How much does the 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class cost?

Prices have softened 10.01% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 525 listings available, which suggests you have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class a good car?

Yes — the 5/5 user rating and 7.33/10 expert rating point to a very strong overall package. The S-Class is built around comfort, performance, technology, and refinement, and it stays current for 2025 with newly standard digital key functionality and a center airbag. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

The trade-offs are practical ones: it does not offer much cargo space, and its capacitive touch controls can be frustrating. That said, the car’s broad powertrain lineup and premium cabin materials make it a strong fit if you want a flagship luxury sedan with serious capability and a highly polished interior.

35.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The S-Class is described as a flagship sedan that emphasizes comfort, technology, and craftsmanship, and the expert review notes that its systems worked flawlessly during testing. Its performance hardware is also presented as smooth and well-integrated, with the plug-in hybrid powertrain delivering linear power and a civilized driving experience.

The first scheduled maintenance visit is on the house, which helps soften early ownership costs. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about basic dependability and more about the complexity of a highly optioned luxury sedan, so condition and service history matter a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 95.8% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on a car with advanced electronics and a long list of comfort and driver-assistance features. Focus on how the cabin controls, infotainment, and safety systems operate in real use, since the S-Class is as much about interface quality as it is about hardware. Pay close attention to whether the car has the equipment you want, because some of the most desirable features are tied to higher trims.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The cabin emphasizes premium materials, a striking horizontal dashboard layout, and a long-wheelbase body that creates a palatial passenger compartment. The base setup already feels upscale, but the higher trim adds rear-seat amenities and more luxury-focused equipment.
• Powertrain: You can choose from multiple powertrains, including a turbocharged inline-six, a twin-turbo V8, and plug-in hybrid setups. The lineup emphasizes smooth power delivery, strong acceleration, and all-wheel drive across the range.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, automated lane-change assist, evasive steering assistance, automatic reverse braking, a semi-automated parking system, and a surround-view camera system. The higher trim adds rear-seat side and seatbelt airbags.
• Infotainment: Standard tech includes a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, a 12.8-inch infotainment touchscreen, native navigation with augmented reality video overlays, voice recognition, and a Burmester surround-sound system. A digital key is also standard, and the higher trim adds rear-seat entertainment and additional convenience features.
• Fuel efficiency: The plug-in hybrid is the efficiency leader at 48 miles of electric range and 23 mpg combined once the battery is depleted. The base six-cylinder is rated at 24 mpg combined, while the V8 returns 20 mpg combined.

Which 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class trim should I buy?

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class is offered in 4 trim levels: S 500, S 580, S 580e, AMG S 63 E Performance.

Here's the short version:

• S 500: This is the entry point, but it still gives you the core S-Class experience with a turbocharged inline-six, standard all-wheel drive, and the full luxury-sedan mission intact. It’s the best-value choice if you want the S-Class name and feel without stepping into the highest price brackets.
• S 580: This trim upgrades you to a twin-turbo V8 and adds more power while keeping the same flagship comfort and technology foundation. Choose it if you want stronger straight-line performance and are willing to pay more for it.
• S 580e: This plug-in hybrid is the efficiency leader and also delivers more power than the base six-cylinder. It’s the smart pick if you can charge at home and want the best blend of performance and efficiency.
• AMG S 63 E Performance: This is the performance flagship, with massive output and the quickest acceleration in the lineup. It suits you if outright speed matters most and budget is secondary.

The higher trim also adds rear-seat side and seatbelt airbags.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 35.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 525 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.01% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 95.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $123,584, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class's resale value?

The current average of $124,938 sits slightly below last year's $138,835.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy more confidently now but may also limit upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the key takeaway is that the S-Class still carries strong flagship appeal, but its value will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment. Well-kept examples with desirable features should remain easier to move than neglected or lightly equipped ones.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class safe?

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class does not have published crash test results from either NHTSA or IIHS yet.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard advanced safety features include forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, automated lane-change assist, evasive steering assistance, automatic reverse braking, a semi-automated parking system, and a surround-view camera system. The higher trim adds rear-seat side and seatbelt airbags. In testing, the adaptive cruise control stood out for smooth transitions between acceleration and braking.

Should I buy a 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 35.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 95.8% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.01% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2025 update adds newly standard digital key functionality and a center airbag.

The bottom line: If you want the freshest version of this flagship sedan with the latest standard equipment, the 2025 is the cleanest choice. If you’re more price-sensitive, a nearby model year may still deliver much of the same S-Class experience for less, especially if you can find the right condition and equipment mix.
