Jeep's popular and long-running two-row SUV got a significant overhaul for the 2022 model year, with more refined styling, updated tech, and a more comfortable cabin. Now the automaker is making some revisions to the Grand Cherokee lineup.

What’s New for the 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee

The V8 engine option is gone for 2024, leaving the base V6 and available plug-in hybrid (PHEV) as the two powertrain choices. Jeep revived two trims for the new model year as well: Laredo X and Altitude X.

Design

The latest Grand Cherokee design is more upright and muscular than previous iterations, giving the SUV an imposing stance. It retains the signature slotted grille, and the top trims get plenty of chrome that broadcasts their near-luxury status. Jeep offers a range of styling configurations, depending on the trim, and each trim gets a unique wheel design.

Powertrain

The Grand Cherokee has been offered with different available engines in recent years, but the venerable 3.6-liter V6 has been a constant for a long time. It makes 293 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, and it sends the power to the rear or all four wheels (RWD or 4WD) through an eight-speed automatic transmission. Two 4WD systems are available, with top trims adding a height-adjustable air suspension system. The SUV can tow up to 6,000 pounds when properly equipped, and the V6 engine returns up to 26 mpg on the highway.

Interior

Jeep has always lavished the Grand Cherokee with a plush interior and luxurious finishes, and the new model is no exception. It gets genuine wood trim, rich leathers, and premium metal accents in some configurations, and the space features a gorgeous design. The Grand Cherokee is still limited to two rows of seating in 2024, but the newer Grand Cherokee L increases interior space with its longer wheelbase. Buyers can upgrade with heated and ventilated second-row seats, massaging front seats, and a heated steering wheel.

Technology

Jeep equips the 2024 Grand Cherokee with an 8.4-inch touchscreen paired with a 10.25-inch configurable digital gauge cluster. The system runs the excellent Uconnect 5 infotainment interface from parent company Stellantis, meaning it offers intuitive menus, responsive navigation, and easy-to-understand controls. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard, along with HD radio, Amazon Alexa functionality, six speakers, and Bluetooth.

Safety

The Grand Cherokee earned a Top Safety Pick+ award in 2023, which included “Good” scores in most categories. It comes standard with adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warnings, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warnings, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alerts, parking sensors, and more. Top trims add a night-vision system, rain-sensing wipers, off-road cameras, and an advanced intersection-assist system.

Pricing

The 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee starts at $36,495, not including the $1,795 destination charge. Stepping up to the Laredo trim brings the price before destination to $40,130, and the Laredo X adds $750 to that amount. The midrange Altitude models start at $44,140, while the range-topping Summit Reserve model crests the $70,000 mark.
