Used 2024 Volvo XC90 for Sale near Wisconsin

How much does the 2024 Volvo XC90 cost?

Prices have softened 8.39% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,571 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2024 Volvo XC90 a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Volvo XC90 earns a 4.5/5 user rating and a 7.17/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 10/10.

The XC90’s appeal starts with its timeless design and continues with a cabin that emphasizes quality and technology. It also offers a range of powertrains, including a plug-in hybrid variant, which broadens its appeal if you want efficiency without giving up luxury-SUV presence.

The main trade-offs are that it carries over without changes this year, asks a steep price, and its safety tech is less innovative than some rivals. The expert notes also point to Pilot Assist behavior that can be inconsistent in real-world use.

With 36.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively rather than rushing.

Is the 2024 Volvo XC90 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The XC90’s reputation is built around safety, quality, and a polished ownership experience, and the expert review reinforces that it has aged well overall. Its powertrains are described as appealing and its plug-in hybrid setup is presented as a practical way to handle everyday driving on electricity for many trips.

The performance notes also suggest the XC90 Recharge can be efficient when you keep it charged and use it for shorter daily driving. If you want a luxury SUV that feels well sorted and has a strong safety identity, this model year fits that brief.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that aging hardware and complex tech can become more noticeable as mileage and wear build up.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Volvo XC90?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or a plug-in hybrid. Focus on overall condition, how the tech behaves, and whether the vehicle has been maintained consistently.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The XC90 is offered in Core, Plus, and Ultimate trim levels. Core is the most basic version, while higher trims add more luxury touches and equipment, including richer materials and available premium audio. If you want the best-value balance of equipment and price, the mid-tier trim is the one to study most closely.
• Powertrain: The B5 uses a turbocharged mild-hybrid four-cylinder engine, while the B6 adds a supercharger for extra performance. The Recharge T8 plug-in hybrid adds an electric motor and battery for the most performance, the greatest efficiency, and 32 miles of estimated electric-only range.
• Safety package: Pilot Assist pairs adaptive cruise control with lane-centering assist, and the XC90 also includes large-animal detection and a notification system that alerts you when traffic ahead starts moving again. Volvo does not offer a hands-free driving assistance system in this SUV.
• Infotainment: The XC90 uses a 9-inch touchscreen with Google Built-in, Google Maps, Google Play, and Google Assistant. Apple CarPlay is standard, and Volvo says the Google features are included at no cost for four years before subscription payments are required.
• Fuel efficiency: The Recharge T8 is estimated to average 27 mpg in combined driving as a hybrid and offers 32 miles of electric-only range.

Which 2024 Volvo XC90 trim should I buy?

The 2024 Volvo XC90 is offered in 6 trim levels: B5 Core, B5 Plus, B5 Ultimate, B6 Core, B6 Plus, and B6 Ultimate.

Here's the short version:

• B5 Core: This is the entry point if you want the XC90’s design, standard AWD, and mild-hybrid setup at the lowest price. It makes the most sense if you care more about the XC90’s core luxury-SUV character than about extra equipment.
• B5 Plus: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more comfort and convenience without jumping all the way to the top of the range. If you want a well-equipped XC90 without overspending, start here.
• B5 Ultimate: Choose this if you want the richest cabin presentation and the most upscale feel in the B5 lineup. It suits you if luxury details matter more than keeping the purchase price in check.
• B6 Core: This is the pick if you want the stronger supercharged-and-turbocharged powertrain but do not need the extra luxury features of the higher trims. It gives you more performance while staying closer to the entry price.
• B6 Plus: This is the sweet spot for buyers who want the stronger B6 powertrain and a better equipment mix. It balances performance and value better than the top trim.
• B6 Ultimate: Pick this if you want the most premium B6 experience and are willing to pay for it. It is the trim for shoppers who want the XC90 at its most luxurious without stepping into the plug-in hybrid.

Safety content notes that the XC90’s driver-assistance suite is solid, but not especially innovative, and it does not include hands-free driving assistance.

If you find a listing below $44,763, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Volvo XC90's resale value?

The current average of $45,077 sits slightly below last year's $49,207.

That decline suggests the XC90 has become more approachable for used buyers, which can help support demand if you buy at the right price. For a future seller, that means your best protection is to buy well and keep the vehicle in strong condition.

The model’s broad appeal comes from its style, safety reputation, and luxury positioning, all of which help it stay relevant in the used market. If you choose a well-kept example, you’re more likely to preserve value than if you overpay for a rough one.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Volvo XC90 safe?

The Volvo XC90 earns five-star ratings in every NHTSA assessment except rollover resistance, where it earns a four-star rating. The IIHS says it was a Top Safety Pick+ in 2023.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Volvo includes Pilot Assist, which combines adaptive cruise control with lane-centering assist, along with large-animal detection and a system that alerts you when traffic ahead starts moving again. Those features cover the basics well, but the XC90 does not offer hands-free driving assistance.

The main caveat is that Pilot Assist showed some inconsistent behavior during testing, including trouble with curves, lane markings, and one abrupt steering error on an exit ramp. That does not erase the XC90’s strong crash-test reputation, but it does mean you should evaluate the driver-assistance system carefully during a test drive.

Should I buy a 2024 Volvo XC90 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 36.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.39% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It remains appealing in the luxury SUV segment, with a plug-in hybrid option and strong style-and-safety credentials.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $38,770, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $45,077 average.
• It offers polished styling, a beautiful interior, and forward-thinking infotainment.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $51,664, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $45,077 average.
• It brings updated styling, materials, and feature offerings with a more polished presentation.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of current pricing, inventory, and the XC90’s core strengths, the 2024 is the sensible choice. If you’re price-sensitive, the 2023 is the better value play, while the 2025 makes sense if you want the refreshed version and are willing to pay more.
