Used 2024 Ford Ranger for Sale near Montana

How much does the 2024 Ford Ranger cost?

Prices have softened 6.30% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,166 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare across trims and equipment levels.

Is the 2024 Ford Ranger a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Ford Ranger earns a 4.75/5 user rating and a 7.17/10 expert rating, which points to a truck that lands well with shoppers and testers alike. The Ranger’s appeal is built around multiple powertrain options, great handling, and a quiet cabin, and it was designed to bring more power, technology, refinement, space, and choice to the midsize-truck segment.

The trade-offs are just as clear: the interior materials feel cheap and the touchscreen response is sluggish. Even so, the Ranger’s broader lineup makes it more compelling if you want a midsize pickup that feels more polished and capable than a bare-bones work truck.

The model scores 9/10 across Performance and Form and function.

Only 34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market is somewhat selective rather than deeply discounted.

Is the 2024 Ford Ranger reliable?

Owners rate it 4.75/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The Ranger’s overall package suggests solid day-to-day dependability if you want a midsize truck that balances capability with a calmer driving experience, and the expert evaluation highlights swift and smooth acceleration from the standard turbo four-cylinder along with a quiet and comfortable ride on pavement.

The truck’s broader choice of engines and trims also gives you flexibility to match the powertrain to your needs, which can help you avoid overbuying for your use case. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the cabin quality and tech feel less refined than the rest of the truck, so condition and maintenance history matter.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Ford Ranger?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 94.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re looking at trucks with off-road or towing use. Focus on cabin condition, touchscreen behavior, and how the truck drives over rough pavement, since the interior quality and infotainment response are the main weak spots called out by testers.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Ranger’s lineup is broader than before, and the base XL is the most stripped-down version. The XLT and above add more everyday convenience, while the Lariat brings more upscale tech and equipment. If you want the best value, the XLT is the trim that most clearly balances equipment and price.
• Powertrain: The standard turbocharged four-cylinder is described as swift and smooth, while the optional twin-turbo V6 is the better choice if you plan to tow regularly. The Raptor’s twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 is the most serious setup and is aimed at buyers who want maximum off-road capability.
• Safety package: The XLT and above get standard forward and reverse emergency braking, auto high beams, blind-spot monitoring with trailer coverage, front cross-traffic braking, and evasive steering assist. Adaptive cruise control is optional on the XLT and standard on Lariat and Raptor, while the base XL does not come with driver assists.
• Infotainment: A 10-inch portrait touchscreen is standard on the XL, and a 12-inch screen comes on all other trims. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are supported, but the menus are slow to load.
• Fuel efficiency: The base four-cylinder with 4WD is rated at 20 mpg city, 24 mpg highway, and 22 mpg combined, while the V6 returns 19/23/20.

Which 2024 Ford Ranger trim should I buy?

The 2024 Ford Ranger is offered in 4 trim levels: XL, XLT, Lariat, Raptor.

Here's the short version:

• XL: This is the entry point, but it’s also the most basic version and the one most likely to leave you wanting more convenience and safety equipment. It makes sense only if you’re focused on keeping the purchase price as low as possible.
• XLT: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the key driver-assistance features that the XL lacks while keeping the Ranger’s core strengths intact. If you want the sweet spot between price and equipment, this is the trim to target.
• Lariat: This trim adds a more upscale feel with a wider instrument panel, push-button start, automatic parking, and trailer-reversing tech. It suits you if you want more comfort and technology without jumping all the way to the Raptor.
• Raptor: This is the performance and off-road-focused choice, with the most powerful engine, serious suspension hardware, and locking differentials. Buy this one if you want the Ranger’s most capable and most specialized version.

The safety-package gap is important here: the base XL does not include driver assists, while the XLT and higher trims do.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Ford Ranger?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,166 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.30% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 94.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $39,026, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Ford Ranger's resale value?

The current average of $39,026 sits slightly below last year's $41,649.

That decline suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy at a more favorable point in the cycle. For a future seller, the softer pricing means you should expect resale to depend more heavily on trim, condition, and equipment than on broad market momentum alone. Well-kept trucks with the right features should still draw interest, but you may not see the same pricing strength that was present a year ago.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.75/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Ford Ranger safe?

The 2024 Ranger has not been crash-tested by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), and previous model years tested by NHTSA and IIHS are not comparable.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

The base XL trim does not come with any driver assists, but the XLT and above trims have standard forward and reverse emergency braking, auto high beams, blind-spot monitoring with trailer coverage, front cross-traffic braking, and evasive steering assist. Adaptive cruise control is optional on the XLT and standard on Lariat and Raptor.

Should I buy a 2024 Ford Ranger or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 94.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.30% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.75/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2024 Ranger brings more power, tech, refinement, space, and choice, with a broader lineup that includes new V6 engines and a Raptor trim.

The bottom line: If you want the most complete version of this Ranger generation, the 2024 model is the one to focus on because it adds meaningful powertrain and trim variety while keeping the truck’s strong handling and quiet cabin. If you’re especially price-sensitive, a nearby model year may still make sense, but the 2024 is the better pick when you want the broader feature set and a more polished overall package.
