How much does the 2025 Toyota 4Runner cost?

Prices have softened 8.30% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,388 listings available, which suggests you have a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2025 Toyota 4Runner a good car?

Yes — the 2025 Toyota 4Runner earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.7/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel, Performance, Form and function, and Cost effectiveness.

The redesign keeps the 4Runner’s rugged identity while adding more capability, power, comfort, and technology. It is also more composed on pavement than before, yet still aims to be a solid all-terrain vehicle for drivers who want to extend their adventures further.

One trade-off is limited rear-seat space, so you should weigh passenger room against the 4Runner’s strengths in capability and efficiency. Another is that the snorkel-equipped Trailhunter can add wind noise on road trips.

The market also looks reasonably supportive, with 35.7% of listings marked as good or great deals.

Is the 2025 Toyota 4Runner reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2025 4Runner is presented as a continuation of Toyota’s familiar formula, with a focus on durability, capability, and a more modern powertrain lineup. The expert evaluation also notes that the new model is quieter inside and more composed on pavement, which can reduce fatigue over long drives.

Its standard four-cylinder turbo is described as not weak, and the hybrid adds stronger usable power at lower speeds, especially helpful off-road. Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is standard, and the overall package suggests a vehicle built to handle regular use and rougher terrain without feeling outdated.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the specific truck you choose has been maintained well, especially if it saw frequent off-road use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Toyota 4Runner?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 94.2% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the truck has been used off-road or modified. Focus on overall condition, interior wear, and signs that the vehicle has been driven hard on trails or in harsh weather.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup ranges from entry-level trims with the standard 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder to more off-road-oriented versions, and the cabin and exterior styling are described as purposeful rather than luxurious. Base trims may leave out some of the more advanced convenience and tech features, so you should compare equipment carefully.
• Powertrain: You get a 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 317 horsepower and an available i-Force Max Hybrid that pairs the same engine with an electric motor for 326 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque. The hybrid is the stronger choice for low-speed usable power, especially if you plan to off-road.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is standard and includes frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, a traffic sign reader, automatic high beams, and Proactive Driving Assist. A blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alerts is optional.
• Infotainment: An 8-inch touchscreen is standard on supporting trims, while a 14-inch screen is available. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are offered, along with a wireless charging pad and a digital instrument panel on Hybrid variants.
• Fuel efficiency: The standard four-cylinder is estimated at 20 mpg city and 26 mpg highway, while the Hybrid is estimated at 23/24/23.

Which 2025 Toyota 4Runner trim should I buy?

The 2025 Toyota 4Runner is offered in 9 trim levels: SR5, TRD Sport, TRD Sport Premium, TRD Off-Road, TRD Off-Road Premium, Limited, Platinum, TRD Pro, Trailhunter.

Here's the short version:

• SR5: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the 4Runner’s new design and core capability at the lowest starting point, but you should expect fewer amenities than the higher trims.
• TRD Sport: This trim adds a more road-friendly flavor while keeping the 4Runner’s rugged identity intact, making it a sensible step up if you want a better-equipped daily driver.
• TRD Sport Premium: This is the better-value choice if you want more comfort and convenience without jumping all the way to the more specialized off-road models.
• TRD Off-Road: This is the trim to target if trail use matters most, since the lineup’s off-road-focused models are described as impressively capable.
• TRD Off-Road Premium: Choose this if you want the off-road hardware plus a more upscale feature set for everyday use.
• Limited: This is the more comfort-oriented choice for shoppers who want a less rugged feel and a more polished cabin experience.
• Platinum: This is the trim for buyers who want the most upscale take on the 4Runner without moving into the most specialized adventure models.
• TRD Pro: This is the most capable adventure-focused choice if you want the strongest off-road hardware and can live with the more specialized character.
• Trailhunter: This is the other top adventure model, and it is aimed at buyers who want serious off-road ability with a more overland-style setup.

Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 comes standard, while blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alerts is optional.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Toyota 4Runner?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on strong listings.

• Deal availability: 35.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,388 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.30% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 94.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $48,578, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Toyota 4Runner's resale value?

The current average of $48,578 sits slightly below last year's $52,972.

That softer pricing can help you buy more selectively now, but it also means future sellers may need to be realistic about expectations if the market stays soft. The current range still shows healthy demand for the model, especially given its redesign and stronger feature set.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Toyota 4Runner safe?

The 2025 Toyota 4Runner does not yet have crash test results from NHTSA or IIHS.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

All 4Runner models come standard with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, which includes frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, a traffic sign reader, automatic high beams, and Proactive Driving Assist. A blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alerts is optional.

One caveat is that Proactive Driving Assist can feel intrusive for some drivers, though it can be disabled.

Should I buy a 2025 Toyota 4Runner or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 35.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 94.2% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.30% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It brings a redesigned cabin, more capability, more power, and more technology.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $46,652, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $48,578 average.
• It remains a rugged, reliable off-road SUV with plenty of cargo space.

Consider the 2026 if:

• It leans harder into old-school SUV character and remains one of the better off-roaders on the market.

The bottom line: If you want the newest design, stronger powertrain choices, and better refinement, the 2025 is the better path. If your priority is saving money and you can live with the older platform, the 2024 is the value play.
