Used 2024 GMC Canyon for Sale nearAmarillo, TX

How much does the 2024 GMC Canyon cost?

Prices have softened 8.07% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,790 listings available, which gives you a solid pool to compare trims and equipment.

Is the 2024 GMC Canyon a good car?

The 2024 GMC Canyon is a strong fit if you want a midsize pickup that feels more upscale and more capability-focused than many rivals, though its price and packaging trade-offs matter. It earns a user rating of 3/5 and an expert rating of 7.2/10.

The standout strength is Technology at 9/10.

The Canyon’s appeal comes from its tall, wide stance, strong standard equipment, and serious off-road intent, especially if you want a compact footprint without giving up a rugged personality. Trade-offs include a cramped back seat and a shorter bed than competitors, and the truck is described as pricey.

Only 32.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market is selective rather than especially bargain-heavy.

Is the 2024 GMC Canyon reliable?

The 2024 GMC Canyon is built around a robust turbocharged four-cylinder setup, and the truck’s overall character suggests durability-minded engineering rather than a soft, low-stress approach. Its powertrain is described as more than enough for towing, hauling, and off-road driving, and the truck’s road manners are helped by well-damped noise and a composed ride.

The performance notes also point to a well-matched eight-speed automatic transmission and hardware such as Multimatic spool-valve dampers that help smooth rough terrain without making the truck feel overly soft on pavement. On the cost side, the Canyon’s fuel economy is described as a bit of a disaster, and that means long-term ownership costs can add up faster than you might expect.

If you buy used, the biggest long-term risk is that a truck with this much capability and complexity may cost more to run than its size suggests.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 GMC Canyon?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re looking at a higher-trim truck with more equipment. Focus on overall condition, because the Canyon’s appeal depends heavily on whether the cabin, tech, and off-road hardware have been cared for properly.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base Elevation is the closest thing to a work-truck setup, while AT4, Denali, and AT4X move the truck toward off-road capability or luxury. Even the base trim includes dual-zone climate control, keyless entry, a tilting and telescoping steering wheel, an 11-inch digital gauge cluster, and an 11.3-inch touchscreen, so you’re not starting from a stripped-down place.
• Powertrain: Every trim gets the most powerful version of the turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine, rated at 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. The truck uses an eight-speed automatic transmission, and the AT4 and AT4X add more serious off-road hardware, including a two-speed transfer case on those trims and front and rear lockers on the AT4X.
• Safety package: The Canyon comes standard with automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane-keeping assist, lane-departure warning, and a rear-seat reminder system. Rear park assist, rear cross-traffic braking, and blind-zone steering assist require the Canyon Safety Plus package on lower trims.
• Infotainment: The standard setup includes an 11.3-inch touchscreen, Google Built-in, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Denali and AT4X also get a head-up display.
• Fuel efficiency: The best-rated setup is a rear-wheel-drive Elevation at 19 mpg city, 23 highway, and 20 combined. The AT4X AEV tester is rated at 16 mpg across the board.

Which 2024 GMC Canyon trim should I buy?

The 2024 GMC Canyon is offered in 4 trim levels: Elevation, AT4, Denali, and AT4X.

Here's the short version:

• Elevation: This is the best-value starting point if you want the Canyon’s standard tech and upscale feel without paying for off-road or luxury extras. It already includes the 11-inch digital gauge cluster, the 11.3-inch touchscreen, dual-zone climate control, and keyless entry, but some advanced safety features cost extra.
• AT4: This is the right pick if you want a more off-road-capable Canyon without jumping all the way to the top of the range. It builds on the truck’s rugged character and is a better fit if you care more about capability than luxury.
• Denali: Choose this if you want the most upscale everyday Canyon experience. It leans into comfort and premium presentation, and it adds a head-up display.
• AT4X: This is the trim for you if off-road hardware is the priority. It adds front and rear lockers, and the AEV package takes capability even further with 35-inch tires, steel skid plates, and a full-size spare.

The safety package features are not standard on lower trims, so you should check carefully for the equipment you want.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 GMC Canyon?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop carefully but not so much that every listing is a bargain.

• Deal availability: 32.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,790 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.07% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 93.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $39,462, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 GMC Canyon's resale value?

The current average of $39,462 sits slightly below last year's $42,925.

That price movement suggests the Canyon has softened enough to help used buyers today, but it also means sellers may need to be realistic about expectations. If you plan to resell later, the truck’s premium positioning and strong equipment list may help, but its higher running costs and price sensitivity can limit how quickly it holds value. For you, that means buying well matters: a clean, well-equipped example is more likely to stay attractive in the used market.

Is the 2024 GMC Canyon safe?

The 2024 GMC Canyon earns a four-star overall rating from NHTSA, with four-star frontal crash ratings, five-star side-impact ratings, and three-star rollover ratings.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

The Canyon comes standard with automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane-keeping assist, lane-departure warning, and a rear-seat reminder system. Rear park assist, rear cross-traffic braking, and blind-zone steering assist are available through a package on lower trims, so you should verify equipment carefully if those features matter to you.

The lower rollover result is the main caveat to keep in mind when you’re comparing used examples.

Should I buy a 2024 GMC Canyon or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 32.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.07% compared with last year.
• The 2024 adds a new AEV package that expands off-road capability with 35-inch tires, steel skid plates, and a full-size spare tire.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $38,147, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $39,462 average.
• It is a redesigned upscale midsize truck with strong tech and a premium feel.

The bottom line: If you want the newest off-road hardware and a broader used-market selection, the 2024 is the better target. If your priority is saving money and you still want the Canyon’s upscale character, the 2023 is the smarter value play.
