How much does the 2025 BMW X3 cost?

Prices have softened 14.20% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 5,612 listings available, which suggests you should have a healthy number of options to compare.

Is the 2025 BMW X3 a good car?

Generally — the 2025 BMW X3 earns a 4/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

The redesigned X3 leans into a driver-focused compact luxury SUV formula, with unusual design, a minimalist cabin, and a strong value proposition. It is especially appealing if you want comfort, technology, and engaging driving dynamics in a package that feels more distinctive than traditional luxury rivals.

The trade-offs are real: the ride can be firm and jiggly on imperfect roads, and the technology can be unintuitive. Those drawbacks matter most if you prioritize plushness and simplicity over character.

Good and great deals account for 36.8% of listings, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2025 BMW X3 reliable?

Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The X3 is presented as a well-rounded compact luxury SUV with strong value, and BMW backs it with complimentary maintenance for the length of a typical lease. Its turbocharged four-cylinder powertrain is described as robust, with a broad power band and responsive low-end behavior thanks in part to the mild-hybrid system.

That said, used buyers should still pay close attention to the infotainment system and make sure the vehicle’s electronics behave properly during a thorough test drive, since software quirks can be frustrating over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 BMW X3?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 96.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and verify that the specific car you’re considering has a clean maintenance record. A pre-purchase inspection is especially important if you want to check for wheel, suspension, or interior wear, since the X3’s ride and cabin materials can be sensitive to how the vehicle was used. Focus on whether the technology works smoothly in real-world use, because that can shape your day-to-day ownership experience.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The 30 xDrive and M50 xDrive differ most in character, with the M50 xDrive bringing the more powerful six-cylinder setup and a more performance-oriented feel. The 30 xDrive is the better value if you want the X3’s core strengths without paying for extra speed.
• Powertrain: The 30 xDrive uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 255 horsepower and a 48-volt mild-hybrid system, while the M50 xDrive uses a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six with 393 hp. The base engine is described as strong and responsive, though mid-range passing can feel less effortless than in the six-cylinder.
• Safety package: The standard Active Driving Assistant suite includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, active blind-spot monitoring with steering intervention, and front, side, and rear parking sensors. The Premium Package adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go and Steering Assistant, while Driving Assistant Professional adds Active Driving Assistant Pro, Traffic Jam Assistant, Lane Change Assistant, and Evasion Assistant.
• Infotainment: The BMW Curved Display runs Operating System 9, also known as iDrive 9. Wireless Apple CarPlay is supported, and BMW Live Cockpit Professional adds augmented video navigation. The system can be frustrating if profiles do not load correctly, so make sure the screen, controls, and connected features work as expected.
• Fuel efficiency: The base model is described as delivering 29 mpg in combined driving, and the review notes that real-world results can vary depending on how enthusiastically you drive.

Which 2025 BMW X3 trim should I buy?

The 2025 BMW X3 is offered in 2 trim levels: 30 xDrive and M50 xDrive.

Here's the short version:

• 30 xDrive: This is the best-value choice if you want the redesigned X3’s core appeal without paying for the extra speed of the M50 xDrive. It delivers the turbo four-cylinder, mild-hybrid assistance, standard all-wheel drive, and the model’s strong blend of comfort, technology, and driving enjoyment.
• M50 xDrive: Choose this if you want the quickest and most powerful version, with the turbocharged inline-six and a much more performance-focused personality. It suits you best if acceleration matters more than value.

The standard Active Driving Assistant suite is the key safety baseline, while the Premium Package and Driving Assistant Professional add more advanced driver-assistance features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 BMW X3?

This looks like a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory and enough price softness to shop carefully.

• Deal availability: 36.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 5,612 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.20% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 96.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $45,490, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 BMW X3's resale value?

The current average of $45,490 sits slightly below last year's $53,020.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at the right price and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you should be better positioned than someone who paid closer to last year’s average. The X3’s strong value proposition and solid owner satisfaction should help support demand over time.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 BMW X3 safe?

The 2025 BMW X3 earns a four-star overall rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), with four-star ratings for the driver and front passenger in the frontal-impact crash test.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard Active Driving Assistant suite includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, active blind-spot monitoring with steering intervention, and front, side, and rear parking sensors. The Premium Package adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability and Steering Assistant, while Driving Assistant Professional adds Active Driving Assistant Pro, Traffic Jam Assistant, Lane Change Assistant, and Evasion Assistant.

One caveat is that the Steering Assistant can be aggravating in some situations, so you should test it carefully before relying on it for regular use.

Should I buy a 2025 BMW X3 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 36.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 96.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.20% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The redesigned X3 brings unusual design, strong value, and impressive technology.

Consider the 2026 if:

• BMW says the base model looks and feels a little more upscale inside.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of price, availability, and the redesigned X3’s core strengths, the 2025 is the better starting point. If you’re shopping mainly on price, the 2025’s softened market and broad inventory make it the more compelling buy; if you want the slightly updated interior feel, the 2026 is worth a look.
