How much does the 2025 BMW M5 cost?

Is the 2025 BMW M5 a good car?

The 2025 BMW M5 earns an 8.5/10 expert rating.

The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, and Technology.

It is positioned as a plug-in hybrid performance sedan that blends extreme speed with everyday usability, and the expert verdict says it delivers a strong mix of acceleration, agility, and daily usefulness. The main trade-offs are a ride that leans too harsh for a luxury car and an exhaust note that is too quiet for a performance sedan.

That makes it a strong fit if you want a sedan that can handle commuting, long drives, and hard driving without changing vehicles. 36.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there is meaningful market opportunity if you shop carefully.

Is the 2025 BMW M5 reliable?

The 2025 BMW M5 is presented as a well-built, high-performance sedan with solid interior materials and a plug-in hybrid powertrain that adds everyday flexibility. The expert evaluation also describes smooth power delivery in electric-only driving and generally composed operation from the drivetrain.

Its performance content points to a sophisticated setup with a twin-turbo V8, electric motor, and standard all-wheel drive, which suggests a complex ownership experience rather than a simple one. The cost-effectiveness discussion also shows that options can push the price up quickly, so long-term ownership risk is more about complexity and repair exposure than basic usability.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 BMW M5?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 98.9% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and verify that the car’s equipment matches the listing, especially if it has expensive options. A pre-purchase inspection is worth prioritizing because this is a high-performance plug-in hybrid with a lot of hardware packed into one car. Pay close attention to tire, brake, suspension, and interior condition, since those areas can reveal how hard the car has been driven.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The standard sedan already includes AWD, rear-wheel steering, and a strong equipment list, while the Touring wagon starts at a higher price and adds body-style practicality.
• Powertrain: You get a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 paired with an electric motor and an eight-speed automatic, with up to 717 hp and 738 lb-ft of torque.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane-keep assist, speed limit info, blind-spot monitoring, and Parking Assistant with backup assist and a 360-degree camera system.
• Infotainment: The cabin uses a 14.9-inch center screen with iDrive 8.5, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, USB-C ports, and a wireless charging pad.
• Fuel efficiency: The plug-in hybrid setup can drive on electricity for up to 25 miles, and the expert test drive recorded around 14 mpg during spirited use.

The standard safety package includes automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane-keep assist, speed limit info, blind-spot monitoring, and Parking Assistant.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 BMW M5?

• Deal availability: 36.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 183 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.91% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 98.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $116,041, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 BMW M5's resale value?

The current average of $116,202 sits slightly below last year's $126,186.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled from where it was a year ago, which can help you as a buyer today. For a future seller, it means you should expect depreciation pressure to remain part of the ownership equation, especially if the car is optioned heavily or has higher mileage.

Because the current average is still close to the year-round low, the model appears to be trading in a relatively tight band. That can support resale stability if the car is well kept, but it also means condition and equipment will matter a lot when you go to sell.

Is the 2025 BMW M5 safe?

The 2025 BMW M5 has not been tested by either NHTSA or IIHS.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane-keep assist, speed limit info, blind-spot monitoring, and Parking Assistant with backup assist and a 360-degree camera system. BMW’s Driving Assistant Professional package adds side collision protection, adaptive cruise control, and Traffic Jam Assistant for hands-free driving at up to 40 mph in stop-and-go traffic.

Should I buy a 2025 BMW M5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 36.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 98.9% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.91% compared with last year.
• It delivers a first-year redesign with a plug-in hybrid powertrain and strong everyday usability.

Consider the 2026 if:

• It adds a more powerful onboard charger and more paint options.

The bottom line: Choose the 2025 if you want the redesigned M5 now and value the current market softness. If you are price-sensitive and the 2026’s small updates do not matter to you, the 2025 is the more compelling buy because it already delivers the core performance-and-utility formula.
