Used 2025 Mazda MX-5 Miata for Sale nearSimsbury, CT

Is the 2025 Mazda MX-5 Miata a good car?

The 2025 Mazda MX-5 Miata earns a 7.5/10 expert rating, and the appeal is clear if you want a lightweight, rear-wheel-drive two-seat convertible that stays focused on driving enjoyment. The standout strength is Performance at 10/10. Mazda’s formula here is all about precise handling, strong cornering response, and a manual transmission that keeps the car feeling driver-first, while the soft-top and RF hardtop give you two ways to enjoy the roadster experience.

The trade-offs are just as obvious: cargo space is limited, the interior is cramped, and the technology can be hard to use. That makes it a poor fit if you need everyday practicality, but it works well if you value simplicity, style, and engagement more than space or straight-line speed. With 36.6% of listings priced as good or great deals, the market gives you a decent chance to find one at a fair price.

Is the 2025 Mazda MX-5 Miata reliable?

The 2025 Mazda MX-5 Miata is presented as a simple, back-to-basics sports car, and that simplicity is part of its appeal for long-term ownership. Mazda pairs the car’s lightweight, naturally aspirated 2.0-liter engine with a straightforward six-speed manual, and the overall setup is aimed more at durability and driver involvement than complexity. The performance notes also point to a car that is mechanically easy to understand and not heavily burdened by complicated hardware.

Mazda includes a five-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty and a three-year/36,000-mile limited warranty, along with 24/7 roadside assistance for three years or 36,000 miles. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about mechanical drama and more about living with the Miata’s tight cabin, limited cargo room, and less user-friendly tech.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Mazda MX-5 Miata?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been driven hard or modified. Pay close attention to the condition of the top, the interior wear, and whether the car’s equipment matches the trim you expect. Because this is a small sports car, signs of abuse, curb rash, and neglected maintenance matter more than they might on a commuter car.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Sport, Club, and Grand Touring trims each bring different equipment levels, and the RF hardtop is limited to Club and Grand Touring. The base setup is the most stripped-down, so you should check whether you want the added comfort and convenience features before settling on the cheapest version.
• Powertrain: Every MX-5 Miata uses a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder with 181 horsepower and 151 lb-ft of torque, and rear-wheel drive is standard. A six-speed manual is standard, while a six-speed automatic is available only on the Grand Touring trim.
• Safety package: Every trim gets lane-departure warning, rear cross traffic alert, blind spot monitoring and cruise control. The Grand Touring adds automatic high beams and traffic sign recognition. Top trims with the automatic transmission also get adaptive cruise control and a distance and speed alert.
• Infotainment: The cabin uses an 8.8-inch screen controlled by a rotary dial. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and wireless versions are included on Club and Grand Touring trims. Navigation is reserved for the top trim.
• Fuel efficiency: The Miata is rated at 26 mpg city, 34 mpg highway and 29 mpg combined.

Which 2025 Mazda MX-5 Miata trim should I buy?

The 2025 Mazda MX-5 Miata is offered in 4 trim levels: Sport, Club, Grand Touring and 35th Anniversary Edition.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the simplest way into the Miata experience, and it suits you if you want the lightest, most affordable version of the car’s core formula. You still get the same 2.0-liter engine, manual transmission and standard safety features, but you give up the extra comfort and convenience equipment found higher up the range.
• Club: This is the best-value trim if you want the Miata’s sporty character without jumping to the most expensive versions. It adds a more performance-focused personality, and the available Brembo BBS Recaro package makes it the most driver-oriented choice in the lineup.
• Grand Touring: This is the trim to choose if you want the most comfort and convenience. It adds leather seating, automatic transmission availability, navigation and extra safety tech, so it makes the most sense if you want a Miata that feels a little more polished for regular use.
• 35th Anniversary Edition: This is the special-edition choice if you want exclusivity and a more collectible feel. It is the rarest version in the lineup, so it suits you best if you care about appearance and limited-production appeal as much as equipment.

The Grand Touring trim adds automatic high beams and traffic sign recognition, and automatic-transmission versions also get adaptive cruise control and a distance and speed alert.

Choose the 2025 if:

• 36.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• It stays true to the lightweight, manual-first roadster formula with sharp handling and strong driver engagement.

Consider the 2024 if:

• It adds sharper steering and a more playful chassis feel.

The bottom line: Choose the 2025 if you want the Miata’s classic formula with strong market availability and a clear focus on driving fun. If you are more price-sensitive, the 2024 is worth a look because it brings meaningful chassis and infotainment updates while keeping the same elemental sports-car appeal.
