How much does the 2025 Mazda CX-5 cost?

Prices have softened 7.21% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 7,950 listings available, which suggests you should have a healthy set of options to compare.

Is the 2025 Mazda CX-5 a good car?

Yes — it earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel and Performance.

The CX-5 stands out as an attractive, upscale compact SUV that still puts driving enjoyment first. Its stylish design, premium interior materials, and engaging road manners make it appealing if you want something more rewarding than the average family crossover.

The trade-offs are clear: rear-seat space is tighter than many rivals, cargo capacity is limited, and fuel economy trails the class. The 40.9% share of good or great deals suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2025 Mazda CX-5 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The CX-5’s appeal is reinforced by its refined cabin, standard all-wheel drive, and a powertrain lineup that includes a base engine for everyday use and a turbo option for stronger acceleration. The expert evaluation also notes that the vehicle’s systems operated as expected during testing, with no false alarms or technical glitches.

Mazda also includes a free first year of remote vehicle monitoring and control through its smartphone app, which adds a small ownership perk. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the same sporty tuning and below-average fuel economy can make it less forgiving if you plan to keep it for many years and rack up miles quickly.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Mazda CX-5?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or a turbo model. Focus on tire wear, brake condition, and signs that the cabin and electronics have been used heavily, since those details can tell you a lot about how the SUV was maintained.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The entry trim is light on convenience features, while the S Select adds keyless entry, dual-zone climate control, heated front seats, and synthetic leather upholstery. Higher trims bring more luxury and convenience, so you should compare equipment carefully if you want the best value.
• Powertrain: You get a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 187 horsepower and 186 pound-feet of torque, or a Turbo model with 256 hp and 320 lb-ft. The base engine is adequate for most drivers, while the turbo is the better fit if you want stronger passing power and a more confident feel.
• Safety package: Every trim includes forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control. Higher trims add more advanced equipment, including adaptive headlights, a surround-view camera system, parking sensors, traffic jam assist, a driver attention monitor, and rear automatic braking.
• Infotainment: All models use a 10.25-inch display, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard. Wireless phone integration arrives on the midrange Premium Plus trim, which also adds a wireless charging pad, while Premium Plus and above get a head-up display.
• Fuel efficiency: The base engine is rated at 26 mpg city, 30 mpg highway, and 28 mpg combined, while the Turbo returns 22 mpg city, 27 mpg highway, and 24 mpg combined.

Which 2025 Mazda CX-5 trim should I buy?

The 2025 Mazda CX-5 is offered in 5 trim levels: S, S Select, Carbon Turbo, Premium Plus, Turbo Signature.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core CX-5 experience at the lowest price. It makes sense if you want the styling, standard all-wheel drive, and basic safety tech without paying for extras.
• S Select: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds keyless entry, dual-zone climate control, heated front seats, and synthetic leather upholstery. If you want a more comfortable daily driver without jumping too far up the price ladder, this is the one to target.
• Carbon Turbo: This is the trim to choose if you want the stronger turbo engine and a more luxurious feel. It’s the best fit if performance matters to you and you’re willing to pay more for it.
• Premium Plus: This trim is the sweet spot for tech and convenience because it adds wireless phone integration, a wireless charging pad, a head-up display, adaptive headlights, a surround-view camera system, and parking sensors.
• Turbo Signature: This is the most upscale version, adding the top-end luxury and safety touches, including a driver attention monitor and rear automatic braking.

All trim levels include the core advanced safety suite, while Premium Plus and above add more convenience and visibility features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Mazda CX-5?

It looks like a buyer’s market, with solid deal availability and a meaningful price drop versus last year.

• Deal availability: 40.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 7,950 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.21% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 91.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $27,598, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Mazda CX-5's resale value?

The current average of $27,598 sits slightly below last year's $29,741.

That softer pricing can help you buy at a more favorable point in the cycle, but it also means a future resale may need to compete with a market that has already adjusted downward. If you buy well now, you may have less depreciation pressure than someone who paid closer to last year’s average.

The CX-5’s strong appeal should help support demand later, especially because it combines style, a premium-feeling cabin, and enjoyable driving manners. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Mazda CX-5 safe?

The 2025 Mazda CX-5 earns five-star ratings in all NHTSA evaluations except rollover protection, where it receives a four-star rating.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Every trim comes standard with forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control. Higher trims add adaptive headlights, a surround-view camera system, front and rear parking sensors, traffic jam assist, a driver attention monitor, and rear automatic braking.

One caveat is that the current model’s IIHS results are not yet available, so the latest crash-test picture is incomplete.

Should I buy a 2025 Mazda CX-5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 40.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.21% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It delivers a sporty, upscale feel with standard all-wheel drive and strong expert marks for style and performance.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $26,776, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $27,598 average.
• It feels refined, well-built, and impressively safe.

Consider the 2026 if:

• It brings a full redesign with more space, more tech, and standard Google built-in.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of current pricing, strong satisfaction, and the familiar CX-5 formula, the 2025 is the safest bet. If your priority is saving money, the 2024 is the value play. If you want the newest body and more modern tech, it makes sense to look ahead to the 2026.
