Why it stands out
The 2023 GMC Canyon stands out in the midsize pickup market due to its blend of luxury and off-road capability, especially evident in its Denali and AT4X trims. With a powerful turbocharged engine delivering 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque, it provides impressive performance while maintaining efficiency. Additionally, the Canyon's refined interior features and advanced technology make it a compelling choice for those seeking both comfort and versatility in a truck.
Other model years to consider
The 2021 and 2019 GMC Canyon model years are strong alternatives in the used vehicle market, offering an appealing blend of value and user satisfaction. Both years boast high user ratings of 4.6/5, indicating a solid level of owner satisfaction, while the 2019 model presents a competitive average price that enhances its attractiveness as a budget-friendly option. Additionally, these models have significant percentages of good or great deals available, further emphasizing their favorable positioning within the market.
Model years to approach with caution
The GMC Canyon model years 2010, 2008, 2006, 2005, and 2007 should be approached with caution due to a combination of cost factors and customer satisfaction levels. A significant percentage of these models are rated as not representing good or great deals in the marketplace, indicating potential overpricing or hidden issues that may affect long-term ownership satisfaction. Additionally, user ratings for several of these years show a decline in customer approval, particularly for the 2009 model, which received notably low feedback.
These recommendations are based on CarGurus' proprietary market data from December 3, 2025, CarGurus experts' opinions, and generative AI.

The GMC Canyon is a midsize truck that has garnered positive feedback for its stylish design, comfortable interiors, and strong performance across various model years. Owners appreciate its luxurious features, smooth handling, and good towing capacity, making it suitable for both daily driving and off-road adventures. However, some drivers feel the price can be steep, and there have been criticisms regarding engine power, ride quality, and limited rear seat space. What people say
Nice truck. Awesome features, but weaker engine than I expected. My 2020 6 cylinder had more guts.
Love the extra clearance of the AT4X and the look of the new body style
Over all, very nice midsized truck. All the features I need in a truck. My only complaint, is they call it a crew cab. If your crew is a couple small children, your ok. But most grown adults are not fitting in back seat.
This is a very nice equipped vehicle. The SLT is pretty much loaded with features that I like. I previously had a 2017 Colorado and the only downside I have noticed is that the Canyon seems to have a lot more wind/road noise... I`m not sure why. All else (so-far) is just Great !
This is a great vehicle at a great price!!! Its got the features of a luxury car, great looks, and plenty of power! I would recommend this to anyone!
