How much does the 2024 Ford Explorer cost?

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.

There are 9,630 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2024 Ford Explorer a good car?

The 2024 Ford Explorer is a balanced choice if you want a midsize three-row SUV with strong performance, modern tech, and up to seven-passenger seating, though it does not feel as premium inside as its price suggests. Its 3/5 user rating points to a mixed but workable ownership experience, and the model’s rear-wheel-drive bias, available four-wheel drive, and broad equipment list make it appealing if you value driving polish and family versatility. For shoppers who want a well-equipped SUV that is more enjoyable to drive than earlier Explorers, it fits the brief, while 32.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.

Is the 2024 Ford Explorer reliable?

The 2024 Ford Explorer is presented as a more polished version of the nameplate, with a strong mix of power, technology, and everyday usability. It also benefits from a layout and feature set that should feel familiar and straightforward if you want a mainstream three-row SUV with modern conveniences. For used buyers, long-term ownership risk is best managed by focusing on maintenance records and overall condition, since that matters more than the badge alone.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Ford Explorer?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and verify that the vehicle’s past matches the seller’s description. Prioritize a thorough inspection of the drivetrain, electronics, and interior condition, since those are the areas where a used SUV’s real-world wear shows up fastest. If possible, focus on examples with consistent maintenance and no signs of deferred upkeep.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Ford Explorer?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to compare listings and wait for the right one.

• Deal availability: 32.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 9,630 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 91.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $33,079, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Ford Explorer's resale value?

The current average of $34,488 sits slightly below last year's $34,492.

That small change suggests the market has been steady rather than volatile, which is helpful if you plan to resell later. A stable price pattern can make it easier to estimate your future trade-in or private-party value. For a seller, that usually means condition, mileage, and equipment will matter more than broad market swings.

Should I buy a 2024 Ford Explorer or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 32.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $40,137, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $34,488 average.
• It adds updated infotainment and safety tech.

The bottom line: Choose the 2024 if you want the better value and a steadier used-market price. Consider the 2025 if you want the newer-feeling cabin and technology and are willing to pay more for it; if you are price-sensitive, the 2024 is the smarter starting point.
