How much does the 2024 Mazda CX-5 cost?

Prices are up 2.03% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 8,869 listings available, which suggests you should have a healthy range of choices.

Is the 2024 Mazda CX-5 a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Mazda CX-5 earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

Mazda positions it as an SUV for active urbanites, and the CX-5 fits that role with stylish design, excellent outward visibility, a comfortable cabin, commendable quality, and a genuinely enjoyable driving character. The trade-offs are limited cargo space and outdated technology, and the turbo models also bring poor fuel economy.

For you, that means the CX-5 makes the most sense if you value a polished cabin and engaging road manners more than maximum practicality or the latest infotainment features. Good and great deals account for 41.3% of listings, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2024 Mazda CX-5 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Mazda’s continuous refinement approach shows up in the CX-5’s polished feel, comfortable cabin, and strong safety equipment. The expert evaluation also highlights its commendable quality and balanced driving character, which are the kinds of traits that usually support dependable day-to-day ownership.

The turbo powertrain is rewarding when driven smoothly, but its fuel economy is unimpressive, so long-term ownership costs may be higher if you choose that version. If you want the best balance of durability and running costs, the base engine is the safer used-buying bet.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Mazda CX-5?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper records review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on the cabin, electronics, tires, brakes, and suspension, since this model’s appeal depends heavily on overall condition and refinement. If you’re considering a turbo model, pay extra attention to fuel-economy expectations and whether the vehicle has been maintained consistently.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup ranges from Select through Premium Plus on the 2.5 S side, while the Turbo side adds Carbon, Premium, and Signature. The base setup already includes the core safety equipment, but higher trims add features such as adaptive headlights, traffic sign recognition, Traffic Jam Assist, and, at the top end, a driver monitoring system, surround-view camera, parking sensors, and automatic reverse braking.
• Powertrain: You can choose the 2.5 S with a 187-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder or the 2.5 Turbo with 256 hp on premium gas and 227 hp on regular gas. The turbo is stronger, but the base engine is the better pick if fuel economy matters more to you.
• Safety package: Every CX-5 includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, and lane-keeping assist. Higher trims add adaptive headlights, traffic sign recognition, and Traffic Jam Assist, while the Signature gets the most advanced parking and monitoring features.
• Infotainment: The CX-5 uses a 10.25-inch display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on several trims, and touchscreen operation for those phone platforms while driving. Mazda Connected Services adds remote start, a find-my-car feature, and a Wi-Fi hotspot.
• Fuel efficiency: The turbo model is rated at 24 mpg in combined driving, and the expert evaluation recorded 22.9 mpg on its test loop.

Which 2024 Mazda CX-5 trim should I buy?

The 2024 Mazda CX-5 is offered in 8 trim levels: Select, Preferred, Carbon Edition, Premium, Premium Plus, Carbon Turbo, Premium Turbo, and Signature.

Here's the short version:

• Select: This is the entry point if you want the CX-5’s core strengths without stretching your budget. You still get the standard safety suite and the polished driving feel that define the model, so it makes sense if you care more about value than extras.
• Preferred: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it builds on the base setup without pushing you into luxury pricing. It’s the trim to target if you want a more complete CX-5 experience while staying sensible on cost.
• Carbon Edition: Choose this if you want a more distinctive look and a richer-feeling presentation. It suits you if style matters and you want the CX-5 to feel a bit more special without jumping to the top of the range.
• Premium: This is the right step if you want more comfort and convenience features while staying on the non-turbo side. It’s a good fit if you want a more upscale daily driver but do not need the turbo engine.
• Premium Plus: Pick this if you want the most fully equipped 2.5 S model. It’s the trim for you if you want a near-luxury feel without moving into the turbo lineup.
• Carbon Turbo: This is the standout if you want the strongest personality and the premium interior treatment. It adds the turbo engine’s extra punch and the upscale look and feel that make the CX-5 especially appealing.
• Premium Turbo: Choose this if you want turbo power with a more comfort-focused setup than the Carbon Turbo. It’s a strong middle ground for buyers who want performance without chasing the most distinctive appearance package.
• Signature: This is the top choice if you want the most advanced safety and convenience equipment, including the driver monitoring system, surround-view camera, parking sensors, and automatic reverse braking.

Safety-wise, the standard ADAS suite is strong across the lineup, while the most advanced driver-assistance and parking features are reserved for the Signature.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Mazda CX-5?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right listing.

• Deal availability: 41.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 8,869 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 2.03% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 88.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $24,825, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Mazda CX-5's resale value?

The current average of $26,631 sits slightly above last year's $26,102.

That upward move suggests the CX-5 is holding value reasonably well for a used compact crossover. If prices continue to rise at this pace, sellers should benefit from steady demand rather than sharp depreciation.

For you as a future seller, the key advantage is that the CX-5’s appeal is tied to qualities buyers keep rewarding: style, comfort, and driving enjoyment. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Mazda CX-5 safe?

The 2024 Mazda CX-5 earns five-star ratings across the board from NHTSA, except for a four-star rollover resistance rating.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Mazda equips every version with adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, and lane-keeping assist. Higher trims add adaptive headlights, traffic sign recognition, and Traffic Jam Assist, while the Signature gets a driver monitoring system, surround-view camera, front and rear parking sensors, and automatic reverse braking.

One caveat is that the CX-5 has not earned its previous IIHS Top Safety Pick designation in 2024, even though its ratings remain strong. That makes the standard safety equipment reassuring, but it also means you should compare trim-level safety features carefully if you want the most complete package.

Should I buy a 2024 Mazda CX-5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 41.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices are up 2.03% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Mazda’s continuous refinement makes the CX-5 feel polished, upscale, and enjoyable to drive.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $25,090, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $26,631 average.
• It’s a carryover year with familiar styling and strong comfort.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $27,276, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $26,631 average.
• It keeps the sporty, upscale character while leaning further into style and driving enjoyment.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of value, refinement, and market availability, the 2024 is the primary pick. If your budget is tighter, the 2023 can save you money while keeping much of the same appeal.
