How much does the 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class cost?

Prices have softened 7.63% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,025 listings available, which suggests a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class a good car?

The 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class earns an 8.3/10 from our experts.

The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Performance, and Technology.

It is especially appealing if you value refinement over flash, with an understated redesign, an elegant cabin, mild-hybrid engines, and standard all-wheel drive. The trade-offs are clear: the price is high, fuel economy is poor, and there are minor driving assistance irritations.

With 32.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class reliable?

The 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is presented as a polished, well-rounded luxury sedan with a modern powertrain and a strong emphasis on comfort and technology. Its mild-hybrid setup is designed to help efficiency by easing accessory loads, and the car’s refined road manners support the impression of a sophisticated daily driver.

The performance content also points to a conventional, proven layout: a turbocharged engine, a nine-speed automatic, and standard all-wheel drive. The cost-effectiveness notes add that Mercedes includes complimentary scheduled maintenance for the first three years of ownership on the BMW 5 Series, which makes that rival more attractive on upkeep, while the E-Class leans more on its technology and refinement.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that a high-end, heavily equipped luxury sedan can be expensive to keep in top shape if you skip maintenance or buy a neglected example.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on cars with lots of option packages. Focus on how the electronics, driver-assistance systems, and cabin features operate in real-world use, since this model leans heavily on technology.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The E-Class comes in E 350 4Matic and E 450 4Matic models in sedan form. The base setup already brings a strong mix of luxury and technology, but Mercedes packages many of the most desirable comfort, tech, and safety features into option packages, so you should check carefully for missing equipment.
• Powertrain: The E 350 4Matic uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 255 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, while the E 450 4Matic uses a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder with 375 hp and 369 lb-ft. Both use a nine-speed automatic, standard 4Matic all-wheel drive, and a 48-volt mild-hybrid system.
• Safety package: The Driver Assistance Package adds 15 technologies, including upgraded Pre-Safe features, Active Emergency Stop Assist, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping, lane-centering, lane-change systems, Automatic Lane Change, Active Speed Limit Assist, and Route-based Speed Adaptation. Some of these systems can feel intrusive or overly eager, so test them on your own routes.
• Infotainment: Standard equipment includes a 12.3-inch digital instrument display and a 14.4-inch infotainment touchscreen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, along with a navigation system, Wi-Fi hotspot access, and augmented video technology. The Superscreen Package adds a 12.3-inch passenger display and a dashboard camera.
• Fuel efficiency: The E 350 is rated at 27 mpg in combined driving, though the test vehicle returned 23.8 mpg.

Which 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class trim should I buy?

The 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is offered in 2 trim levels: E 350 4Matic and E 450 4Matic.

Here's the short version:

• E 350 4Matic: This is the better-value choice if you want the core E-Class experience with strong power, standard all-wheel drive, and the full luxury-tech atmosphere without paying for the extra performance of the six-cylinder model.
• E 450 4Matic: Choose this if you want more power and quicker acceleration, since it upgrades to the turbocharged inline-six and delivers the more effortless feel that suits a flagship-style luxury sedan.

The Driver Assistance Package is the key safety add-on to look for, since it brings the most complete set of advanced driver-assistance features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile opportunities.

• Deal availability: 32.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,025 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.63% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 91.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $53,325, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class's resale value?

The current average of $53,325 sits slightly below last year's $57,729.

That decline suggests the market has become a little more favorable for buyers, which can help you get into the car at a better entry point. For a future seller, it also means you should expect some depreciation pressure if you buy at the current average and try to resell soon.

Because the year-round range tops out at $57,749, well-kept examples with desirable equipment should hold up better than stripped or heavily used ones.

Is the 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class safe?

The 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Every 2024 E-Class includes numerous safety features, but if you want the full set of advanced driver-assistance systems, you need the Driver Assistance Package. That package adds upgraded Pre-Safe pre-collision features, Active Emergency Stop Assist, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping, lane-centering, lane-change systems, and Automatic Lane Change.

Some of those systems can feel a little overactive in real-world driving, especially the speed-limit and route-based speed adaptation functions, which may brake more aggressively than you want. The lane-centering system also allowed a wider line than ideal in testing, so you should try the package yourself before assuming it will suit your driving style.

Should I buy a 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 32.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.63% compared with last year.
• The redesign, standard all-wheel drive, mild-hybrid powertrains, and standout technology make this year especially compelling.

The bottom line: If you want the newest redesign and the strongest mix of technology, refinement, and standard equipment, the 2024 is the right target. If your priority is spending less, a nearby older year may be the better path, but you give up some of the fresh design and tech-forward appeal that define this model year.
