Used 2024 Land Rover Defender for Sale nearPhoenix, AZ

How much does the 2024 Land Rover Defender cost?

Prices have softened 15.68% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,963 listings available, which suggests you have a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2024 Land Rover Defender a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Land Rover Defender earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.67/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Form and function and Technology.

It fits you well if you want a luxury SUV with legitimate off-road ability and a premium feel. The overview and expert evaluation both point to a vehicle that blends rugged capability with a more sophisticated cabin and a broad range of engines and body styles.

The main trade-offs are that handling is more cumbersome than most luxury SUVs and fuel economy is below average. Even so, the Defender’s capability-first character and long list of standard equipment make it appealing if you value versatility over on-road polish.

Good and great deals account for 39.8% of listings, which is a healthy share for shoppers who want room to negotiate.

Is the 2024 Land Rover Defender reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Defender’s appeal is built around ruggedness, a premium interior, and a broad set of powertrain choices, all of which support confidence in everyday use. Its expert evaluation also highlights strong capability and a well-equipped cabin, which are good signs for buyers who want a vehicle that feels substantial and well thought out.

The performance notes point to a vehicle that is built for demanding conditions, with strong towing ability and off-road hardware available across the lineup. The cost-effectiveness notes also mention a 4-year/50,000-mile limited warranty, which helps with early ownership coverage.

For used buyers, the biggest long-term risk is that a complex, capability-focused SUV can be expensive to keep in top shape if it has been heavily used or poorly maintained.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Land Rover Defender?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the vehicle has been used for towing, off-road driving, or frequent short trips. Focus on overall condition, tire wear, suspension behavior, and signs that the vehicle’s many features have been used hard.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The S trim brings 19-inch alloy wheels, power-adjustable front seats, heated front seats, partial leather upholstery, a panoramic glass roof, and a heated, power-adjustable steering wheel. Higher trims add features such as ventilated front seats, a digital rearview mirror camera, partial Windsor leather upholstery, a center console refrigerator, and more distinctive styling, while the Outbound removes the third row for more cargo space.
• Powertrain: You get a turbocharged four-cylinder, a mild-hybrid turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six, and two supercharged 5.0-liter V8 options. The lineup emphasizes strong output and towing ability, with the six- and eight-cylinder versions rated for up to 7,716 pounds when properly equipped.
• Safety package: Standard driver assistance includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, traffic sign recognition, automatic high beams, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and a 360-degree parking camera system. The lane-departure and lane-keeping assist intervention can feel overly touchy.
• Infotainment: The Defender uses a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel and an 11.4-inch touchscreen with navigation, wireless-style smartphone integration through Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, satellite radio, HD radio, and a 10-speaker Meridian stereo system.
• Fuel efficiency: The most efficient configuration returns 18 mpg city, 22 highway, 20 combined. The base four-cylinder in the 90 returns 18 city, 21 highway, 19 combined, the six-cylinder in the 110 returns 17 city, 20 highway, 18 combined, and the V8-equipped 110 returns 14 city, 19 highway, 16 combined.

Which 2024 Land Rover Defender trim should I buy?

The 2024 Land Rover Defender is offered in 5 trim levels: S, X-Dynamic SE, X, Carpathian Edition, and Outbound.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the most approachable starting point and the best-value trim if you want the Defender’s core character without moving too far up the price ladder. You still get a strong standard equipment list, including the panoramic roof, heated front seats, and the full suite of standard safety tech.
• X-Dynamic SE: This trim adds 20-inch wheels, distinctive styling touches, and ventilated front seats with extra power adjustments, making it a smart step up if you want more comfort and a more upscale look.
• X: This trim adds a digital rearview mirror camera and partial Windsor leather upholstery, so it suits you if you want a more premium-feeling cabin and extra convenience.
• Carpathian Edition: This is the style-forward choice, with 22-inch wheels and dark exterior and interior accents. It fits you best if you want the most aggressive appearance.
• Outbound: This trim keeps many of the X-Dynamic SE’s features but removes the third row for more cargo space, so it makes the most sense if you prioritize gear-hauling over passenger capacity.

The Defender’s safety package is extensive across the lineup, but the lane-departure and lane-keeping assist behavior can feel overly sensitive.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Land Rover Defender?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 39.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,963 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.68% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 93.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $58,326, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Land Rover Defender's resale value?

The current average of $58,326 sits slightly below last year's $69,172.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can help you buy at a better entry point today. For a future seller, it also means you should pay close attention to trim, condition, and mileage, because those factors will matter more when the market is softer.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Land Rover Defender safe?

The Defender comes with an extensive list of standard driver assistance features, including forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard safety suite also includes traffic sign recognition, automatic high beams, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and a 360-degree parking camera system. One caveat is that the lane-departure and lane-keeping assist intervention can feel too aggressive, especially in tighter driving situations.

Should I buy a 2024 Land Rover Defender or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 39.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.68% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2024 expands V8 availability and adds new trims and features.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $52,073, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $58,326 average.
• It adds the extended Defender 130 to the lineup.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $69,500, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $58,326 average.
• It adds the high-performance OCTA.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of current pricing, strong inventory, and updated features, the 2024 is the primary year to target. If your budget is tighter, the 2023 is the value play, while the 2025 makes sense only if you want the newer high-performance direction and are willing to pay more.
