The Chevrolet Equinox is one of the most affordable electric vehicles on the market. This compact SUV was GM’s cheapest EV when it debuted for the 2024 model year, but has since ceded that ground to the revived Chevrolet Bolt.

What’s New for the 2027 Chevrolet Equinox EV
The Chevrolet Equinox arrived for the 2024 model year and has not seen a significant update since. For 2027, it's expected to get a new NACS charging port so it can plug right into Tesla Superchargers. It’s also expected to drop the available 19.2-kW home charging option, leaving just the 11.5-kW onboard charger, which is still plenty. Finally, the order guide suggests the Equinox EV will be offered with an optional premium Bose audio system.
Design
The Equinox EV doesn’t exactly stand out in a crowd, as it wears the duds of today’s typical crossover SUVs—even if it has more rounded lines than others. The nose features a full-width LED light bar up top that includes the daytime running lights, with the LED headlights set below it. Those headlights sit in a grille-like design that’s outlined in black on the LT models and fully black on the RS. Along the sides, black wheel arches and rocker panels lean into the SUV look, and the rear end gets a full-width taillight and a black bumper. Wheel sizes range from 19 to 21 inches. The LT 2 has chrome window trim instead of black, while the RS has black 21-inch wheels, a black roof, black exterior mirrors, and chrome and gloss-black lower-body trim.
Powertrain
Chevrolet offers the Equinox EV with a single motor and front-wheel drive (FWD) or a dual-motor powertrain with all-wheel drive (AWD). FWD versions make 220 horsepower and 243 pound-feet of torque, while AWD variants up the output to 300 hp and 355 lb-ft. Every Equinox EV has an 85-kWh battery; with FWD, it has 319 miles of range, while AWD versions drop slightly to 307 miles. A 400-volt electrical architecture allows the Equinox EV to add 77 miles of range in 10 minutes on a DC fast charger. An 11.5-kWh onboard charger lets this EV charge at up to 36 miles per hour on a 240-volt outlet. The Equinox EV can tow a modest 1,500 pounds.

Interior
The base Equinox EV has cloth upholstery, manually adjustable front seats, and automatic climate control. The LT 2 trim adds synthetic leather upholstery, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and ambient lighting. Driver’s seat memory, ventilated front seats, heated outboard rear seats, and dual-zone automatic climate control are optional. The Equinox EV offers a modest 26.4 cubic feet of space behind the second row and 57.2 cubic feet behind the first row with the second row folded flat. The LT 2 and RS get a hands-free power liftgate.
Technology
Every Equinox EV gets a pair of large screens, including an 11-inch digital instrument cluster and a 17.7-inch infotainment touchscreen with navigation and Google built-in. The Equinox EV does not have Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. A wireless phone charger is standard on the LT 2 and RS trims, and a satellite radio trial and wiring for a Wi-Fi hotspot are standard. The standard audio system has six speakers, and a Bose audio system is expected to be offered as an option. A head-up display and a rear-view camera mirror are optional.
