Used 2025 Mazda MX-5 Miata for Sale nearLithia, FL

Is the 2025 Mazda MX-5 Miata a good car?

The 2025 Mazda MX-5 Miata earns a 7.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 10/10.

It is a rear-wheel-drive, two-seat convertible that stays focused on driving enjoyment rather than everyday practicality. Mazda gives you a six-speed manual standard, plus a soft top or hard top, and the car is praised for great handling and precise responses, especially in corners. That makes it a strong fit if you want a simple, engaging roadster that feels best with the top down.

The trade-offs are clear: cargo space is limited, the interior is cramped, and the technology can be hard to use. Those compromises are part of the Miata formula, so you should buy it for fun and feedback rather than space or straight-line speed.

The market looks reasonably accessible, with 39.9% of listings priced as good or great deals.

Is the 2025 Mazda MX-5 Miata reliable?

The 2025 Mazda MX-5 Miata is presented as a simple, back-to-basics sports car, and that simplicity generally works in its favor. Mazda’s performance tuning emphasizes a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter engine, rear-wheel drive, and a six-speed manual, which keeps the mechanical formula straightforward. The expert evaluation also points to a car that is built around driving feel rather than complexity.

The performance notes reinforce that theme: the Miata uses excellent steering, a well-tuned suspension, and a limited-slip differential to help keep the car composed and predictable when you push it. Mazda also includes a five-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty and three years or 36,000 miles of roadside assistance, which helps support ownership confidence.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about mechanical drama and more about living with a small, tightly packaged sports car that may not suit every daily-driving need.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Mazda MX-5 Miata?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.9% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are considering a car that has been driven hard or modified. Focus on overall condition, because this is a sports car that invites enthusiastic use and the cabin, controls, and suspension can show it. Pay close attention to how the top operates, how the infotainment behaves, and whether the car feels tight and well cared for.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The soft-top model is offered in Sport, Club and Grand Touring trims, while the RF hard-top version is only available in Club and Grand Touring trims. The bottom two trims have cloth seats, while the Grand Touring adds black leather seating, with tan Nappa leather available. The Club tester also gets a rear lip spoiler, gloss black front air dam and 17-inch BBS wheels.
• Powertrain: Every MX-5 gets a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine with 181 horsepower and 151 lb-ft of torque, and rear-wheel drive. A six-speed manual is standard, while a six-speed automatic is available only on the Grand Touring trim.
• Safety package: Every trim gets lane-departure warning, rear cross traffic alert, blind spot monitoring and cruise control. The Grand Touring adds automatic high beams and traffic sign recognition. Top trims with the automatic transmission also get adaptive cruise control and a distance and speed alert.
• Infotainment: The infotainment system uses an 8.8-inch screen controlled by a rotary dial. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included on Club and Grand Touring trims. Only the top trim gets navigation.
• Fuel efficiency: The Miata earns 26 mpg city, 34 mpg highway and 29 mpg combined.

Which 2025 Mazda MX-5 Miata trim should I buy?

The 2025 Mazda MX-5 Miata is offered in 4 trim levels: Sport, Club, Grand Touring and 35th Anniversary Edition.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the simplest way into the Miata formula, and it makes sense if you want the lightest, most affordable path to the car’s core strengths without paying for extras you may not need.
• Club: This is the best-value trim for most buyers because it adds the more sporting character the Miata is known for, and it can be paired with the Brembo BBS Recaro package for even more capability.
• Grand Touring: Choose this if you want the most comfort and convenience, including leather seating, available navigation and the automatic transmission option.
• 35th Anniversary Edition: This is the special low-production choice if you want the commemorative model and its added exclusivity.

The Grand Touring trim adds automatic high beams and traffic sign recognition, and automatic-transmission top trims also get adaptive cruise control and a distance and speed alert.

Is the 2025 Mazda MX-5 Miata safe?

It earns no published crash-test rating from either NHTSA or IIHS for this generation.

Should I buy a 2025 Mazda MX-5 Miata or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 39.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.9% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• It stays true to the lightweight, driver-focused roadster formula with a manual transmission and strong cornering focus.

Consider the 2024 if:

• It adds new steering, a reworked limited-slip rear differential and updated infotainment.

The bottom line: Buy the 2025 if you want the Miata’s core strengths and are shopping the current-year used market with a moderate amount of leverage. If you are price-sensitive and want a similar formula with some meaningful updates, the 2024 is worth a look.
