Used 2022 GMC Canyon for Sale nearAmarillo, TX

How much does the 2022 GMC Canyon cost?

Prices have softened 6.87% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,561 listings available, which gives you a meaningful pool to compare prices and equipment.

Is the 2022 GMC Canyon a good car?

Yes — the 2022 GMC Canyon earns a 4.8/5 user rating and a 6.3/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Performance and Form and function.

Owners consistently praise its smooth ride, responsive handling, and quiet cabin, and they also like the interior quality and easy-to-live-with driving character. The main trade-offs are the underwhelming base engine and the lack of standard advanced safety features.

For you, that means the Canyon makes the most sense if you want a midsize truck that feels more upscale and comfortable than purely utilitarian. It also fits shoppers who value a smaller footprint and easier day-to-day use over maximum capability. Good and great deals account for 31.5% of listings, which suggests there are still some worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2022 GMC Canyon reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a truck that feels smooth, quiet, and enjoyable over time, with many drivers describing it as dependable and easy to live with. The expert evaluation also notes that the Canyon’s performance is solid and steady, which supports confidence in everyday use.

GMC also covers the first scheduled maintenance visit, which helps early ownership costs a bit. For used buyers, the bigger long-term risk is less about basic durability and more about whether the truck was maintained well and equipped with the features you want.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 GMC Canyon?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper records review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on wear, electronics, and any signs of hard use, especially if the truck was used for towing or off-road driving. Pay close attention to trim-specific equipment so you know whether the truck has the features you expect.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base Elevation Standard keeps things simple, while higher trims add a more upscale look and feel; the Denali stands out with luxury-oriented touches, and the AT4 brings a more rugged appearance and off-road hardware.
• Powertrain: You can choose from a 200-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder, a 308-hp 3.6-liter V6, or a 181-hp 2.8-liter turbodiesel four-cylinder with 369 pound-feet of torque.
• Safety package: The Driver Alert package adds forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, and rear parking assistance; it is available on the Elevation and AT4 and standard on the Denali. Rear park assist is only available on models equipped with leather seats.
• Infotainment: The Elevation Standard has a 7-inch color touchscreen, while the Elevation adds an 8-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth streaming audio and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. The AT4 adds wireless smartphone charging, and the Denali adds navigation and a high-definition rearview camera.
• Fuel efficiency: The 2.5-liter four-cylinder returns 22 mpg combined, or 21 mpg with 4WD. The turbodiesel returns 23 mpg combined with RWD and 22 mpg with 4WD, while the V6 returns 21 mpg combined with RWD and 19 mpg with 4WD.

Which 2022 GMC Canyon trim should I buy?

The 2022 GMC Canyon is offered in 4 trim levels: Elevation Standard, Elevation, AT4, and Denali.

Here's the short version:

• Elevation Standard: This is the entry point, and it gives you the basics at the lowest price. It makes sense if you want the Canyon’s core size and utility without paying for extra equipment.
• Elevation: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the larger 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto while staying below the more expensive off-road and luxury trims.
• AT4: Choose this if you want the rugged look and off-road-focused hardware, plus added convenience features like wireless smartphone charging.
• Denali: This is the luxury pick, with the most upscale cabin treatment and the most standard driver-assistance content.

The safety package is available on the Elevation and AT4 and standard on the Denali, but rear park assist is only available on models equipped with leather seats.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 GMC Canyon?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it rewards comparison shopping and quick action on strong listings.

• Deal availability: 31.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,561 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.87% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 84.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $29,833, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 GMC Canyon's resale value?

The current average of $29,833 sits slightly below last year's $32,034.

That softer pricing suggests the Canyon has already absorbed some of its near-term depreciation, which can help future sellers if the market stabilizes. If you buy well and keep the truck in clean condition, you may be better positioned than someone who paid closer to the peak. The current price trend also shows that buyers are still price-sensitive, so resale will likely depend heavily on trim, condition, and equipment.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 GMC Canyon safe?

The 2022 GMC Canyon earns four stars for frontal crash protection, five stars for side protection, and three stars for rollover resistance from NHTSA, and it received a Good rating from IIHS in most crash tests but a Poor result in the front passenger-side small overlap structure and safety cage evaluation.

It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard safety story is mixed. The base Elevation Standard does not include advanced driver aids, though it does have tire-fill alert and the Teen Driver system with Buckle-to-Drive. The Driver Alert package adds forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, and rear parking assistance, but that package is only available on the Elevation and AT4 and standard on the Denali. Rear park assist is only available on models equipped with leather seats.

The bigger caution is that several key modern safety features are not available at all, including adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot warning, and lane-keeping or lane-centering assistance. IIHS also flagged the headlights with a Poor rating and vehicle-to-vehicle front crash prevention with a Basic rating, so safety-conscious shoppers should pay close attention to trim and equipment.

Should I buy a 2022 GMC Canyon or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 31.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.87% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds a new Denali Black Edition package and renames the High Elevation package Elevation Premium.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $27,785, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $29,833 average.
• It brings a refreshed look and an AT4 trim while staying familiar underneath.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $38,147, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $29,833 average.
• It brings a redesigned platform, more premium positioning, and an added AT4X model.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, availability, and familiar Canyon character, the 2022 is the sensible pick. If your budget is tighter, the 2021 can save you money while keeping much of the same basic appeal. If you want the newest design and can spend more, the 2023 is the upgrade path.
