Used 2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5 for Sale nearCharlotte, NC

Is the 2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5 a good car?

The 2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5 earns an 8.7/10 from our experts. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, Technology, and Safety.

Hyundai keeps the formula largely intact, and that works in your favor if you want an electric SUV that still feels distinctive and well executed. The styling remains one of its biggest strengths, and the model’s appeal is broadened by a new adventure-ready trim. It also fits buyers who value access to a broad public charging network and standard advanced safety features.

The main trade-offs are that competitors offer more storage space and real leather is not available. Those are worth weighing if you prioritize cargo room or traditional luxury materials over design and tech.

The market signal is healthy, with 37.1% of listings priced as good or great deals.

Is the 2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5 reliable?

The 2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5 is presented as a well-sorted EV that Hyundai has improved without upsetting the parts that already worked. The expert review emphasizes that Hyundai made minor but welcome changes and avoided altering the core formula, which is a good sign for used buyers who want a proven setup rather than a risky redesign.

The model’s performance notes point to a straightforward electric powertrain strategy, with single-motor rear-wheel-drive versions and dual-motor all-wheel-drive versions, plus the kind of instant torque that makes the vehicle feel responsive in everyday driving. The cost-effectiveness notes also point to Hyundai’s five-year/60,000-mile new-car warranty and complimentary charging support, which can help reduce early ownership friction.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure the battery and charging history are healthy, since that matters more than traditional engine wear on an EV.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 94.2% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re comparing trims with different wheel sizes, drivetrains, and driver-assistance equipment. Focus on overall condition, charging behavior, and whether the features you want are actually present on the specific car you’re considering.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup ranges from SE Standard Range to SEL, Limited, and XRT. The base trim is the most stripped-down, and the safety content suggests it may lack blind-spot collision-avoidance assist, so you should verify the exact equipment before you buy.
• Powertrain: The base SE Standard Range is rear-wheel drive, while SE, SEL, and Limited can be had with rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. AWD versions use dual motors and make 320 hp and 446 lb-ft of torque, while RWD versions use a single motor and can be configured for 168 hp with the standard-range battery or 225 hp with the long-range battery.
• Safety package: Highway Driving Assist 1 comes on the base trim and combines adaptive cruise control with lane-keep assist. Highway Driving Assist 2 is included on the SEL, XRT, and Limited and adds lane-changing capability and machine learning. The base trim appears to lose blind-spot collision-avoidance assist and may only offer blind-spot collision warning.
• Infotainment: You get twin 12.3-inch screens, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, standard navigation, dynamic voice recognition, Bluetooth for two devices, and five USB-C ports. The Bose Premium Audio system is limited to the Limited and XRT, and the head-up display is exclusive to the Limited.
• Range & charging: Most trims can travel 318 miles in single-motor, rear-wheel-drive form, while the base trim is rated at 245 miles. AWD reduces range to 290 miles on SE and SEL, 269 miles on the larger-wheeled Limited, and 259 miles on the XRT. Hyundai also says the model gets slightly higher battery capacity for 2025, and it includes charging support through either a complimentary ChargePoint charger installation or $400 in charging credit.
• Battery health: On a used EV, you should ask for battery state-of-health information, review charging habits, and confirm whether the car was mostly charged at home or relied heavily on DC fast charging. You should also check how much of the original battery warranty remains and make sure charging performance feels normal during a test drive.

Which 2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5 trim should I buy?

The 2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5 is offered in 4 trim levels: SE Standard Range, SE, SEL, Limited.

Here's the short version:

• SE Standard Range: This is the entry point if you want the lowest starting price and are comfortable with the most basic setup. It gets the core IONIQ 5 experience, but you should verify the safety and convenience features you care about because the base trim appears to miss some equipment found higher up.
• SE: This is the better all-around starting point if you want more flexibility than the Standard Range model. It can be configured with rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, and it gives you access to the broader range of IONIQ 5 strengths without jumping straight to the pricier trims.
• SEL: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more of the useful tech and safety content while staying below the top-end models. It also gets Highway Driving Assist 2, which makes it a strong choice if you want a more complete daily-driver package.
• Limited: This is the trim to choose if you want the most upscale equipment, including the head-up display and the more advanced audio and camera features. It makes the most sense if you want the most fully equipped IONIQ 5 rather than the best bargain.

The safety package is strongest on the SEL, XRT, and Limited trims thanks to Highway Driving Assist 2.

Is the 2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5 safe?

The 2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5 has earned a Top Safety Pick+ award from IIHS every year since its debut and has already secured five stars out of five from NHTSA. It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Hyundai’s safety suite is comprehensive and grew for 2025, with an enhanced driver attention system that adds haptic steering wheel feedback, hands-on detection, and forward attention warning. Hyundai also added reverse and forward parking-distance warning. Highway Driving Assist 1 is standard on the base trim, while Highway Driving Assist 2 comes on the SEL, XRT, and Limited and adds lane-changing capability.

One caveat is that blind-spot collision-avoidance assist appears to have been removed from the base trim, which means you should confirm the exact driver-assistance setup on any SE you’re considering.

Should I buy a 2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 37.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 94.2% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Hyundai makes minor but welcome changes and keeps the formula that already worked.

Consider the 2026 if:

• It stays one of the best EVs around with stylish looks, fast charging, good range, and practicality.

The bottom line: If you want the refreshed version of a proven EV, the 2025 is the safer path because it keeps the strengths that made the IONIQ 5 appealing in the first place. If you’re mainly shopping on value, the 2025’s market position and strong clean-inventory share make it the better near-term buy, while the 2026 is worth a look if you want the latest iteration of the same core package.
