CarGurus Analysis: 2025 Toyota Sequoia
overall

Summary
With 1,214 currently listed for sale and an average price of $71,361, 31.0% of 2025 Toyota Sequoias for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2025 Toyota Sequoia 4.5 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 5.5 / 10.
96.5% of 2025 Sequoia models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2025 Toyota Sequoia stands out as Toyota’s full-size SUV, and it shares its platform with the Tundra pickup truck while using the same i-Force Max hybrid powertrain. It also brings a new reason to take notice in the form of the 1794 Edition, a Texas-themed luxury model that adds some extra appeal to the lineup. On top of that, the Sequoia seats up to eight people, which keeps it squarely in the family-hauling, full-size-SUV lane.
Its strengths are straightforward: stylish design, a powerful engine, and easy-to-use technology. The practical side is solid too, with up to 86.9 cubic feet of cargo space, up to 1,730 pounds of payload, and towing capacity of up to 9,520 pounds. Even so, the Sequoia is not without compromises. The available cargo room is limited for the class, the third row is cramped, and fuel economy is poor, so it makes the most sense for buyers who value its truck-based capability and upscale presentation more than maximum space efficiency.

I love everything about the Sequoia except for the cargo space.

Reviewed a 2025 Toyota TRD Pro 4WD on Aug 7, 2025
I think this car is a good value. I think the gas mileage really isn't any better than my 2021 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro V8 that I traded in for the Sequoia. However the features of the 2025 Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro cannot be beat. I don't think Toyota missed a detail on this beauty. The vehicle has the smoothest ride of any vehicle I have ever been in. This SUV turns on a dime. I would compare it closest to the GMC Yukon Denali, except the Sequoia is cooler not just for it's rugged exterior but the red camo leather interior that is a perfect compliment to the Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro unique character and customer base.

How much does the 2025 Toyota Sequoia cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $71,184 |
| Year-Round Low | $71,184 |
| Year-Round High | $77,197 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $77,196 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −7.79% |
Prices have softened 7.79% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 1,225 listings available, which gives you a meaningful amount of inventory to compare.
Is the 2025 Toyota Sequoia a good car?
Yes — the 2025 Toyota Sequoia earns a 4.5/5 user rating and a 5.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel and Technology.
It stands out as Toyota’s full-size SUV, with truck-based capability, seating for up to eight people, and an upscale 1794 Edition that adds extra luxury appeal. The trade-offs are clear, though: the Sequoia’s cargo room is limited for the class, the third row is cramped, and fuel economy is poor.
Poor fuel economy and not much cargo space are the biggest compromises, so you should weigh its towing strength and premium presentation against those practical limits. For shoppers who want a family hauler with strong capability and easy-to-use tech, it fits the brief well.
32.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still some attractive opportunities if you shop carefully.
Is the 2025 Toyota Sequoia reliable?
Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The Sequoia’s hybrid powertrain is built around a twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter V6, an electric motor, and a 10-speed automatic transmission, and the expert review describes it as muscular with quick acceleration. Toyota also positions the SUV as a truck-based family hauler with a reputation for dependable powertrains, which supports confidence in long-term use.
On the ownership side, the hybrid setup is meant to deliver competitive power rather than standout efficiency, so you should expect a capable but not especially frugal SUV. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that its packaging compromises and heavy-duty mission can make everyday ownership less satisfying if you need maximum space or efficiency.
What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Toyota Sequoia?
Accident-free inventory is excellent at 96.5% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one that has been used for towing. Focus on cabin condition, brake feel, and signs of hard use, since the Sequoia’s truck-based setup and towing mission can leave a bigger footprint on wear.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The lineup includes the SR5, Limited, Platinum, TRD Pro, Capstone, and 1794 Edition. The 1794 Edition adds machined-finish 20-inch wheels, more exterior chrome, Saddle Tan leather upholstery, open pore American walnut wood trim, and all-weather floor mats, while the base trim misses some of that upscale presentation.
- Powertrain: The Sequoia uses Toyota’s i-Force Max hybrid setup with a twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter V6, an electric motor, a 1.87-kilowatt-hour nickel metal hydride battery pack, and a 10-speed automatic transmission. It delivers strong output and quick acceleration, but it is not tuned for great gas mileage.
- Safety package: Every 2025 Sequoia has Toyota Safety Sense 2.5, which includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, lane-centering assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are also standard.
- Infotainment: The tech setup includes a 12.3-inch digital instrumentation panel and a 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and the system supports connected services, cloud-based navigation, remote functions, and a wireless charging pad.
- Fuel efficiency: According to the expert review, a Sequoia with 4WD should average 20 mpg in combined driving, but the test vehicle averaged 16.2 mpg on the evaluation loop.
Which 2025 Toyota Sequoia trim should I buy?
The 2025 Toyota Sequoia is offered in 6 trim levels: SR5, Limited, Platinum, TRD Pro, Capstone, and 1794 Edition.
Here's the short version:
- SR5: This is the entry point if you want the Sequoia’s core hybrid powertrain, three-row layout, and standard safety tech without paying for the luxury extras. It makes sense if you care more about capability than cabin upgrades.
- Limited: This is the trim to target if you want a better balance of equipment and value, since it builds on the lower trim with more comfort and convenience without jumping all the way to luxury pricing.
- Platinum: This is the step up for shoppers who want a more premium-feeling cabin and more upscale features, and it also serves as the foundation for the 1794 Edition.
- TRD Pro: This is the choice if you want the most rugged-looking Sequoia in the lineup, with the off-road-oriented hardware and appearance that come with that role.
- Capstone: This is the top luxury-oriented trim for buyers who want the most upscale presentation and are willing to pay for it.
- 1794 Edition: This is the best-value trim if you want the most distinctive blend of luxury and personality, with Saddle Tan leather, walnut wood trim, and extra chrome giving it a more special feel than the lower trims.
Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 is standard across the lineup, and blind-spot monitoring plus rear cross-traffic alert are standard too.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Toyota Sequoia?
This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you know what you want.
- Deal availability: 32.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,225 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.79% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 96.5% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $71,184, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2025 Toyota Sequoia's resale value?
The current average of $71,184 sits slightly below last year's $77,196.
That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can help you buy more selectively now. For a future seller, the softer pricing means you should be realistic about depreciation if you plan to trade in relatively soon. The Sequoia’s strong towing capability and full-size SUV appeal should still support demand, but its limited cargo room and poor fuel economy may keep resale pressure in check.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2025 Toyota Sequoia safe?
The 2025 Sequoia has not yet been rated by IIHS or NHTSA.
It earns a 5/10 safety score from our experts.
Every 2025 Sequoia has Toyota Safety Sense 2.5, which includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, lane-centering assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are also standard.
The main caveat is that the lane assist features can be intrusive, with false lane departure warnings and overly obvious lane keep assist behavior. If those systems bother you, you may want to test them carefully on your usual routes before buying.
Should I buy a 2025 Toyota Sequoia or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2025 if:
- 32.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is excellent at 96.5% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.79% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2025 adds the 1794 Edition, a Texas-themed luxury model that gives the lineup extra appeal.
Consider the 2024 if:
- At $66,758, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $71,184 average.
- It offers standard hybrid power with a strong feature set.
The bottom line: If you want the newer model year with the 1794 Edition and a softer market price trend, the 2025 is the better all-around pick. If your priority is saving money up front, the 2024 is the smarter value play, especially if you can find one in good condition with the equipment you want.
