Used 2024 Volvo XC90 for Sale nearRichmond, VA

How much does the 2024 Volvo XC90 cost?

Prices have softened 7.93% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,587 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing trims and prices.

Is the 2024 Volvo XC90 a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Volvo XC90 earns a 4.5/5 user rating and a 7.17/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 10/10.

The XC90’s appeal starts with its timeless styling and beautiful interior, and it also offers a range of powertrains that includes a plug-in hybrid variant. That makes it a strong fit if you want a luxury three-row SUV with a polished design and an electrified option. The trade-offs are that it shows its age in several ways, its Pilot Assist behavior is a concern, and its value proposition is weakened by a steep price tag.

Good and great deals account for 38.0% of listings, so you still have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2024 Volvo XC90 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The XC90’s safety reputation and overall polish support its reliability case, and its powertrain lineup includes a plug-in hybrid option that broadens its appeal. The expert evaluation also notes that the vehicle has aged well overall, which matters when you’re considering a used luxury SUV. Its plug-in hybrid setup is presented as efficient when kept charged, and the vehicle’s design and materials suggest a well-built ownership experience.

If you buy used, the main long-term risk is that age-related wear and increasingly dated tech may matter more than the core mechanical appeal.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Volvo XC90?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on a luxury SUV with advanced driver-assistance tech and multiple powertrain choices. Focus on overall condition, how the electronics behave, and whether the vehicle has been maintained consistently. If you’re considering a plug-in hybrid, make sure the charging system and battery-related operation feel normal in real-world driving.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The XC90 is offered in Core, Plus, and Ultimate trim levels, and the base version is the most stripped-down way into the lineup. Higher trims add richer materials and more upscale equipment, while Ultimate brings features such as massaging front seats, a premium headliner, an active air suspension, and a high-end audio system.
• Powertrain: The lineup includes B5, B6, and Recharge T8 versions. The B5 uses a turbocharged mild-hybrid four-cylinder engine, the B6 adds a supercharger for extra performance, and the Recharge T8 combines a battery and electric motor with the supercharged and turbocharged 2.0-liter engine for the most performance and the greatest efficiency.
• Safety package: Pilot Assist pairs adaptive cruise control with lane-centering assist, and the XC90 also includes an unusual large-animal detection system plus a notification that alerts a distracted driver when traffic ahead starts moving again. The system is not hands-free, and the evaluation noted some troubling behavior from Pilot Assist.
• Infotainment: The dashboard centers on a 9-inch touchscreen with Google Built-in, Google Maps, Google Play, and Google Assistant. Apple CarPlay is standard, and the system also includes SiriusXM satellite radio. A 12-inch digital instrument panel is included, while a head-up display and surround-view camera are available.
• Fuel efficiency: The Recharge T8 is estimated to deliver 27 mpg in combined driving as a hybrid and 32 miles of electric-only range.

Which 2024 Volvo XC90 trim should I buy?

The 2024 Volvo XC90 is offered in 6 trim levels: B5 Core, B5 Plus, B5 Ultimate, B6 Core, B6 Plus, and B6 Ultimate.

Here's the short version:

• B5 Core: This is the entry point if you want the XC90’s style, standard AWD, and mild-hybrid efficiency without paying for the upper-trim extras. It makes the most sense if you care more about the XC90’s design and core luxury feel than about the richest cabin upgrades.
• B5 Plus: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds meaningful comfort and convenience without jumping all the way to the top. If you want a more upscale daily driver but don’t need every luxury feature, this is the trim to target.
• B5 Ultimate: Choose this if you want the most premium B5 experience and care about the richer materials and available upscale touches. It suits you best if cabin ambiance matters more than keeping the purchase price in check.
• B6 Core: Pick this if you want the stronger supercharged-and-turbocharged powertrain but still want to stay near the lower end of the lineup. It’s the right move if performance matters more to you than luxury extras.
• B6 Plus: This is the sweet spot for buyers who want extra power and a better-equipped cabin without going all the way to the top. It balances capability and comfort well.
• B6 Ultimate: Go here if you want the most powerful mild-hybrid version with the most upscale presentation. It’s the best fit if you want the strongest non-hybrid XC90 and the richest trim experience.

Safety-wise, the XC90 includes Pilot Assist with adaptive cruise control and lane-centering assist, but it is not a hands-free system.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Volvo XC90?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 38.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,587 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.93% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 92.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $44,765, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Volvo XC90's resale value?

The current average of $44,982 sits slightly below last year's $48,854.

That softer pricing suggests the XC90 has moved into a more buyer-friendly phase, which can help you if you’re shopping now but may pressure resale if you plan to sell soon. For a future seller, the current trend means you should expect the market to reward well-kept examples more than average-condition ones. Strong presentation, clean history, and desirable equipment will matter more when the broader price trend is moving down.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Volvo XC90 safe?

The 2024 Volvo XC90 earns five-star ratings in every NHTSA assessment except rollover resistance, where it earns a four-star rating. It was also named a Top Safety Pick+ by IIHS in 2023.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

The XC90 includes Pilot Assist, which combines adaptive cruise control with lane-centering assist, along with large-animal detection and a system that alerts you when traffic ahead starts moving again. Those features cover the expected safety basics, but the evaluation also notes that the system is not especially innovative for the class. The biggest caveat is that Pilot Assist struggled in several real-world situations and made one serious steering error during testing.

Should I buy a 2024 Volvo XC90 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 38.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.93% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It remains appealing for its timeless design and plug-in hybrid availability.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $38,524, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $44,982 average.
• It brings a stylish, modernized XC90 with updated mild-hybrid powertrains and forward-thinking infotainment.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $51,571, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $44,982 average.
• It adds a substantial refresh with updated styling, materials, features, and ride-and-handling improvements.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, availability, and the XC90’s core strengths, the 2024 is the sensible target. If you’re especially price-sensitive, the 2023 offers a lower entry point with much of the same appeal. If you want the newest and most polished version, the 2025 is the upgrade path to consider.
