Used 2025 Mazda MX-5 Miata for Sale nearMyrtle Beach, SC

Is the 2025 Mazda MX-5 Miata a good car?

The 2025 Mazda MX-5 Miata earns a 7.5/10 from our experts. The standout strength is Performance at 10/10.

It is a rear-wheel-drive, two-seat convertible that stays focused on driving enjoyment, with a six-speed manual standard and a choice of soft top or hard top. That makes it a strong fit if you want a simple, engaging roadster with stylish design and great handling rather than everyday practicality.

The trade-offs are clear: the technology can be hard to use, cargo space is limited, and the interior is cramped. Those compromises are part of the Miata formula, but they matter if you need more space or a more relaxed daily driver.

Good and great deals make up 40.5% of listings, which gives you a decent amount of market choice.

Is the 2025 Mazda MX-5 Miata reliable?

The 2025 Mazda MX-5 Miata is built around a straightforward formula, and that simplicity is part of its appeal for long-term ownership. It uses a naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine, a standard manual transmission, and a back-to-basics layout that avoids unnecessary complexity.

The expert review also points to strong driving hardware and a well-sorted chassis, which suggests the car is engineered for durability as well as fun. Mazda’s five-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty and three-year/36,000-mile limited warranty add some ownership reassurance.

The main long-term risk for used buyers is less about mechanical drama and more about living with the Miata’s tight cabin, limited cargo room, and less user-friendly technology over time.

You should still run a history report and verify that the car has not had hidden bodywork or track use. A pre-purchase inspection is especially important if you are considering a Club or Grand Touring model with more equipment, since you will want to confirm that all features work as intended. Focus on cabin condition, top operation, and whether the car has been used in a way that matches its sporty mission.

Key things to evaluate:

The Grand Touring trim adds automatic high beams and traffic sign recognition. Top trims with the automatic transmission also get adaptive cruise control and a distance and speed alert.
• Infotainment: The MX-5 uses an 8.8-inch screen controlled by a rotary dial. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and they are wireless on Club and Grand Touring trims.
• Fuel efficiency: The Miata earns 26 mpg in the city, 34 mpg on the highway and 29 mpg combined. It also returned 28 mpg during expert testing.
