Used 2025 Nissan Frontier for Sale nearJoliet, IL

How much does the 2025 Nissan Frontier cost?

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.

There are 3,031 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2025 Nissan Frontier a good car?

Yes — the 2025 Nissan Frontier earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 8/10.

The Frontier’s appeal comes from its V6 engine, body-on-frame construction, comfortable front seats, quality construction, and traditional controls. It’s aimed at you if you want a straightforward, durable-feeling pickup with competitive towing and payload ratings rather than a tech-heavy truck.

The trade-offs are clear: the truck still has outdated technology and poor value for money, and the expert notes also point to unimpressive safety ratings. Even so, 30.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2025 Nissan Frontier reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Frontier’s reliability case is built around its traditional hardware and simple approach. It uses a V6 engine, body-on-frame construction, and conventional knobs and buttons, which can be appealing if you want a truck that feels mechanically straightforward and less dependent on complicated interfaces.

The expert evaluation also describes the truck as solidly built, with a palpable sense of quality in its materials and construction. Nissan’s Maintenance Care package covers your first three oil changes, which adds a little ownership value early on.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the truck’s older-school design and mixed safety/technology execution may age less gracefully than newer rivals.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Nissan Frontier?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.8% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage truck or one that’s been used for towing or off-road driving. Focus on overall condition, because the Frontier’s appeal depends heavily on how well it has been maintained and whether the cabin, controls, and drivetrain still feel tight and well cared for.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The S, SV, SL, PRO-X, and PRO-4X trims give you different mixes of equipment, with the PRO-4X standing out as the off-road-ready version. The base S trim continues with an 8-inch touchscreen, while most other versions get the new 12.3-inch display, so feature gaps at the lower end are worth checking closely.
• Powertrain: The Frontier uses a 3.8-liter V6 with 310 horsepower and 281 pound-feet of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. It’s not especially fuel-efficient, but it does deliver the traditional truck character many buyers want.
• Safety package: Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard and includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking sensors, and rear automatic braking. Adaptive cruise control is also standard, while the surround-view camera with off-road mode is standard on the SL and optional on some other trims.
• Infotainment: Nearly every version gets a new 12.3-inch touchscreen, along with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, NissanConnect services, and available Wi-Fi hotspot access. The base S trim keeps an 8-inch screen.
• Fuel efficiency: The Frontier PRO-4X is expected to achieve 18 mpg in combined driving, and the test truck averaged 18.8 mpg on an evaluation loop. The truck also returned 15.7 mpg in heavy city traffic, just shy of its 16-mpg city rating.

Which 2025 Nissan Frontier trim should I buy?

The 2025 Nissan Frontier is offered in 5 trim levels: S, SV, SL, PRO-X, and PRO-4X.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the entry point, and it’s the trim to consider if you want the Frontier’s core V6-and-traditional-controls formula at the lowest price. Just know that it keeps the smaller 8-inch touchscreen, so it’s the most stripped-down choice.
• SV: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds more everyday usability without pushing you into the pricier specialty models. It’s the trim to target if you want a balanced mix of equipment and value.
• SL: Choose this if you want a more upscale feel and the added convenience of the surround-view camera with off-road mode as standard.
• PRO-X: This is the rear-wheel-drive version of the off-road-inspired setup, so it suits you if you want the look and some of the attitude without the full 4WD hardware.
• PRO-4X: Pick this if you want the most capable off-road version, with Bilstein shocks, an electronic locking rear differential, skid plates, and all-terrain tires.

The safety package is standard across the lineup, but the surround-view camera with off-road mode is only standard on the SL and optional on some other trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Nissan Frontier?

This is a moderate market, so you can shop selectively without expecting a deep buyer’s market.

• Deal availability: 30.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,031 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 93.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $34,374, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Nissan Frontier's resale value?

The current average of $35,022 sits slightly below last year's $35,342.

That small decline suggests the Frontier’s market is stable rather than volatile, which is helpful if you plan to sell later. You’re not looking at a steep drop in value, but you also shouldn’t expect the truck to appreciate or hold unusually strong pricing compared with the broader market.

For a future seller, that means condition and equipment will matter a lot. A well-kept truck with desirable trim content and clean history should be easier to move than one with visible wear or a rough service record.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Nissan Frontier safe?

The 2025 Frontier earns a four-star overall rating from NHTSA, with five-star ratings in side-impact crash tests, but three-star driver protection and three-star rollover resistance ratings are causes for concern.

It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.

Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard, and it includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking sensors, and rear automatic braking. Adaptive cruise control is also standard, and the surround-view camera with off-road mode is standard on the SL and optional on some other trims.

The main caveat is that the Frontier’s safety performance is uneven. The expert notes also point to a poor result for the standard halogen headlights, while higher trim headlights were rated acceptable. Nissan also does not offer its more advanced ProPilot Assist system on this truck.

Should I buy a 2025 Nissan Frontier or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 30.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.8% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2025 adds more standard safety features and a new 12.3-inch touchscreen on most models.

Consider the 2026 if:

• It adds extra standard equipment for some models and new option packages.

The bottom line: If you want the better shopping environment and a truck with stable pricing, the 2025 is the safer primary choice. If you’re price-sensitive and find a cleaner or better-equipped 2026 at a similar cost, that newer model is worth a look.
