Is the 2024 Subaru Impreza a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Subaru Impreza earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.8/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Performance and Cost effectiveness.

The 2024 Subaru Impreza stands out as an affordable all-wheel-drive economy car that gives you more capability without stretching your budget. It also brings a comfortable ride and smart features, and the revived RS trim adds a welcome dose of driver excitement.

One trade-off is that it is more of a refresh than a full redesign. Another is that the review team notes the base engine may feel underpowered compared with the RS.

37.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests you have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2024 Subaru Impreza reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2024 Subaru Impreza is presented as a practical, easy-to-live-with compact car with standard all-wheel drive and a comfortable ride. Its expert review also points to smart features and a well-rounded everyday character, which are the kinds of traits that usually matter when you plan to keep a car for the long haul.

The performance notes also suggest a reassuring ownership experience: the drivetrain is described as responsive enough for daily use, the ride stays comfortable and stable over rough surfaces, and road noise is kept quieter than before. The first scheduled maintenance visit is on the house, which is a nice ownership perk.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a car with this much practicality may have seen heavy daily use, so condition and maintenance history matter a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Subaru Impreza?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are considering a higher-mileage example. Focus on overall condition, signs of hard use, and whether the car’s features and trim level match what you expect from the listing.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Base model uses two 7-inch displays, while the Sport and RS trims get the larger 11.6-inch touchscreen. The RS also adds red stitching and red seat upholstery accents, so base-trim shoppers should expect a simpler cabin.
• Powertrain: The Base and Sport trims use a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 152 horsepower, while the RS upgrades to a 2.5-liter engine with 182 horsepower. Both use a CVT, and all-wheel drive is standard.
• Safety package: Every Impreza includes the EyeSight driver assist suite with frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, and lane-centering. The Sport adds Starlink communications features, and the RS adds blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, and automatic emergency steering.
• Infotainment: The Sport and RS trims get the 11.6-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Starlink features with a Wi-Fi hotspot. The Base model uses dual 7-inch displays instead.
• Fuel efficiency: The base engine is estimated at 27 mpg city, 34 mpg highway, and 30 mpg combined. The RS is rated only 1 mpg less across the board.

Which 2024 Subaru Impreza trim should I buy?

The 2024 Subaru Impreza is offered in 3 trim levels: Base, Sport, RS.

Here's the short version:

• Base: This is the value play if you want standard all-wheel drive at the lowest entry point. It gives you the core Impreza formula, but you give up the larger touchscreen and some of the nicer convenience and tech upgrades found higher up.
• Sport: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the larger 11.6-inch infotainment screen, wireless phone integration, and more convenience and tech features without jumping all the way to the top price point.
• RS: This is the one to choose if you want the most power and the most complete equipment set. It adds the 2.5-liter engine, sportier handling, and extra safety and comfort features, making it the most appealing pick if you want the strongest all-around package.

All Imprezas come with the EyeSight driver assist suite, while the Sport adds Starlink communications features and the RS adds blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, and automatic emergency steering.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Subaru Impreza?

The market looks moderate and selective, so you can shop with some confidence if you compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 37.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,491 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.04% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 85.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $22,059, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Subaru Impreza's resale value?

The current average of $22,675 sits slightly below last year's $23,386.

That softer pricing suggests the model has become a bit more accessible for used buyers, which can help keep demand moving. If you buy at the right price, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation pressure later.

The Impreza’s standard all-wheel drive and practical reputation should help it stay appealing to shoppers who want capability in a compact package. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Subaru Impreza safe?

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

All 2024 Subaru Imprezas come with the EyeSight driver assist suite of safety features that include frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning and lane-centering. The Sport adds Starlink communications features, and the RS adds blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, and automatic emergency steering.

The safety feature set is broad for the class, and the review notes that these systems performed as they should with no false alarms or intrusive actions. The main caveat is that crash-test results from NHTSA and IIHS are not yet available.

Should I buy a 2024 Subaru Impreza or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 37.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.04% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The revived RS trim adds a welcome dose of driver excitement, while the car still builds on its strong all-wheel-drive credentials.

The bottom line: If you want the most current version of the Impreza’s formula, the 2024 is the one to target because it combines standard all-wheel drive, a more modern cabin, and the revived RS trim. If your priority is simply finding the lowest price, a nearby model year may be worth a look, but the 2024 gives you the freshest take on the car’s strengths.
