How much does the 2024 Ford Mustang cost?

Prices have softened 2.54% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,061 listings available, which suggests you have a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2024 Ford Mustang a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Ford Mustang earns a 4.75/5 user rating and a 7.17/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Performance and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its speed, handling, and driving experience, and they also like the engine sound and updated technology. The Mustang’s appeal is especially strong if you want a fun, engaging car with a manual transmission option and available comfort features in higher trims.

The trade-offs are clear: the back seat is cramped, cargo space is limited, and the car can be noisy. That makes it a better fit if you care more about driving enjoyment and less about everyday practicality.

With 35.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still gives you room to shop selectively.

Is the 2024 Ford Mustang reliable?

Owners rate it 4.75/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a car that feels dependable in daily use, with owners repeatedly highlighting its performance, driving enjoyment, and overall satisfaction over time. The expert evaluation also emphasizes that the Mustang is approachable and easy to drive, which supports confidence in regular ownership.

The available maintenance and ownership experience appears straightforward rather than complicated, especially for shoppers who want a familiar sports-car formula. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the concept and more about finding a well-kept example that has been driven and maintained carefully.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Ford Mustang?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any car you’re considering, even if the listing looks clean. A pre-purchase inspection matters here because the Mustang’s appeal depends heavily on condition, equipment, and how the car was used. Focus on signs of wear, prior damage, and whether the features you want are actually present on the trim you’re looking at.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The cabin gets a more modern look with a glass panel that houses the digital instrument cluster and infotainment touchscreen, while base models use two separate screens and Premium models place them in a single enclosure. The interior materials are improved, but the base setup is still the one most likely to feel less upscale than higher trims.
• Powertrain: The EcoBoost 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder makes 315 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque, while the GT’s 5.0-liter V8 makes 480 hp and 415 lb-ft, or 486 hp and 418 lb-ft with the optional Active Exhaust. The EcoBoost is the efficiency-minded choice, while the GT is the more complete muscle-car setup.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking sensors, rain-sensing wipers, and automatic high beams. Adaptive cruise control and a safe passenger exit warning are available options.
• Infotainment: Every model gets a 13.2-inch infotainment touchscreen and a digital instrument cluster, along with Sync 4, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa integration, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. A native navigation system and a 12-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system are optional.
• Fuel efficiency: The EcoBoost is rated at 22 mpg city, 33 mpg highway, and 26 mpg combined, while the GT automatic returns 15 mpg city, 24 mpg highway, and 18 mpg combined. The GT manual drops fuel economy by 1 mpg across the board.

Which 2024 Ford Mustang trim should I buy?

The 2024 Ford Mustang is offered in 2 trim levels: EcoBoost and GT.

Here's the short version:

• EcoBoost: This is the best-value trim if you want the Mustang experience at the lowest starting price. It delivers 315 horsepower, standard rear-wheel drive, and the full modern tech setup, making it the smarter pick for shoppers who care most about value and everyday usability.
• GT: This is the trim to choose if you want the more authentic muscle-car feel. Its 5.0-liter V8 brings a big jump in power and character, and it’s the better choice if performance matters more to you than price or fuel economy.

Standard safety equipment is broad across the lineup, while adaptive cruise control and the safe passenger exit warning remain optional.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Ford Mustang?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 35.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,061 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.54% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 88.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $35,894, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Ford Mustang's resale value?

The current average of $37,926 sits slightly below last year's $38,916.

That softer pricing suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can help you buy more carefully now and may also shape future resale expectations. If you purchase at the right price and keep the car in strong condition, you’ll be better positioned to limit depreciation later. The Mustang’s broad appeal and strong enthusiast demand should continue to support used values, especially for desirable trims and well-kept examples.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.75/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Ford Mustang safe?

The 2024 Ford Mustang earns Good ratings from IIHS and five-star ratings across the board from NHTSA in evaluations of the previous generation it is based on.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety features include frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking sensors, rain-sensing wipers, and automatic high beams. Adaptive cruise control and a safe passenger exit warning are available options.

The main caveat is that crash test results for this model year are not yet available, so you’re relying on the prior generation’s performance as a guide.

Should I buy a 2024 Ford Mustang or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 35.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.54% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.75/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2024 model brings a major interior and technology update while keeping the Mustang’s classic formula intact.

The bottom line: If you want the most modern version of the Mustang’s classic formula, the 2024 is the one to target. It gives you updated tech, strong performance, and a market that still offers decent deal availability. If you’re mainly shopping on price, a nearby year may be worth comparing, but the 2024 stands out if you want the newest cabin and the broadest appeal in this generation.
