Used 2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5 for SaleNationwide

Is the 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 a good car?

The 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 earns an 8.67/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, Technology, and Safety.

Hyundai keeps the formula largely intact, which works in your favor if you want an electric SUV with distinctive styling, a broad public charging network, and standard advanced safety features. The refreshed model also adds a new adventure-oriented trim, so you get a little more variety without losing the Ioniq 5’s core appeal.

The trade-offs are clear: competitors offer more storage space, and real leather is not available. Even so, this remains a well-equipped crossover that should fit you well if you value design, charging convenience, and a fresh-feeling EV over maximum cargo room or traditional luxury materials.

Good and great deals account for 37.0% of listings, so there’s still meaningful market availability.

Is the 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 reliable?

The 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 is presented as a carryover-style update that builds on a strong foundation rather than changing the basics, which is usually a good sign for long-term confidence. Hyundai’s approach here is to improve what already worked, and the model’s safety and technology package remains comprehensive.

The performance notes point to a straightforward EV setup with single-motor rear-wheel-drive and dual-motor all-wheel-drive configurations, plus instant electric torque that helps the SUV feel lively despite its weight. Hyundai also includes early-journey charging support with either a complimentary ChargePoint charger installation or $400 in charging credit, which can make ownership easier if you charge at home.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is the usual EV ownership question: you’ll want to pay close attention to battery condition and charging history, especially if the vehicle has seen frequent fast charging.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.9% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re comparing trims with different wheel sizes, drivetrains, and safety equipment. Focus on overall condition, charging behavior, and whether the features you want are actually present on the specific vehicle you’re considering.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes SE Standard Range, SE, SEL, Limited, and XRT. The base SE appears to lose blind-spot collision-avoidance assist, so you should verify which driver-assistance features are present if you’re shopping lower on the range.
• Powertrain: The SE Standard Range is rear-wheel drive only, while SE, SEL, and Limited can be had with rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. AWD models use dual motors and make 320 hp and 446 lb-ft of torque; RWD models use a single motor and make 168 hp with the standard-range battery or 225 hp with the long-range battery.
• Safety package: Hyundai’s driver-assistance suite includes Highway Driving Assist 1 on the base trim and Highway Driving Assist 2 on SEL, XRT, and Limited. Standard features include adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, an enhanced driver attention system with haptic steering wheel feedback and hands-on detection, forward attention warning, and reverse and forward parking-distance warning.
• Infotainment: You get twin 12.3-inch screens, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, standard navigation, Bluetooth support for two devices, and five USB-C ports. The Bose Premium Audio system is available on the Limited and XRT, while the head-up display is limited to the Limited.
• Range & charging: The base trim is rated at 245 miles of range. Most RWD models can travel 318 miles, AWD SE and SEL models are rated at 290 miles, the larger-wheeled Limited AWD is rated at 269 miles, and the XRT is rated at 259 miles. Hyundai also says the battery capacity is slightly higher for 2025, and the model supports public charging with either a complimentary ChargePoint charger installation or $400 in charging credit.
• Battery health: On a used EV, you should ask for battery state-of-health information, review charging habits, and confirm whether the car was mostly charged at home or relied heavily on DC fast charging. You should also check how much of the five-year/60,000-mile new-car warranty remains.

Which 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 trim should I buy?

The 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 is offered in 5 trim levels: SE Standard Range, SE, SEL, Limited, and XRT.

Here's the short version:

• SE Standard Range: This is the entry point if you want the lowest starting price and can live with rear-wheel drive only. It gives you the core Ioniq 5 experience, but it is the trim most likely to leave you wanting more range, power, or equipment.
• SE: This is the best-value starting point for many shoppers because it opens the door to the longer-range battery and keeps the Ioniq 5’s essential strengths intact. If you want the broadest balance of range, price, and everyday usability, this is the trim to start with.
• SEL: This is the smart step-up if you want more convenience and available all-wheel drive without jumping all the way to the top end. It also gets Highway Driving Assist 2 and wireless charging, making it a strong middle-ground choice.
• Limited: This is the trim to choose if you want the most upscale equipment, including the head-up display and the most complete tech and comfort setup. It also brings the strongest premium feel in the lineup.
• XRT: This is the one to buy if you want the new adventure-flavored version with its own styling, all-wheel drive, Terrain Mode, and added off-pavement attitude. It also gets the surround-view monitor and blind-spot view monitor, making it the most distinctive choice in the range.

The safety package is strong across the lineup, but you should note that the base trim appears to lose blind-spot collision-avoidance assist.

Is the 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 safe?

The 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 has earned a Top Safety Pick+ award every year since its debut, and it has already secured five stars out of five from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Hyundai’s safety suite includes an enhanced driver attention system with haptic steering wheel feedback, hands-on detection, and forward attention warning, plus reverse and forward parking-distance warning. Highway Driving Assist 1 is standard on the base trim, while Highway Driving Assist 2 comes on the SEL, XRT, and Limited trims and adds lane-changing capability.

One caveat to keep in mind is that the base trim appears to lose blind-spot collision-avoidance assist for this model year, so you should verify the exact equipment on any used example you’re considering.

Should I buy a 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 37.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.9% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Hyundai keeps the formula largely intact while adding a new adventure-ready trim.

Consider the 2026 if:

• It adds even stronger overall EV appeal with fast charging, good range, and a still-recommended package.

The bottom line: If you want the freshest version of the Ioniq 5 with minor updates and a broader trim mix, the 2025 is the better target. If you’re shopping mainly on price, a nearby year may still make sense, but the 2025 remains the safer bet for buyers who want the latest trim lineup and a well-rounded EV experience.
