How much does the 2025 BMW M5 cost?

Is the 2025 BMW M5 a good car?

The 2025 BMW M5 earns an 8.5/10 expert rating.

The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, and Technology.

It is built for you if you want a sedan that can deliver extreme speed and still work as a daily driver. The overview and expert notes point to a plug-in hybrid performance car with 717 horsepower, up to 25 miles of all-electric driving, and strong agility for a car of its size.

The trade-offs are real: the exhaust is too quiet for a performance car, and the ride can feel too harsh for a luxury sedan. Even so, the M5’s brutal acceleration and broad usability make it a compelling fit if you want one car that can cover commuting, spirited driving, and longer trips.

33.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there is some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2025 BMW M5 reliable?

The 2025 BMW M5 is presented as a highly engineered performance sedan with a plug-in hybrid powertrain, standard all-wheel drive, and a strong emphasis on everyday usability. The expert notes also describe it as the most efficient M5 ever, with up to 25 miles of electric-only driving, which can reduce fuel use on short trips.

Its powertrain is described as smooth in electric-only operation, with smooth power delivery and shifts through the conventional drivetrain. The expert notes also say the car’s standard equipment and overall package make it compelling for the level of performance, space, and luxury it delivers.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that this is a complex high-performance hybrid, so upkeep and repair costs can be higher than on a simpler sedan.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 BMW M5?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 98.2% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report, verify service records, and prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection. Focus especially on signs of hard use, brake wear, tire condition, and whether the car’s performance hardware has been maintained properly.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The cabin uses a large single screen, iDrive controller, and customizable interior lighting, while the exterior styling is highly subjective. Base equipment is strong, but the car’s polarizing design and performance-focused ride mean you should make sure the spec matches your taste and comfort priorities.
• Powertrain: You get a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 paired with an electric motor and an eight-speed automatic, with a standard xDrive all-wheel drive system. The setup delivers 717 hp and 738 lb-ft of torque, plus up to 25 miles of electric-only driving.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane-keep assist, speed limit info, blind-spot monitoring, and Parking Assistant with backup assist and a 360-degree camera system. Driving Assistant Professional adds side collision protection, adaptive cruise control, and Traffic Jam Assistant with hands-free driving up to 40 mph.
• Infotainment: The M5 uses a 14.9-inch center screen with iDrive 8.5, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, USB-C outlets front and rear, and a wireless charging pad.
• Fuel efficiency: The car can travel up to 25 miles on electric power alone, and the expert tester saw around 14 mpg during mixed driving.

Which 2025 BMW M5 trim should I buy?

The 2025 BMW M5 is offered in 1 trim level: M5.

Here's the short version:

The M5 is the one to buy if you want the full experience: huge power, standard AWD, rear-wheel steering, and a plug-in hybrid setup that adds everyday flexibility. It is the best-value choice by default because there is only one trim, and it already includes the core performance hardware that defines the car.

BMW’s Parking Assistant is standard and includes backup assist and a 360-degree camera system.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 BMW M5?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 33.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 169 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.33% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 98.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $114,564, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 BMW M5's resale value?

The current average of $114,564 sits slightly below last year's $124,973.

That price movement suggests the market has softened, which can help you buy more confidently today. If you plan to sell later, the current trend may limit upside in the near term unless demand strengthens.

For a future seller, the key is to buy well and keep the car in strong condition. A lower entry price today can help offset depreciation, but a high-performance luxury hybrid like this will still reward careful ownership and complete maintenance records.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane-keep assist, speed limit info, blind-spot monitoring, and Parking Assistant with backup assist and a 360-degree camera system. Driving Assistant Professional adds side collision protection, adaptive cruise control, and Traffic Jam Assistant for hands-free driving up to 40 mph in stop-and-go traffic.

Should I buy a 2025 BMW M5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 33.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 98.2% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.33% compared with last year.
• The 2025 brings the first-ever plug-in hybrid M5 powertrain, combining extreme performance with up to 25 miles of electric-only driving.

Consider the 2026 if:

• It mainly adds a more powerful onboard charger and more paint options.

The bottom line: If you want the most compelling mix of performance and value, the 2025 is the smarter target because it already delivers the redesigned M5 experience and the market has softened. If you’re price-sensitive, shop the 2025 carefully and focus on listings near the low end of the range.
