Why it stands out
The 2024 BMW X3 stands out for blending luxury SUV practicality with the sporty driving character BMW is known for. It is described as a compact yet luxurious SUV that is smaller than the X5, more affordable, and still delivers premium features along with agility and driving engagement. That combination makes it appealing to buyers who want an upscale feel without giving up everyday usefulness.
For this model year, the X3’s appeal also comes from its well-rounded equipment and technology. The cabin includes BMW’s latest iDrive infotainment system with a 14.9-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a wireless charger. Standard equipment also includes 19-inch wheels, a powered tailgate, dual-zone climate control, synthetic leather upholstery, and heated front seats. Cargo space measures 31.5 cubic feet behind the rear seats and expands to 67.1 cubic feet with the rear bench folded flat, which helps reinforce its practical side.
The 2024 X3 also brings a strong safety and convenience package, with standard automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, parking assistance, and a rearview camera. At the same time, it remains a premium vehicle with higher maintenance and repair costs than similar non-luxury rivals, and some competitors offer more rear passenger space.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that premium vehicles can bring higher maintenance and repair costs than non-luxury rivals.
What should I look for when buying a used 2024 BMW X3?
Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.2% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
You should still run a vehicle history report and confirm the car’s service records before you buy. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that checks the brakes, tires, electronics, and any signs of uneven wear or prior bodywork. Focus on overall condition and maintenance consistency, since premium vehicles can be more expensive to refresh if they were neglected.

What is the 2024 BMW X3's resale value?
The current average of $37,789 sits slightly below last year's $39,806.
That softer pricing can help you buy more carefully now, but it also means future resale will depend heavily on how well you maintain the vehicle. If you keep mileage reasonable, preserve service records, and avoid accident history, you should be in a better position when it is time to sell. The current market also suggests buyers are still willing to pay for a well-kept example, especially one with strong equipment and clean history.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2024 BMW X3 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2024 if:
- 39.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.2% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 5.07% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2025 if:
- At $45,326, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $37,789 average.
- It brings a redesigned cabin with a more minimalist, tech-forward feel.
The bottom line:
If you want the better value today, the 2024 is the smarter primary path because it combines a lower average price with strong deal availability and clean inventory. If you are willing to pay more for the redesigned next year and its updated character, the 2025 is the secondary path for buyers who prioritize the newest version over price.
