CarGurus Analysis: 2025 Toyota Sequoia
overall

Summary
With 1,224 currently listed for sale and an average price of $71,811.00, 33.8% of 2025 Toyota Sequoias for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2025 Toyota Sequoia 4.5 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 5.5 / 10.
95.8% of 2025 Sequoia models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2025 Toyota Sequoia stands out as Toyota’s full-size SUV, and it shares its platform with the Tundra pickup truck while using the same i-Force Max hybrid powertrain. It also brings a new reason to take notice in the form of the 1794 Edition, a Texas-themed luxury model that adds some extra appeal to the lineup. On top of that, the Sequoia can seat up to eight people, which keeps it squarely in the family-hauling full-size SUV mission.
Its strengths are straightforward: the Sequoia offers a stylish design, a powerful engine, and easy-to-use technology. It can hold up to 86.9 cubic feet of cargo, carry up to 1,730 pounds of payload, and tow up to 9,520 pounds of trailer, so it has the numbers buyers expect from a large SUV. Even so, it is not without compromises, since its poor fuel economy, cramped third row, and limited cargo space are notable drawbacks.

I love everything about the Sequoia except for the cargo space.

Reviewed a 2025 Toyota TRD Pro 4WD on Aug 7, 2025
I think this car is a good value. I think the gas mileage really isn't any better than my 2021 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro V8 that I traded in for the Sequoia. However the features of the 2025 Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro cannot be beat. I don't think Toyota missed a detail on this beauty. The vehicle has the smoothest ride of any vehicle I have ever been in. This SUV turns on a dime. I would compare it closest to the GMC Yukon Denali, except the Sequoia is cooler not just for it's rugged exterior but the red camo leather interior that is a perfect compliment to the Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro unique character and customer base.

Is the 2025 Toyota Sequoia a good car?
Yes — 4.5/5 from users, and 5.5/10 from expert testing. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel and Technology.
The Sequoia’s appeal is clear from the data: it’s a full-size SUV with seating for up to eight, strong towing and hauling numbers, and easy-to-use technology. It also brings a Texas-themed 1794 Edition that adds some extra luxury flavor to the lineup.
The trade-offs are just as clear. Expert testing calls out poor fuel economy, a cramped third row, and limited cargo space, so you’re buying capability and presence rather than maximum family-room comfort.
With 29.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance to find a competitive price if you shop carefully.
Is the 2025 Toyota Sequoia reliable?
Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The Sequoia’s reliability case is helped by its straightforward mission and Toyota’s emphasis on durability in a truck-based full-size SUV. Expert testing also points to a muscular hybrid powertrain that delivers strong acceleration and a solid engine note, which supports the sense that the drivetrain is built for heavy-duty use.
Toyota also includes a broad set of standard driver-assistance features, which can reduce day-to-day stress when you’re living with a large SUV. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the Sequoia’s packaging compromises and fuel economy may make it less satisfying if your needs are mostly around-town family duty.
What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Toyota Sequoia?
Accident-free inventory is excellent at 96.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on a large SUV that may have been used for towing or family hauling. Pay close attention to interior wear, brake feel, tire condition, and whether the truck has been maintained consistently.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The lineup includes SR5, Limited, Platinum, TRD Pro, Capstone, and the 1794 Edition. The 1794 Edition adds machined-finish 20-inch wheels, more exterior chrome, Saddle Tan leather upholstery, open pore American walnut wood trim, and all-weather floor mats, while the cabin still shows plenty of Toyota-grade plastic underneath.
- Powertrain: The standard i-Force Max hybrid setup pairs a twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter V6, an electric motor, a 1.87-kilowatt-hour nickel metal hydride battery pack, and a 10-speed automatic transmission. It delivers strong output and quick acceleration, but it is not tuned for good gas mileage.
- Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, lane-centering assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are also standard.
- Infotainment: The test vehicle had a 12.3-inch digital instrumentation panel and a 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and the system also supports wireless charging, connected services, and a 14-speaker JBL premium sound system.
- Fuel efficiency: The expert test vehicle averaged 16.2 mpg on its evaluation loop, and Toyota says a 4WD Sequoia should average 20 mpg in combined driving.
Which 2025 Toyota Sequoia trim should I buy?
The 2025 Toyota Sequoia is offered in 6 trim levels: SR5, Limited, Platinum, TRD Pro, Capstone, and 1794 Edition.
Here's the short version:
- SR5: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the Sequoia’s core towing and seating ability without paying for extra luxury trim content. It still gets the standard hybrid powertrain and the full Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 suite, which makes it the value-minded starting point.
- Limited: This is the trim to watch if you want a more balanced mix of equipment and price. It should suit you if you want more comfort and convenience than SR5 without jumping all the way to the premium end of the lineup.
- Platinum: This is the foundation for the 1794 Edition, so it’s the step up if you want a more upscale feel before adding the Texas-themed luxury touches.
- TRD Pro: Choose this if you want the most off-road-oriented character in the lineup, since the content points to TRD-specific hardware and a more rugged setup.
- Capstone: This is the top-end luxury choice if you want the most premium presentation in the standard lineup.
- 1794 Edition: This is the standout if you want the most distinctive cabin treatment, with Saddle Tan leather, walnut trim, and extra chrome. It’s the most characterful choice, but not necessarily the best-value one.
Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 is standard across the lineup, and blind-spot monitoring plus rear cross-traffic alert are included as well.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Toyota Sequoia?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market.
- Deal availability: 29.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,233 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.26% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 96.4% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $71,692.29, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2025 Toyota Sequoia's resale value?
The current average of $71,676 sits slightly below last year's $77,284.
That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help future resale buyers feel better about shopping this model year now. If you buy at the right price, you may have less downside risk than someone who paid closer to last year’s average.
The Sequoia’s resale outlook is also tied to its niche appeal. Strong towing ability and Toyota branding help, but the model’s compromises in fuel economy and packaging can limit demand compared with more spacious rivals.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2025 Toyota Sequoia safe?
It earns a 5/10 safety score from our experts.
Every 2025 Sequoia has Toyota Safety Sense 2.5, which includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, lane-centering assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are also standard.
The system is comprehensive, but the lane-assist features can be intrusive in daily driving. Expert testing also notes frequent false lane-departure warnings and a lane keep assist system that can feel too obvious about its intervention.
Should I buy a 2025 Toyota Sequoia or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2025 if:
- 29.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is excellent at 96.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.26% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2025 adds the 1794 Edition, a Texas-themed luxury model that broadens the lineup’s appeal.
Consider the 2024 if:
- At $66,988, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $71,676 average.
- It offers a standard hybrid powertrain with improved fuel economy and strong towing and hauling ability.
The bottom line: If you want the freshest used Sequoia with the broadest current-market inventory and the 1794 Edition in play, the 2025 is the better target. If your priority is saving money and you can live with the earlier model year’s strengths, the 2024 is the smarter value play.
