How much does the 2024 Mazda CX-5 cost?

Prices are up 2.11% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 9,008 listings available, which suggests you should have a healthy number of options to compare.

Is the 2024 Mazda CX-5 a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Mazda CX-5 earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

The CX-5 is positioned as an SUV for active urban use, with taut dimensions, excellent outward visibility, a comfortable cabin, commendable quality, and impressive safety ratings. It is also genuinely enjoyable to drive, which helps it stand out in the compact crossover class.

The trade-offs are clear: fuel economy is poor in Turbo models, cargo space is limited, and the technology feels outdated. Even so, the CX-5’s blend of polish, driving enjoyment, and everyday usability gives it a distinctive appeal.

42.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you a decent chance of finding a competitive offer.

Is the 2024 Mazda CX-5 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2024 CX-5 benefits from continuous refinement rather than a full redesign, and Mazda has steadily improved its interior materials, seating, technology, drivetrain, and suspension over time. That kind of incremental development supports confidence in the vehicle’s overall polish and day-to-day dependability.

Its performance character is also well sorted: the turbocharged engine is described as a good match once you adapt to its power delivery, and the standard all-wheel-drive setup adds confidence in varied conditions. Mazda also includes a first scheduled maintenance visit on the house on some competing models, but that perk is not part of the CX-5’s ownership story here.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the CX-5’s aging technology and limited practicality may matter more as mileage and ownership time add up.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Mazda CX-5?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 89% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the vehicle history report carefully and prioritize a thorough inspection, especially if you are considering a higher-mileage example or a Turbo model. Focus on overall condition, tire wear, brake feel, cabin wear, and whether the technology and safety features operate as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup spans 2.5 S and 2.5 Turbo models, with the S offering Select, Preferred, Carbon Edition, Premium, and Premium Plus trims, while the Turbo side includes Carbon, Premium, and Signature. Base versions are more basic than higher trims, and the upper trims add more premium equipment and safety upgrades.
• Powertrain: The 2.5 S uses a 187-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, while the Turbo gets a 256-hp turbocharged 2.5-liter four, or 227 hp on regular gas. The turbo delivers stronger torque, but fuel economy is poor in Turbo models.
• Safety package: Every CX-5 includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, and lane-keeping assist. Higher trims add adaptive headlights, traffic sign recognition, and Traffic Jam Assist, while the 2.5 Turbo Signature gets a driver monitoring system, surround-view camera, front and rear parking sensors, and automatic reverse braking.
• Infotainment: The CX-5 uses a 10.25-inch display, and several trim levels add wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Mazda Connected Services also brings remote engine start, a find my car feature, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and automatic 911 dialing after a collision.
• Fuel efficiency: The Turbo model is rated at 24 mpg in combined driving, and the test loop returned 22.9 mpg.

Which 2024 Mazda CX-5 trim should I buy?

The 2024 Mazda CX-5 is offered in 8 trim levels: Select, Preferred, Carbon Edition, Premium, Premium Plus, Carbon Turbo, Premium Turbo, Signature.

Here's the short version:

• Select: This is the entry point if you want the CX-5’s core strengths at the lowest price, including standard all-wheel drive and the full safety suite. It makes sense if you want the CX-5 experience without paying for extra luxury touches.
• Preferred: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more comfort and convenience without pushing you into the pricier upper end of the lineup. If you want the sweet spot between price and equipment, start here.
• Carbon Edition: Choose this if you want a more distinctive look and a richer-feeling presentation. It builds on the lower trims with more style-focused appeal.
• Premium: This trim is for you if you want a more upscale cabin and more of the CX-5’s premium character without going all the way to the top. It’s a strong choice if interior quality matters most.
• Premium Plus: Pick this if you want a more fully equipped CX-5 and are willing to pay for it. It suits buyers who want the most comfort and convenience from the 2.5 S lineup.
• Carbon Turbo: This is the one to choose if you want the stronger turbocharged engine and a more premium feel. It also stands out with the Bose sound system and the test vehicle’s upscale interior treatment.
• Premium Turbo: Consider this if you want turbo power with a more refined equipment mix than the lower Turbo trim. It’s aimed at buyers who want performance and comfort together.
• Signature: This is the top choice if you want the most advanced safety and convenience equipment, including the driver monitoring system, surround-view camera, parking sensors, and automatic reverse braking.

The safety package is standard across the lineup, but the most advanced driver-assistance and parking features are reserved for the upper trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Mazda CX-5?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on a strong listing.

• Deal availability: 42.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 9,008 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 2.11% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 89.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $24,820, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Mazda CX-5's resale value?

The current average of $26,674 sits slightly above last year's $26,122.

That year-over-year increase suggests the CX-5 is holding value reasonably well in the used market. Demand appears steady enough that prices have moved upward rather than softened, which is a positive sign if you plan to sell later.

Its strong user satisfaction rating also supports buyer interest over time, especially for shoppers who want a polished compact SUV with a premium feel.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Mazda CX-5 safe?

The 2024 Mazda CX-5 earns five-star ratings across the board from NHTSA, except for a four-star rollover resistance rating.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Mazda equips every CX-5 with adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, and lane-keeping assist. Higher trims add adaptive headlights, traffic sign recognition, and Traffic Jam Assist, while the 2.5 Turbo Signature gets a driver monitoring system, surround-view camera, front and rear parking sensors, and automatic reverse braking.

The standard driver-assistance package is strong, and the lane departure and lane keeping systems are described as subtle and effective. The main caveat is that the CX-5 did not earn its previous Top Safety Pick designation in 2024.

Should I buy a 2024 Mazda CX-5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 42.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 89% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices are up 2.11% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Continuous refinement makes it feel better than ever.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $25,289, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $26,674 average.
• It still feels fresh but is nearing the end of its run.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $27,462, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $26,674 average.
• It keeps the sporty, upscale character while staying practical.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, refinement, and safety, the 2024 is the strongest all-around pick. If you are especially price-sensitive, the 2023 is the better value play, while the 2025 makes sense if you want to spend a bit more for the newer model year.
