CarGurus Analysis: 2024 Lexus IS
Summary
With 1,337 currently listed for sale and an average price of $41,331, 39.9% of 2024 Lexus IS listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
85.0% of 2024 Lexus IS listings on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2024 Lexus IS stands out as a compact luxury sports sedan with a long-running reputation for being fun to drive, and it remains the entry-level model in the Lexus lineup. It appeals to younger buyers with its comparatively low price point and compact proportions, while its history of being sold in a variety of body styles and with a high-performance V8 underscores how broad the IS nameplate has been over time. For shoppers who want a small sedan that feels premium without losing its sporty character, that combination is a big part of the appeal.
For this model year, the IS sits in the third generation, which received a significant refresh for 2021. That update brought Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a touchscreen display, NuLuxe synthetic leather seats, an eight-inch infotainment screen, passive entry, push-button start, dual automatic climate controls, and 18-inch wheels. Standard safety equipment includes Lexus Safety System+ with automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, and lane-trace assist, while blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are also standard. Available features include a 17-speaker Mark Levinson premium audio system, a power moonroof, and a 10.3-inch infotainment screen with navigation.
The 2024 Lexus IS also benefits from the broader third-generation formula that emphasizes quality and driving enjoyment. At the same time, it is not the most practical choice for everyone: the back seat is really tight, and the model is noted for not having much cargo space. That makes it a better fit for drivers who rarely carry passengers and want a compact luxury sedan with a strong reliability reputation and a polished feel.

Is the 2024 Lexus IS a good car?
The 2024 Lexus IS stands out as a compact luxury sports sedan with a long-running reputation for being fun to drive, and it remains the entry-level model in the Lexus lineup. It appeals to younger buyers with its comparatively low price point and compact proportions, while its premium feel and sporty character make it a strong fit if you want a small sedan that feels upscale without giving up driving enjoyment.
It is also not the most practical choice for everyone, since the back seat is really tight and cargo space is limited. That makes it a better match if you rarely carry passengers and want a compact luxury sedan with a polished feel. 40.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2024 Lexus IS reliable?
The 2024 Lexus IS stands out as a compact luxury sports sedan with a long-running reputation for being fun to drive, and it remains the entry-level model in the Lexus lineup. It appeals to younger buyers with its comparatively low price point and compact proportions, while its strong reliability reputation is part of the appeal if you want a premium-feeling sedan with less worry than many rivals.
It is also a better fit if you want a small sedan that feels premium without losing its sporty character. For long-term ownership, the main risk is less about the powertrain and more about whether you can live with the tight rear seat and limited cargo space over time.
What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Lexus IS?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should prioritize a history report first, then inspect the car closely for signs of prior damage, uneven wear, or poor repairs. Focus on overall condition, because a clean-looking listing can still hide issues that matter once you own the car. If you can, compare several examples side by side so you can judge whether the asking price matches the car’s condition and history.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Lexus IS?
This looks like a buyer-friendly market, with enough inventory and a meaningful share of listings priced competitively to give you leverage.
- Deal availability: 40.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,328 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.67% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 85.1% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $41,295, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2024 Lexus IS's resale value?
The current average of $41,295 sits slightly below last year's $42,427.
That price movement suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy more confidently now. If you plan to sell later, the current trend points to a model that is holding value reasonably well, but not appreciating. For you, that means resale should be respectable if you keep the car clean, well documented, and in strong condition.
Should I buy a 2024 Lexus IS or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2024 if:
- 40.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.67% compared with last year.
The bottom line: The 2024 is a smart choice if you want the latest version of this compact luxury sports sedan and you value a market with decent deal availability. If you are especially price-sensitive, a nearby model year may be worth comparing closely, but the 2024 gives you a strong mix of availability, condition, and softened pricing.
