How much does the 2025 BMW X3 cost?

Prices have softened 13.85% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 5,487 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2025 BMW X3 a good car?

Generally — the 2025 BMW X3 earns a 4/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

The X3’s appeal comes through clearly in its driver-focused character, unusual design, and impressive technology, and it is framed as a bargain at its sticker price. At the same time, the expert review calls out a firm, jiggly ride on imperfect pavement, plus interior materials that can feel cheap and technology that can be unintuitive.

If you want a compact luxury SUV that prioritizes driving enjoyment and distinctive styling over traditional luxury softness, this one fits that brief well. 35.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities in the market.

Is the 2025 BMW X3 reliable?

Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2025 X3 is presented as a well-rounded compact luxury SUV with strong comfort, technology, and driving dynamics, and BMW also includes complimentary maintenance for the length of a typical lease. The expert review also describes it as a bargain at its sticker price, which can help offset ownership concerns for some buyers.

The powertrain is described as robust and responsive, with the turbocharged four-cylinder delivering strong low-end torque and nearly imperceptible start-stop behavior thanks to the mild-hybrid system. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the same technology-rich setup that makes the X3 appealing can also mean more complexity to live with if you buy a poorly maintained example.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 BMW X3?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 96.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and verify that the vehicle’s equipment matches the listing, especially if it has multiple option packages. A pre-purchase inspection is worth prioritizing because the review highlights ride quality, infotainment behavior, and steering-assist quirks that you’ll want to evaluate in person. Focus on overall condition, tire wear, and whether the cabin materials and controls show signs of heavy use.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The 2025 X3 is offered in 30 xDrive and M50 xDrive model series, and both are described as having standard all-wheel drive. The 30 xDrive is the value play if you want the core X3 experience without paying for the more powerful M50 xDrive.
• Powertrain: The 30 xDrive uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 255 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, plus a 48-volt mild-hybrid system and an eight-speed automatic. The M50 xDrive steps up to a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six with 393 hp and 428 lb-ft.
• Safety package: The standard Active Driving Assistant suite includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, active blind-spot monitoring, and front, side, and rear parking sensors. The Premium Package adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability and Steering Assistant technology, while Driving Assistant Professional adds hands-free Traffic Jam Assistant, Lane Change Assistant, and Evasion Assistant.
• Infotainment: The X3 uses BMW Curved Display hardware with Operating System 9, also known as iDrive 9. The system supports wireless Apple CarPlay, and the review notes augmented video navigation through BMW Live Cockpit Professional.
• Fuel efficiency: The review says the X3 30 xDrive is rated at 29 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2025 BMW X3 trim should I buy?

The 2025 BMW X3 is offered in 2 trim levels: 30 xDrive and M50 xDrive.

Here's the short version:

• 30 xDrive: This is the best-value choice if you want the core X3 formula. It delivers strong real-world performance, standard AWD, and the same basic design and tech experience as the pricier model, while keeping the sticker price much more approachable.
• M50 xDrive: Choose this if you want the faster, more powerful version and are willing to pay for it. It adds the turbocharged inline-six and much quicker acceleration, but the review makes clear that the 30 xDrive is already rewarding enough for many shoppers.

The standard Active Driving Assistant suite is included, while the more advanced driver-assistance features move up with the Premium Package and Driving Assistant Professional.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 BMW X3?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 35.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 5,487 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.85% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 96.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $45,836, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 BMW X3's resale value?

The current average of $45,836 sits slightly below last year's $53,205.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point today. For a future seller, it also means resale value may depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment because the model has already moved off its earlier pricing peak.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 BMW X3 safe?

The 2025 BMW X3 earns a four-star overall rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard Active Driving Assistant suite includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, active blind-spot monitoring, and front, side, and rear parking sensors. The Premium Package adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability and Steering Assistant technology, while Driving Assistant Professional adds hands-free Traffic Jam Assistant, Lane Change Assistant, and Evasion Assistant with evasive steering assist.

One caveat is that NHTSA’s four-star result appears tied to four-star ratings for the driver and front passenger in the frontal-impact crash test. The expert review also notes that Steering Assistant can be aggravating in some situations, so you’ll want to test the available driver-assistance features carefully before you buy.

Should I buy a 2025 BMW X3 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 35.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 96.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.85% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The redesign brings unusual styling, strong tech ambition, and a bargain-like value proposition.

Consider the 2026 if:

• BMW says the base model looks and feels a little more upscale inside.

The bottom line: If you want the redesigned X3 at a softer price, the 2025 is the smarter buy because it already delivers the new styling, strong performance, and broad equipment. If you’re shopping mainly on price, the 2025 also gives you a better chance to find a deal; if you want the freshest interior presentation, the 2026 is the alternative to compare.
