Is the 2024 Lexus IS a good car?

The 2024 Lexus IS stands out as a compact luxury sports sedan with a long-running reputation for being fun to drive, and it remains the entry-level model in the Lexus lineup. It appeals to younger buyers with its comparatively low price point and compact proportions, while its premium feel and sporty character make it a strong fit if you want a small sedan that feels upscale without giving up driving enjoyment.

It is also not the most practical choice for everyone, since the back seat is really tight and cargo space is limited. That makes it a better match if you rarely carry passengers and want a compact luxury sedan with a polished feel. 40.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2024 Lexus IS reliable?

The 2024 Lexus IS stands out as a compact luxury sports sedan with a long-running reputation for being fun to drive, and it remains the entry-level model in the Lexus lineup. It appeals to younger buyers with its comparatively low price point and compact proportions, while its strong reliability reputation is part of the appeal if you want a premium-feeling sedan with less worry than many rivals.

It is also a better fit if you want a small sedan that feels premium without losing its sporty character. For long-term ownership, the main risk is less about the powertrain and more about whether you can live with the tight rear seat and limited cargo space over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Lexus IS?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should prioritize a history report first, then inspect the car closely for signs of prior damage, uneven wear, or poor repairs. Focus on overall condition, because a clean-looking listing can still hide issues that matter once you own the car. If you can, compare several examples side by side so you can judge whether the asking price matches the car’s condition and history.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Lexus IS?

This looks like a buyer-friendly market, with enough inventory and a meaningful share of listings priced competitively to give you leverage.

• Deal availability: 40.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,328 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.67% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 85.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $41,295, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Lexus IS's resale value?

The current average of $41,295 sits slightly below last year's $42,427.

That price movement suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy more confidently now. If you plan to sell later, the current trend points to a model that is holding value reasonably well, but not appreciating. For you, that means resale should be respectable if you keep the car clean, well documented, and in strong condition.

Should I buy a 2024 Lexus IS or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 40.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.67% compared with last year.

The bottom line: The 2024 is a smart choice if you want the latest version of this compact luxury sports sedan and you value a market with decent deal availability. If you are especially price-sensitive, a nearby model year may be worth comparing closely, but the 2024 gives you a strong mix of availability, condition, and softened pricing.
