How much does the 2024 Toyota Prius cost?

Prices are up 1.46% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 1,471 listings available, which gives you a decent amount of shopping room.

Is the 2024 Toyota Prius a good car?

Yes — you’re looking at a 5/5 user-rated car with a 7.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.

The 2024 Prius is easy to recommend if you want an everyday hybrid that blends style, practicality, and affordability. It carries up to five people, offers all-wheel drive, and delivers up to 57 mpg in combined driving, so it fits well if you care about running costs and daily usability.

The main trade-offs are a cramped back seat and limited cargo space, and the driving position can make the instrumentation awkward to read. Even so, the Prius still makes sense if you want a fuel-efficient commuter with strong value and comfortable front seats.

Good and great deals account for 45.0% of listings, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities in the market.

Is the 2024 Toyota Prius reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2024 Prius is built around a hybrid system that pairs a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with electric motor assistance, and the expert evaluation describes it as a car that has shed many of the old compromises associated with efficiency-first hybrids. It also notes that the latest version is more enjoyable to drive than earlier Priuses, while still preserving the fuel-saving character buyers expect.

Toyota’s cost-effectiveness notes also reinforce the ownership appeal: the Prius is described as affordable, safe, practical, and exceptionally fuel efficient. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the car’s packaging compromises and visibility quirks may matter more as mileage and wear add up.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Toyota Prius?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 88% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the vehicle history report carefully and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example. Focus on cabin condition, rear-seat usability, and cargo-area wear, since those are the areas where the Prius’s packaging compromises are most likely to show up in daily use.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LE, XLE, and Limited each bring different equipment levels, and the base LE uses smaller wheels and a simpler setup than the higher trims. The XLE and Limited look more upscale thanks to their 19-inch aluminum wheels, while the Limited adds the largest touchscreen and the most premium tech.
• Powertrain: You get a 2.0-liter four-cylinder hybrid system with an electric motor and lithium-ion battery, with AWD adding a second rear electric motor. The LE is the most fuel-efficient version, while AWD slightly reduces efficiency.
• Safety package: Every Prius has Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 plus blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. Standard features include adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, automatic high-beam headlights, and road sign recognition. There are no trim-level safety gaps in this package.
• Infotainment: The LE and XLE use an 8-inch touchscreen, while the Limited gets a 12.3-inch display. Wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, Bluetooth, and connected services are included, and the Limited can add a 360-degree surround-view camera system and semi-autonomous parking assistance.
• Fuel efficiency: The LE returns 57 mpg in combined driving, or 54 mpg with AWD. The XLE and Limited are rated at 52 mpg combined, or 49 mpg with AWD.

Which 2024 Toyota Prius trim should I buy?

The 2024 Toyota Prius is offered in 3 trim levels: LE, XLE, and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• LE: This is the best-value choice if you want the strongest fuel economy and the lowest starting point. It gets the 57 mpg combined rating, the smaller 17-inch wheels, and the simpler 8-inch infotainment setup, making it the trim to target if efficiency matters most.
• XLE: This is the sweet spot for many shoppers because it adds a more upscale look and feel without jumping all the way to the top trim. You get the attractive 19-inch wheels and a better-equipped cabin, while still keeping the Prius’s core efficiency and safety strengths.
• Limited: This is the trim to buy if you want the most tech and convenience features. It brings the 12.3-inch touchscreen, JBL audio, and available 360-degree camera and parking assistance, but it’s the least value-focused choice.

Every 2024 Prius includes Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Toyota Prius?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on the right listing.

• Deal availability: 45.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,471 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 1.46% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 88.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $26,636, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Toyota Prius's resale value?

The current average of $29,535 sits slightly above last year's $29,108.

That modest increase suggests the Prius is holding value reasonably well, which is what you’d expect from a model with strong fuel economy, broad appeal, and a reputation for efficiency. If you buy one and keep it in good condition, the combination of demand and low running costs should help support future resale interest.

The market is also showing steady demand rather than a sharp spike, which is usually a healthy sign for future sellers. A car that remains desirable without overheating tends to be easier to price competitively when you’re ready to move on.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Toyota Prius safe?

The 2024 Prius earns five-star ratings in every NHTSA assessment except rollover resistance, for which it gets a four-star rating. It also earns a Top Safety Pick+ from IIHS.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Every 2024 Prius has Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 plus blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. Standard driver assistance includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, automatic high-beam headlights, and road sign recognition.

The expert evaluation also notes Proactive Driving Assist, which adds subtle steering and braking support when active. One caveat is that the Prius does not offer hands-free Traffic Jam Assist, and the lane-centering system still expects you to keep input on the wheel.

Should I buy a 2024 Toyota Prius or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 45.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 88% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices are up 1.46% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines award-winning design with strong efficiency and standard safety tech.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $27,760, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $29,535 average.
• It introduced the Prius’s sharper styling and a big power increase.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $28,842, the 2025 costs less than the current year's $29,535 average.
• It adds a Nightshade trim with a blacked-out look.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of value, safety, and efficiency, the 2024 is the strongest all-around pick. If your priority is saving money up front, the 2023 is the better budget path, while the 2025 makes sense if you want the newer styling update and can find a good deal.
