How much does the 2024 Mazda CX-5 cost?

Prices are up 1.85% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 8,883 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2024 Mazda CX-5 a good car?

Yes — you’re looking at a 5/5 user-rated SUV with an expert rating of 7.67/10. The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

The 2024 CX-5 is styled for active urban use, with taut dimensions, excellent outward visibility, a comfortable cabin, commendable quality, and impressive safety ratings. It is also genuinely enjoyable to drive, which helps it stand out in the compact crossover class.

The trade-offs are clear: fuel economy is poor in Turbo models, cargo space is limited, and the technology feels outdated.

With 42.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitively priced example.

Is the 2024 Mazda CX-5 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The CX-5’s continuous refinement, comfortable cabin, commendable quality, and strong safety reputation all point to a vehicle that has been carefully developed over time. Its standard all-wheel drive and sophisticated road manners also suggest a well-sorted platform rather than a rushed redesign.

Mazda’s performance tuning emphasizes a smooth ride, responsive handling, and confident everyday drivability, which are all good signs for long-term ownership satisfaction. The turbocharged version is less appealing if you care about efficiency, but that is more of a running-cost concern than a durability warning.

If you buy used, the main long-term risk is paying extra for a Turbo model and then living with higher fuel costs and less satisfying efficiency.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Mazda CX-5?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or a Turbo model. Focus on overall condition, maintenance records, and whether the vehicle’s equipment matches the trim you want.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The CX-5 lineup includes 2.5 S and 2.5 Turbo models, and the higher trims add more premium touches. The base setup already gives you a comfortable cabin and standard advanced safety features, while the upper trims bring more upscale equipment and a richer feel.
• Powertrain: The 2.5 S uses a 187-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, while the Turbo version delivers 256 hp on premium gas or 227 hp on regular gas. The turbocharged setup is stronger, but it is also the one called out for poor fuel economy.
• Safety package: Every CX-5 gets adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, and lane-keeping assist. Higher trims add adaptive headlights, traffic sign recognition, Traffic Jam Assist, and, on the 2.5 Turbo Signature, a driver monitoring system, surround-view camera, front and rear parking sensors, and automatic reverse braking.
• Infotainment: The CX-5 uses a 10.25-inch display, and several trim levels add wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Mazda also offers touchscreen operation for those phone platforms while driving, plus Mazda Connected Services with remote start, a find my car feature, and a Wi-Fi hotspot.
• Fuel efficiency: The Turbo model is rated at 24 mpg in combined driving, and an evaluation loop returned 22.9 mpg. If fuel economy matters, the 2.5 S is the better choice.

Which 2024 Mazda CX-5 trim should I buy?

The 2024 Mazda CX-5 is offered in 8 trim levels: Select, Preferred, Carbon Edition, Premium, Premium Plus, Carbon Turbo, Premium Turbo, and Signature.

Here's the short version:

• Select: This is the entry point to the CX-5 lineup, so it makes sense if you want the core CX-5 experience at the lowest price. It gives you the standard safety and driving character without paying for extra luxury touches.
• Preferred: This is the trim to target if you want a better balance of equipment and value. It should suit you well if you want a more upscale feel without jumping too far up the price ladder.
• Carbon Edition: Choose this if you want a more distinctive look and a step up in presentation. It adds more visual appeal while staying within the non-turbo 2.5 S family.
• Premium: This trim is a good fit if you want a more polished cabin and more comfort-oriented equipment. It moves the CX-5 closer to premium-SUV territory.
• Premium Plus: Pick this if you want the most fully equipped non-turbo CX-5. It is the best-value choice if you want luxury-leaning features without paying for the turbo engine.
• Carbon Turbo: This is the standout if you want the stronger turbocharged engine and a more distinctive appearance. The test vehicle also had Terracotta leather seats, black artificial suede inserts, a black headliner, and premium-looking exterior detailing.
• Premium Turbo: Choose this if you want turbo power with a more upscale equipment mix than the Carbon Turbo. It should appeal if performance matters but you still want a refined daily driver.
• Signature: This is the top trim, and it is the one to buy if you want the most complete CX-5 experience. It also gets the extra safety hardware reserved for the uppermost trim.

The safety-package upgrades are spread across the lineup, with the most advanced driver-assistance and parking features reserved for the Signature.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Mazda CX-5?

This looks like a moderate buyer’s market, so you can shop selectively without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 42.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 8,883 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 1.85% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 89.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $24,821, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Mazda CX-5's resale value?

The current average of $26,867 sits slightly above last year's $26,380.

That upward move suggests the CX-5 is holding demand well enough to support used values. For a future seller, that matters because a model with steady pricing is usually easier to move without heavy discounting.

The year-over-year increase is modest, which points to a stable market rather than a sharp spike. If you buy well and keep the vehicle in good condition, you should have a reasonable shot at preserving value.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Mazda CX-5 safe?

The 2024 Mazda CX-5 earns five-star ratings across the board from NHTSA, except for a four-star rollover resistance rating.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Every CX-5 comes with adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, and lane-keeping assist. Higher trims add adaptive headlights, traffic sign recognition, and Traffic Jam Assist, while the Signature gets a driver monitoring system, surround-view camera, front and rear parking sensors, and automatic reverse braking.

One caveat is that the CX-5 no longer carries the IIHS Top Safety Pick designation it has earned in the past, even though its latest ratings remain strong.

Should I buy a 2024 Mazda CX-5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 42.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices are up 1.85% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Continuous refinement makes the CX-5 feel better than ever.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $25,608, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $26,867 average.
• It remains appealing but is starting to show its age.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $27,714, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $26,867 average.
• It blends practicality with a more engaging driving character.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of current-market availability, strong safety, and polished driving manners, the 2024 is the primary pick. If price matters most, the 2023 is the smarter value play, while the 2025 makes sense if you’re willing to pay more for a newer alternative.
