize a thorough inspection of the drivetrain, cabin electronics, and overall wear, since you want to make sure the refresh-era improvements are reflected in the specific vehicle you’re considering. Focus on condition and maintenance records, especially if you’re comparing multiple Taos listings at similar prices.

What is the 2025 Volkswagen Taos's resale value?

The current average of $22,982 sits slightly below last year's $27,318.

That price movement suggests the Taos has become more affordable in the used market, which can help you buy in at a lower cost today. For a future seller, that also means resale value will depend heavily on how well your vehicle is maintained and how competitively it’s priced when you decide to sell. A model with strong demand and a practical reputation can still hold buyer interest, but the current trend shows you should expect a more value-oriented market than a year ago.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2025 Volkswagen Taos or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 35.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.6% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.87% compared with last year.

The bottom line: The 2025 is the better pick if you want the refreshed version with stronger value positioning, a roomy cabin, and a market that still offers decent deal availability. If you’re especially price-sensitive, a nearby year may be worth considering, but the 2025 gives you a compelling mix of space, comfort, and current-market affordability.
