Used 2024 BMW X5 for Sale nearNew York, NY

How much does the 2024 BMW X5 cost?

Prices have softened 9.42% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,474 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing prices and equipment.

Is the 2024 BMW X5 a good car?

Yes — the 2024 BMW X5 earns a 4.8/5 user rating and a 7.7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its smooth hybrid performance, comfort, and technology, and they also highlight hands-free driving and electric range as standout features. The X5’s use case is especially strong if you want a luxury midsize SUV that feels engaging to drive without giving up everyday practicality. The main trade-offs are its poor voice recognition technology and weaker value proposition, along with advanced safety features that are not standard. Even so, 36.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2024 BMW X5 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owners describe the X5 as dependable, with strong satisfaction around its comfort, hybrid performance, and technology. The expert review also points to BMW’s complimentary scheduled maintenance for three years or 36,000 miles, which helps reduce early ownership costs. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a premium SUV like this can still be expensive to maintain once coverage ends, so service history matters.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 BMW X5?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with optional equipment. Focus on overall condition, service records, and whether the technology and driver-assistance features work as intended. Because this model can be expensive to own, a well-documented example is worth paying more for.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The X5 is available with a turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine, a turbo-six PHEV powertrain, a turbocharged V8 engine, and a high-performance variant with an even more powerful turbo V8. The six-cylinder and PHEV models offer a choice between Sport and M Sport trim packages, and the M Sport treatment is not for everyone.
• Powertrain: The plug-in hybrid version uses a more powerful electric motor and a 19.2-kWh battery pack, and BMW says it can travel about 38 miles on electricity before the gasoline engine starts. BMW also says the xDrive50e makes 483 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque.
• Safety package: BMW adds Highway Assistant hands-free driving assistance for 2024. It works with Assisted Driving Plus cruise control mode, and it can operate well in dense traffic or at higher speeds in light traffic. Advanced safety features are not standard across the lineup.
• Infotainment: The BMW Curved Display combines a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel with a 14.9-inch touchscreen. It includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, over-the-air software updates, and BMW Operating System 8.5.
• Fuel efficiency: BMW says the xDrive50e should get 22 mpg in combined driving, and the review also notes 2.4 miles per kWh, 2.7 miles per kWh, and 38.8 mpg on evaluation drives.

Which 2024 BMW X5 trim should I buy?

The 2024 BMW X5 is offered in 5 trim levels: sDrive40i, xDrive40i, xDrive50e, M60i, X5 M Competition.

Here's the short version:

• sDrive40i: This is the entry point if you want the X5’s core luxury, comfort, and premium interior materials without moving up to the pricier powertrains. It makes sense if you want the least expensive path into the lineup.
• xDrive40i: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it adds BMW’s xDrive all-wheel drive while keeping the six-cylinder setup and the X5’s everyday usability intact.
• xDrive50e: This is the one to buy if you want the most compelling blend of performance and efficiency. The expert review calls it the favorite version of the SUV, and it’s the strongest pick if you want electric-only driving capability without giving up the X5’s driving character.
• M60i: Choose this if you want the V8 experience and stronger straight-line performance. It suits buyers who care more about power than efficiency.
• X5 M Competition: This is the top performance choice for shoppers who want maximum capability and are willing to pay for it.

BMW’s Highway Assistant is a notable safety addition for 2024, but advanced safety features are not standard across the lineup.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 BMW X5?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 36.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,474 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.42% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 90.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $50,443, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 BMW X5's resale value?

The current average of $50,443 sits slightly below last year's $55,687.

That price movement suggests the X5 has softened enough to create a better buying opportunity now, but it also means future sellers may face some pressure if the market stays soft. If you buy at the right price and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you can help protect your resale position. Well-equipped examples with strong service records should remain easier to move than neglected ones.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 BMW X5 safe?

The 2024 X5 earns high ratings from IIHS, although lower headlight ratings kept it from earning an IIHS safety award, and it earns a four-star overall rating from NHTSA.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

BMW’s Highway Assistant hands-free driving assistance system is standard for 2024, and it works with Assisted Driving Plus cruise control mode. The system can be subtle and effective in the right conditions, especially in dense traffic or light highway traffic. The main caveat is that it can behave unpredictably in some real-world situations, including occasional hard braking.

Should I buy a 2024 BMW X5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 36.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.42% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2024 update adds BMW Curved Display and Highway Assistant.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $56,867, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $50,443 average.
• It mainly carries forward the 2024 update with no major changes.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2024 is the smarter buy because it already includes the major update and now sits at a lower average price. If you’re willing to pay more for a newer model year with essentially the same formula, the 2025 is the simpler alternative.
