How much does the 2025 Mazda CX-5 cost?

Prices have softened 8.32% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 6,981 listings available, which suggests you should have a healthy number of options to compare.

Is the 2025 Mazda CX-5 a good car?

Yes — the 2025 Mazda CX-5 earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel and Performance.

It stands out as an attractive and upscale compact SUV, with stylish design, premium interior materials, and a fun-to-drive character. The trade-offs are clear: you give up some practicality, including limited cargo space and a rear seat that is not as spacious as rivals.

The market also looks reasonably supportive, with 39.0% of listings priced as good or great deals.

Is the 2025 Mazda CX-5 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The CX-5’s reliability case is helped by its mature, continuously refined design and the fact that its systems operated without false alarms or technical glitches during the test drive. The powertrain lineup is straightforward, with a six-speed automatic and standard all-wheel drive across the range, which can be a plus if you prefer proven hardware over complexity.

The first year of smartphone app remote monitoring and control is included, which adds a small ownership perk. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the same sporty tuning that makes it enjoyable can also mean higher running costs than more efficiency-focused rivals.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Mazda CX-5?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are considering a higher-mileage example or a turbo model. Focus on overall condition, since the CX-5’s appeal depends heavily on how well the interior, ride quality, and technology have been maintained.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base trim gives you the CX-5’s attractive styling and premium feel, but it lacks some of the convenience and luxury upgrades found higher up the range. If you want more comfort and a richer cabin, the midrange trims add meaningful equipment.
• Powertrain: The CX-5 is available with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine or a turbocharged version, both paired with a six-speed automatic and standard all-wheel drive. The base engine is adequate, while the turbo feels noticeably quicker and more confident.
• Safety package: Every trim includes forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control. Higher trims add features such as adaptive headlights, a surround-view camera system, parking sensors, traffic jam assist, driver attention monitoring, and rear automatic braking.
• Infotainment: Every model gets a 10.25-inch display, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included. Wireless phone integration is added in the midrange Premium Plus trim, which also brings a wireless charging pad.
• Fuel efficiency: The base engine is rated at 26 mpg city, 30 mpg highway, and 28 mpg combined. The turbo engine is rated at 22 mpg city, 27 mpg highway, and 24 mpg combined.

Which 2025 Mazda CX-5 trim should I buy?

The 2025 Mazda CX-5 is offered in 5 trim levels: S, S Select, Carbon Turbo, Premium Plus, and Turbo Signature.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core CX-5 experience at the lowest price. It makes sense if you want the styling, standard all-wheel drive, and basic safety tech without paying for extras.
• S Select: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds keyless entry, dual-zone climate control, heated front seats, and synthetic leather seat upholstery. It is the sweet spot if you want a more comfortable daily driver without jumping to the turbo models.
• Carbon Turbo: This is the trim to choose if you want the stronger turbocharged engine and a more luxurious interior. It is the right pick if driving enjoyment matters more to you than maximizing fuel economy.
• Premium Plus: This trim adds wireless phone integration, a wireless charging pad, a head-up display, adaptive headlights, a surround-view camera system, and front and rear parking sensors. It is the best choice if you want a more complete tech and convenience package.
• Turbo Signature: This is the most upscale version, adding the top-end luxury and safety touches, including a premium audio system, driver attention monitoring, and rear automatic braking. It suits you if you want the most fully equipped CX-5.

All trim levels include the standard advanced safety suite, while the higher trims add more driver-assistance and convenience features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Mazda CX-5?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient.

• Deal availability: 39.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 6,981 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.32% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 91.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $27,757, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Mazda CX-5's resale value?

The current average of $27,855 sits slightly below last year's $30,383.

That price movement suggests the CX-5 has become more accessible for buyers, which can help keep demand steady in the near term. For a future seller, the current softness means you may not see the same strong pricing momentum that existed a year ago.

Even so, the CX-5’s upscale image and strong appeal among shoppers who value style and driving enjoyment should help it remain desirable. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Mazda CX-5 safe?

The 2025 Mazda CX-5 earns five-star ratings in all NHTSA evaluations except rollover protection, where it receives a four-star rating.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Every trim comes standard with forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control. Higher trims add adaptive headlights, a surround-view camera system, front and rear parking sensors, traffic jam assist, driver attention monitoring, and rear automatic braking.

The main caveat is that the current model’s IIHS results are not yet available, so the strongest crash-test reference point comes from the prior model year’s excellent performance.

Should I buy a 2025 Mazda CX-5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 39.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.32% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It delivers an upscale, sporty compact-SUV experience with strong driving enjoyment and premium materials.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $26,876, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $27,855 average.
• It feels polished, mature, and distinctive, with stylish design and strong safety ratings.

Consider the 2026 if:

• It brings a full redesign with more space, more technology, and standard all-wheel drive.
• It is longer, wider, and more practical for rear passengers and cargo.

The bottom line: The 2025 is the right pick if you want the CX-5’s sporty personality, upscale cabin, and strong value in today’s market. If your priority is the lowest purchase price, the 2024 is the smarter bargain; if you want more space and newer tech, the 2026 is the better long-term alternative.
