CarGurus Analysis: 2024 Toyota Highlander
Summary
With 3,245 currently listed for sale and an average price of $38,954, 36.5% of 2024 Toyota Highlander listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2024 Toyota Highlander 5 / 5 stars.

Why it stands out
The 2024 Toyota Highlander stands out as a comfortable, practical midsize SUV that leans more toward everyday usefulness than excitement. Toyota’s fourth-generation redesign brought more upscale styling and interior features, and the SUV’s body was reinforced to make it more comfortable on the road. It also remains a genuinely versatile family vehicle, with up to 84.3 cubic feet of cargo space when the seats are folded down.
For 2024, the Highlander’s appeal is helped by a broad mix of standard equipment and available upgrades. Every Highlander comes with an 8-inch touchscreen, USB inputs, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, and Toyota Safety Sense. The lineup also includes gas and hybrid powertrains, with front-wheel drive standard and all-wheel drive optional. The hybrid is especially appealing for buyers who want efficiency, since it can deliver 35 mpg combined.
At the same time, the Highlander is not the most engaging SUV to drive. Toyota’s own formula here emphasizes a smooth ride and easy ownership rather than sharp handling, and the steering is generally numb and uncommunicative. The third row is also described as tiny, so shoppers who need adult-sized space in the back may want to look carefully at how they plan to use it. Even so, the 2024 Highlander remains a strong choice for buyers who value comfort, practicality, safety, and efficiency over flash.

How much does the 2024 Toyota Highlander cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $39,103 |
| Year-Round Low | $36,658 |
| Year-Round High | $39,401 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $38,906 |
| Change vs. Last Year | +0.51% |
Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.
There are 3,290 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare before you buy.
Is the 2024 Toyota Highlander a good car?
Yes — the 2024 Toyota Highlander earns a 5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. It stands out as a practical, comfort-focused midsize SUV with strong cargo capacity, family-friendly versatility, and a reputation for being comfortable and efficient, especially in hybrid form. You also get a long list of useful everyday features, including an 8-inch touchscreen, USB inputs, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, and Toyota Safety Sense. With 36.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a meaningful number of attractive options to shop.
Is the 2024 Toyota Highlander reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The Highlander’s reliability reputation is reinforced by its comfort-focused design, practical layout, and strong safety and efficiency credentials. For used buyers, that usually translates into lower ownership stress if the vehicle has been maintained well and checked carefully before purchase.
What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Toyota Highlander?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still review the history report closely to confirm there are no hidden incidents, title issues, or inconsistent service records. Put inspection priority on overall condition, especially signs of wear that could affect comfort, electronics, or suspension feel. Since this model is valued for practicality and everyday ease, you’ll want to focus on how cleanly it has been used and maintained.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Toyota Highlander?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.
- Deal availability: 36.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 3,290 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 88.2% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $36,658, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2024 Toyota Highlander's resale value?
The current average of $39,103 sits slightly above last year's $38,906.
That small increase suggests the Highlander is holding value well rather than swinging sharply in either direction. For a future seller, that kind of stability can be helpful because it points to steady buyer interest and a market that is not under heavy price pressure. If you buy carefully and keep the vehicle in good condition, you may be able to preserve more of its value when it’s time to sell.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2024 Toyota Highlander or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2024 if:
- 36.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: The 2024 is a strong choice if you want a comfort-focused, practical midsize SUV with stable pricing and broad market availability. If you’re more price-sensitive, a nearby model year may give you a lower entry point, but the 2024 remains the better pick when you want a balanced mix of condition, demand, and confidence in ownership.
