Used 2023 Volkswagen ID.4 for Sale near Ohio

How much does the 2023 Volkswagen ID.4 cost?

Prices have softened 8.50% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,760 listings available, which suggests you should have a healthy set of choices.

Is the 2023 Volkswagen ID.4 a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Volkswagen ID.4 earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.83/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its value, smooth ride, quiet operation, good acceleration, and handling. The review summary also points to positive build quality and a driving experience that compares favorably with pricier EVs. On the downside, the infotainment system is a recurring frustration, and the design may not appeal to everyone.

That lines up with the overview: you’re looking at a mainstream EV that emphasizes comfort, safety equipment, and everyday usability more than a polished interface. With 45.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still gives you room to shop carefully.

Is the 2023 Volkswagen ID.4 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a reliable, trouble-free ownership experience, with praise for the ID.4’s smooth, quiet, and well-built character. The expert evaluation also describes it as comfortable and refined, which supports the sense that it’s a vehicle you can count on day to day.

Volkswagen also includes an eight-year, 100,000-mile battery warranty, which matters for used-EV peace of mind. For a used buyer, the main long-term risk is making sure the battery and charging system have been cared for properly.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Volkswagen ID.4?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.8% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on an EV where software, charging behavior, and electronics matter. Focus on how the car has been charged, whether the infotainment and driver-assist systems work correctly, and whether the battery seems to deliver the expected range and charging speed.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base ID.4 Standard feels close to the higher trims in overall quality, but it does give up some equipment. The interior is still minimalist and well finished, and the base model’s manual driver’s seat is one of the few obvious downgrades mentioned.
• Powertrain: You can shop single-motor rear-wheel drive or dual-motor all-wheel drive versions. The rear-drive setup makes 201 horsepower and 229 pound-feet of torque, while AWD raises output to 295 hp and 339 lb-ft and cuts the 0-60 mph run to 5.7 seconds.
• Safety package: Travel Assist 2.0 is standard and includes adaptive cruise control and automated lane centering. Standard equipment also includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, blind-spot monitoring, rear park distance control, automatic high beams, traffic-sign recognition, Emergency Assist 3.0, Park Assist Plus, an automated lane-change feature, and a 360-degree camera system.
• Infotainment: The standard touchscreen is 12.0 inches, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard. The system also gets software updates and supports over-the-air capability through its connected features, but the touch-sensitive controls can be distracting.
• Range & charging: VW estimates 209 miles of range for 62-kWh Standard and S models, and up to 275 miles for 82-kWh RWD Pro, Pro S, and Pro S Plus models. DC fast charging can reach 170 kW on 82-kWh models for a 10% to 80% charge in 30 minutes; 62-kWh models charge at 140 kW. The usable battery capacity is not stated.
• Battery health: Check the battery’s state of health, confirm normal home-charging and DC fast-charging behavior, and review how much of the battery warranty remains. A clean charging history and consistent range matter more than mileage alone on a used EV.

Which 2023 Volkswagen ID.4 trim should I buy?

The 2023 Volkswagen ID.4 is offered in 5 trim levels: ID.4 Standard, ID.4 S, ID.4 Pro, ID.4 Pro S, ID.4 Pro S Plus.

Here's the short version:

• ID.4 Standard: This is the value play if you want the lowest entry price and still want the core ID.4 experience. It gets the smaller 62-kWh battery, rear-wheel drive, the 12.0-inch touchscreen, wireless smartphone integration, and the same overall cabin quality that makes the ID.4 feel more upscale than many entry-level EVs.
• ID.4 S: Choose this if you want the 62-kWh battery but are willing to pay for a little more equipment than the Standard. It keeps the rear-drive setup and should suit you if you want a more comfort-focused daily driver without jumping to the pricier long-range trims.
• ID.4 Pro: This is the best-value long-range choice if you want the 82-kWh battery and the broader range of available powertrain options. It’s the trim to target if you want a more flexible setup without going all the way to the top of the range.
• ID.4 Pro S: This is the sweet spot for many shoppers because it combines the larger battery with a more upscale equipment mix. If you want the most balanced blend of range, comfort, and features, this is the trim to focus on first.
• ID.4 Pro S Plus: Pick this only if you want the most fully equipped version and are comfortable paying for it. It sits at the top of the lineup and is the trim for shoppers who want the most content rather than the best value.

The safety package is strong across the lineup, with Travel Assist 2.0, Park Assist Plus, and the 360-degree camera system standard.

Should I buy a 2023 Volkswagen ID.4 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 45.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.8% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.50% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds a new base model, more standard tech, and revised styling while keeping the ID.4’s comfort-first character.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $23,468, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $22,692 average.
• It brings a more powerful rear-drive motor and improved range.

The 2023 is the better buy if you want the lower price and a still-fresh EV with strong safety and owner satisfaction. If you’re willing to spend more for a more polished tech experience and added range, the 2024 is the better upgrade path.
