Is the 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV a good car?

The 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV earns an 6.5/10 expert rating.

The model scores 8/10 across Cost effectiveness and Safety.

It is strongest when you want an affordable EV with more than 300 miles of range and a comfortable, practical setup for everyday use. The trade-off is that it does not bring standout EV excitement, and it also lacks Apple CarPlay.

Cons: Apple CarPlay is not offered, and it lacks typical EV performance.

For shoppers focused on value rather than flash, that combination makes sense, and 37.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.

Is the 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV reliable?

The 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV is presented as a straightforward, comfort-focused EV that emphasizes range, everyday usability, and a familiar driving experience. Its expert evaluation also points to a smooth ride and a cabin that stays quiet enough for daily use, though highway boominess can still show up.

The performance notes suggest the powertrain is tuned more for easygoing commuting than hard acceleration, and the braking and one-pedal driving behavior are described as confidence-inspiring and easy to live with. The cost-effectiveness notes also point to a meaningful ownership perk in the form of the federal EV tax credit, which can improve the value equation if you qualify.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright complexity than about making sure the battery, charging behavior, and software-related features have aged well.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.9% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are comparing multiple listings. Focus on battery condition, charging equipment, tire wear, and whether the vehicle’s software and driver-assistance features operate as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LT base model is the economical choice, and it does not feel stripped out. The RS adds larger wheels, blacked-out styling elements, red interior accents, and a few added convenience and safety packages.
• Powertrain: The standard setup uses a single 220-horsepower electric motor with front-wheel drive. Dual-motor all-wheel drive is available and raises output to 300 hp.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, a blind-spot monitor with steering intervention, automatic high beams, and GM’s safety alert seat. Optional packages add a surround-view camera with rear pedestrian alerts, then a semi-automated parking system and Super Cruise.
• Infotainment: You get a 17.7-inch touchscreen with Google Built-in and wireless charging availability, but no Apple CarPlay.
• Range & charging: The front-drive model is estimated at up to 319 miles of range, while AWD drops that to 307 miles. The battery pack is 85 kWh, DC fast charging peaks at 150 kW, and it can add about 70 miles in around 10 minutes.
• Battery health: Check battery state-of-health, confirm normal home and DC fast-charging behavior, and verify how much of the battery warranty remains.

Which 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV trim should I buy?

The 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV is offered in 2 trim levels: LT and RS.

Here's the short version:

• RS: Choose this if you want the sportier look, larger wheels, red interior accents, and the added convenience and safety packages that come with it.

The standard safety package is strong across the lineup, while the optional Active Safety Package 2 and Active Safety Package 3 add more advanced features.

That softer pricing suggests the market has moved in buyers’ favor, which can help you get in at a better entry point today. Should I buy a 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV or consider a different year?

Choose the 2025 if:

• 37.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.9% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.78% compared with last year.
• It emphasizes affordable EV ownership with more than 300 miles of range and strong value.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $25,189, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $27,174 average.
• It offers a dedicated EV platform with a practical, comfortable character.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger current-market value story and the latest year-specific pricing, the 2025 is the better default choice. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2024 is the more budget-friendly path.
